Genuinely, I can see Raymond as a johnny Gaudreau RIP ❤ Smaller faster winger capable of 100 points in a season
Does Seider go higher than Raymond?
@@sens_outlook absolutely
100%
@@GrindLinePod7x8.55. Imo that price should be max term what do you think?
Wings will be here in Nashville early this year 1pm Saturday game i already got my tickets 🎟 Let's go 🛞🪽
No comparison to Martin St.Louis? Seems like a good one to me. Size compared to league average and his numbers starting out in the nhl are a little better.
That's another good one. I was trying to think of some examples from today's NHL.
Since u guys dropped this episode, Seider getting extended is imminent for this evening. Big news only happens after u guys drop a new episode
That is what we are trying to manifest 😂😂
Tyler...SMH...There was never a Chance of Berggren not getting a contract. Did you forget your lunch ?
Considering the fact that Berggren was being used as trade bait at the deadline and wasn’t overly thrilled about how he was used in the organization last season, him getting traded was never “far fetched” this offseason.
This aged super poorly. Probably worst episode you guys have done yet.
Because he signed 4 days later? We put out the episode and he didn't have a contract.
Raymond not practicing with the team waiting for a contract could be detrimental to his development, he has to train with the best and have his mind in the game. You see how every star in the NFL that holds out loses skill dramatically, then the team pays for them anyway but the player already had in his mind " I'm gonna suck until I get paid" Just pay him his money, he's a long term players, no less than 8 years
I'd be shocked. It doesn't matter if you go from 8 to 8.9 if you miss a year of an 8 year deal. It's hard to imagine they're over one million apart in expectations. Then again... if you want that top 3 draft spot, that would help you get there. Lol
If its really 8x8 and Yzerman isnt signing it idk what he is thinking. Raymond and Seider on 8x8's would be ideal.
You give Raymond whatever he wants. You tell Seider to take it or leave it.
@sergioalpert66 you give them both what they want. Seider is a 23 year old top RD. Very hard to find.
@@GrindLinePod I think some people overrate Seider. His brain shuts down when there's a scramble in front of the net. He is an all-time great at screening his own goalie.
Steve pass is over this situation has piss me off bad he had over a year to sign his 2 best young we have. This off season was a joke he did nothing to make this team better. Maybe be time for Steve to move up and give 1 of the assistant Gm the chance
I'd say he improved the team but Mo and Raymond should be signed.
Swayman is American, there are no visa issues with him practicing in Boston w/o a contract
I get being upset that Mo and Ray aren't stateside, but there may be INS / visa reasons behind that. While the team still holds their rights, they are technically not under contract, and technically don't have a job in the USA. We've seen that happen before, especially with European players, so it's quite likely they are staying there on the advice of their agency. Despite not being here, I think it's a really good sign that they are training together! I'm happy to wait a week or two into camp if it secures a long-term deal for both of them.
Look who bothered to show up. Did he bring his lunch?
@@kenyoung3265 not this time 🤣
Yes let’s trade Berggren for another mediocre small forward lmao ... much rather hang on to Berggren who’s been a dominate shl and ahl forward and who had much more offensive abilities. Can’t expect miracles from him when you shove him on a 4th line with garbage linemates Yzerman’s to blame for constantly delaying players . Agree with him on holding a stand with raymond and seider. This is a cap world, love seider but he’s not worth more money than makar and raymond shouldn’t get a penny over 8. Entice them with signing bonus’s. Yzerman will get them done
Will "Bad News" play Berggren? He is a career killer after all.
@@kenyoung3265 who the hell’s bad news
@socialmediag5485 Makar contract isn't recent. Cap goes up, contracts go up. Faber is the most recent comparable.
@@GrindLinePod seider is no where near the level of makar. Faber got 8 , seider shouldn’t get anything close to 9 . 8,5 is the absolute max
Maybe Yzerman should have "taken a stand" when negotiating contracts with Copp, Chiarot, Holl, and to a lesser extent, Compher. He overpaid those 4(and needlessly traded for Petry after just signing Holl, and now is when he is supposed to finally become a hard negotiator with the future stars of the team? Maybe he should learn some self restraint come July 1 instead and spend his cap dollars on the worthwhile players.
maybe its not dollars, but signing bonus amount that lockout proofs the contracts, and chris ilitch doesn't want it.
Wow. You guys are clueless. Go back and look at Stamkos contract negotiations with Yzerman in TB. Nothing new here. Save your overreactions for the Lions opener next year. Lol
Stamkos signed his post rookie 5-year deal on July 19th, 2011. He signed his 8 year extension in Tampa on June 29th, 2016.
@@GrindLinePod overreaction and superficial research. Yzerman walked Stamkos into FA in 2016 before he finally signed him. I love Lucas but he’s no Stamkos.
@directionallycorrect2027 Stamkos never made it to free agency. Signed 2 days before. Situation is not the same and Raymond is a star in the making.
No way Danielson makes the team. It's SY we're talking about. Needs 5 years in GR
@@GrindLinePod “up to” not “into” stupid phone. The rest is correct
The wing's need an Austin Watson type, on the bench at the least. Aren't you getting sick of teams like Ottawa beating up out players?
We have Ras and Edvinsson. Tarasenko will mix it up. We can't put a plug in just to fight.
Patches is not a player that this team needs. Time to start the rebuild with young players who have a lot to prove and are hungry. SY needs to get rid of old teammates and get actual quality Management who can help with who they need to be playing and not just a vet winning a spot because they are making money? Play the best players that show they have the ability to make the team better.
They are doing that. The Patches stuff is just a rumor and I expect 2-3 rookies to make the roster after camp.
I guess Kubalik really loves halloween since he was a ghost all year. damn what a falloff he had
awesome austin watson? in detroit? how cool!
hell no, he‘s washed
@@billsomebody4151 he's on a PTO that will probably amount to nothing. He's not necessary.
@@GrindLinePodhalf the Roster is washed up. I think SY should be Trading players and start the rebuild next season or even waive a contract I don’t care how much it is because some team might need a vet, for the young players they have. Detroit is the only team who is not playing enough youth who have more to prove than players who were paid too much for the non scoring or not defensively good but Bergs has to be better or sit while two players In Tarasenko and Kane that have no defense and bergs who can learn to play but is called out by a Hypocritic Coach that is afraid to do so with a vet.
@DTA555. berggren can not be compared to Tarasenko or Kane who both have far higher offensive ability.
Sorry, had Watsons stats up on the screen when talking about Patches.
Good pod! Finnie has to go back to junior. Prospects drafted from the OHL, WHL, or QMJHL can't be reassigned to the AHL until they've turned 20 or played in four seasons.
@zachary82 yeah we're familiar with the rule and don't like it. Was just confused because he played with GR at the end of the playoffs last season.
@@GrindLinePod it was just an ATO
Dmitri Buchelnikov got a goal and an assist in his first game this season!
What a shit podcast. Fuck of you losers.
Good Advice
Thanks again for having us on boys! Defiantly had to go buy ice cream after recording this one.... :)
Not sure how much more Jeff Petry slander I can take from Gerg.
Like Nick's reasoning about Daniel, but choose to see it this way. When Daniel enters GR, he does not lose himself in any way. And it has to do with his attitude about being responsible in his two-way game. He doesn't carry the team right away either and he wasn't registered for a Gordie Howe hat trick either. - What the hell did they think when he was drafted... As a Swede, I am deeply impressed by his way of playing and he will have a bright future in the NHL. Brandon - MBN will not play in GR from the start. Maby he will come over after SHL season, sure but naa The guy has played at Div 1 level at the highest level. He has gone this year UP to the SHL, which is a man's league that is better than the AHL. Shall thus play in one of the league's better teams, which is also the team that is the SHL champion. To believe other than that MBN will be in the SHL to grow into a man's world is to be unrealistic. Well there is a small risk that he can do that, slightly bigger than him taking a place in RW. What is best for him, to grow into his body and continue to have a positive development as he is only 18 years old. I would guess he is ~2-4 +/-:ish years out of the NHL and that time until the NHL entry shall not be seen as negative at all. But completely in line with normal development of young people. He was pick as 15 and and Norway had two players in the first round, never happened before. MBN has a lot of good things on his hockey resume, RW has all the time in the world to let this guy simmer and they should do soo...
AlJo better be a Wing cuz otherwise he's gone on Waivers
Great show guys thanks 😊 Can't wait for the season to start ❤
@@Joe-t3r9u thanks for watching!
Do you think the reason yzerman signed the extra defensemen because he doesn't expect seider to be signed in time?
@koreans1984 nah I think it's GR depth.
If he did that then he would be making the team even worse if they don’t let a Prospect who is going to help in more areas but that is just forward help and the team needs Seider and Edvinson to be able to win games because this Defense needs Seider and without it would hurt the team more than SY can imagine. Only reason Seider doesn’t have the best Stats is because he doesn’t have the Defense partner that is a top player that would not be out of position all the time.
And best ice cream flavour is any quality Blueberry ice cream. Or perhaps Ben and Jerrys Half-Baked.
It feels like Söderbloms playstyle is not locked to the level of hockey. He wouldn't be scoring 100 points in any level but he could score really good for a bottom 6 guy. Perfect for powerplay with that huge body and penalty kill with that long stick.
Thanks for the pod! Cheers, from Canada 😄
Thanks for the listen!
There signed, just waiting for them to come over from Europe. Just a gut feeling.
Sheesh some god awful takes here, Walman gets dumped and have a close look at our defensive pairings this year. Steve has made some god awful signings the past few years it’s time to stop forgiving every move because it’s steve.
God awful? I think that's a bit of an overreaction. We'll have Mo, Edvinsson, and Johansson. Gustafsson is a defensive upgrade over Ghost. Walman was bad last season with Mo.
Hi guys, I really don't care about your personal lives, I come here to hear about hockey. 👍
The only criticism I have of the Yzerplan is the Holl contract. Toronto fans were warning us. But sometimes people come here and catch fire so Steve is allowed one bust.
The Walman trade was about having even more cap available for the 25-26 season. Sucks to lose a fan favorite but he's easily replaceable and adds to an already large amount of money available for a top tier RHD or top 6 scorer. Keep in mind that if they land one of these 2 needs it's going to be an overpay. That's how free agency works, not just in hockey but any major professional sport. Shocker when he was traded but sensible when you look at the big picture.
Everyone forgets Walman’s injury at the end of the season is career threatening. He may never be the same player again, time will tell.
I like some of the Yzerplan. But nobody will ever just admit he has made a couple really bad decisions. The best current player on our team (Larkin) he didn't even draft.
Right ON !!! Some very bad signings..
@@ronproietti6050 be careful they might come after us
I wouldn't say really bad decisions because none have cost the team anything of significance. There were some questionable moves. The Holl signing was a failure. The Petry trade was unnecessary. The Larkin point is moot since the only other Holland draft picks on the roster are Michael Rasmussen and Joe Veleno. Yzerman has excelled at drafting and completely rebuilt the prospect pool.
Raymond is better than Larkin. He’s probably going to reach 80-90 points next season
@@GrindLinePod but that's my point they are never bad decisions they are questionable
Walman was the 2nd best D man on the team and we had to pay to get rid of him why? Stop with the get over it, it's OK to recognize it's a bad trade. Why sign him in the 1st place?
I'd argue that he wasn't second best last season. Sure he was in 2022-23 but last year there was a noticeable difference. Ben Chiarot was better last season. Now with Edvinsson in and spots needed it was the move that made sense.
Walman was the only defenseman not named Seider that Yzerman could trade then he got fleeced by the San Jose GM.
@@GrindLinePodSeider is just that good anyone on his line will look good. Walman and Chiarot barely make the 2nd line on most teams. Edvinsson came up last season and arguably was our 2nd best defender.
The Walman trade wasn’t about a return, it was about offloading a contract. Yzerman tried offloading Petry and Holl and had no takers. Walman could have been second best Dman on the team, but that’s no saying much. He’s a bottom player on most other teams, and his 21 points can easily be made up by a much cheaper Dman. Also, he’s got to look at the future too, we have many youngsters coming up. Gotta make space for them too. I’m sure this trade isn’t what Yzerman wanted, but it’s what was necessary.
@@GrindLinePod yeah 😂 ummm yeah 😂 keep the Yzerplan in place it's getting sad
Feels like there's a strong possibility the unsigned players are in Europe and will sign when they return to the states.
Hot Take. Lalonde and Yzerman won't see the end of the season.
Tarasenko agree he will I will give B+ or a B goal tending betterment play off this
Not a tryout both are on the team re: kasper MBN
The 2024/2025 SHL season begins with a full round on Saturday, September 21. Skellefteå AIK visits Malmo Redhawks and Skelleftea's next game is on 24 Sep, which is also an away game vs HV-71. Neither of them both will take a place in the Red wing this year, they are both expected to play in the SHL. Their presence is mainly to introduce (learn) the future of the team as well as everything around pre-season planning.
A lot of updates ??? I watched the first 15 minutes and there were zero updates.
