    Playing Petry and scratching Maatta is fucking stupid. Sprong should be playing and now he is most likely not going to re-sign. Loosing Kostin was really disappointing and that's on Lalonde too, should have played him more. Letting this team fall apart like they did is inexcusable, he is supposed to be a defensive coach and they are horrible defensively. I was a big fan of his but he needs to go.

    What the Red Wings really need is a hairy coach, with a big ass lettuce and with no dump and chase mentality.

    If we do get in we going to get swept. Need way better goaltending and defense and till that happens we'll be the same medicore team. Any team can go on winning and losing streaks, that doesn't mean a thing. Next year will be the year, by no means was this a loss year neither

    Petry gets under my skin so much that now I can’t stand listening to his father during Tiger broadcasts. Transferred anger I guess.

    The people supporting Lalonde at this point are the same soy based simps saying Ausmus was not the reason the Tigers didn't win the WS. Lalonde is no way near as toxic as Ausmus but is just not head coach material at this point and the absolute wrong person to motivate a team filled with veteren retreads

    • @workshoptelescope
      @workshoptelescope 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The people blindly firing Lalonde refuse to acknowledge how poorly constructed the roster actually is, too drunk on the pRoSpEcT simp-juice to believe things aren’t as rosy as they imagine they are.
      Any other coach enthusiastically interested in taking the reins should be put on a watchlist.

      @workshoptelescope you need to look at the roster again and see how many playoff games this roster has played, and how many cups they've won. Steve handed Lalonde a capable roster

    • @workshoptelescope
      @workshoptelescope 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DefectiveSquash I’ve been looking at it all season long. They had a top 5 offense on an astronomically high shooting %. That isn’t a winning recipe, especially when they were 6th highest goals against. Yzerman wasn’t giving Lalonde a cup contender, no matter how many cups those veterans won elsewhere. This isn’t a skilled enough roster to do that.

    Why is spong not playing. Guys a 20-25goal scorer. Yet we have Perron in

    • @philhamilton8731
      @philhamilton8731 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sprong is a defensive black hole, Perron is strong on the puck and is great in the room. All effort and vet presence vs. all offense and no other upside. There's a reason why Sprong, who I like, has been a 3rd or 4th liner his whole career.

    Newsy is safe. If the same errors he's made last and this season continue into next, there may be a change. On Petry, I do agree that he should probably be scratched far more than he has, that he shouldn't be getting top pair minutes, but there's also a lot we don't know. Remember, one person doesn't lose us a game, the entire team loses us a game. A 0-1 loss in NSH, 0-4 loss in CAR, it's all on the team, each and every last player.

    • @slaybomb96

      Most coaches would get fired after a 7 game losing streak followed up but only 2 wins then another 4 game losing streak. That's terrible and he needs to be held accountable for that

    Legit question, how much is on newsy vs boughner who runs the defense? I know newsy is ultimately responsible, but he still has to trust and empower subordinate leaders in the assistants by taking their opinions into account

    I don't think he is on the hot seat quite yet. It's only his second season, and everyone predicted the team would be bad. Where the Wings are right now was probably the ideal scenario looking back from the beginning of the season: playing meaningful games in April. They are still playing better than last year, but January and February were an aberration.

    100% he is. This team is too good to be as mediocre as they are. I don't want to hear "we don't have talent" excuses. People need to remember we had the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference for a bit then lost it, then went on that 7 game losing streak. Most coaches around the league would get canned after losing that many games in a row. Need a new coach in the offseason

    • @bradmaguire9611
      @bradmaguire9611 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They have one legit top 2 defenseman, the rest are bottom 7 playing out of position or over the hill. Larkin is the only legit top 6 forward, Debrincat is too streaky doesn't play defense and needs a driver like Larkin to score, Kane is good but nowhere near as good as he used to be, and the rest of their forwards are mid to bottom 6 forwards on any other team. Name me the starting goalie, Husso was a backup before he came here, Lyon was a third stringer at best a backup who's never played more than 25 games in a year, and Reimer is barely good enough to be in the league, essentially they have 3 lifetime backups. Raymond may someday be a top 6 forward but he's 1-2 years away from reaching his potential. Where is this overwhelming talent you speak of? They were playing above what their expectations should have been for them for the first quarter of the year, then Larkin got injured and they got exposed for their lack of true top 6 players. And as far as the lalonde sucks talk goes, this is the first time in 6 years they have been in the fight for a playoff spot at this point in the season, with all the injuries, and the Lack of talent they have, I don't think any other coach is doing much better l, but what do I know I'm not a professional athlete, and neither are you, so maybe let's see what happens the rest of the year and go from there.

      This team is not “too good.”
      The team was in that position while riding an insane PDO bender, something Lalonde identified back in December as being a losing recipe. The team was punching waaaaaaay above its weight until Larkin went down and it got exposed for the paper tiger it is.

      @@bradmaguire9611 Disagree. Cat, Raymond, and Kane would be top 6 on just about every team in the league. Walman is a top 4 LD.

      @@workshoptelescope why do you still watch them if you think they aren't as good as people say they are? They where like top 5 in offense in the league for most of the season. Had mediocre defense but pretty solid goaltending for a bit there. They aren't a bottom feeder team like you are making them out to be

    The team is too poorly built, too unskilled a roster to play a functional system, whether Lalonde’s system is any good or not.
    Fans really got fully ensorcelled by the possibility they would make the playoffs and missed just how little this team looks like a playoff team.

    There is nothing wrong with coaching but something wrong with line chemistry and they are out of sync, and they miss their assignments during the 7-game loss. Hope on April 16th we should not come back and say we missed the playoffs by 1 point due to unwanted losses to Sharks, Anaheim and coyote (twice).

    • @GrindLinePod

      I'd agree if they didn't go on that 7 game streak and if the coaching tried to move around pairs or pulled guys like Petry. They didnt.
