Iconic music. Good, simple gameplay. Great cutscenes and screen transitions. This was one of my first games as a toddler. Formative memories. When I could finally jump across those first couple of gaps and not get knocked back by the plants, then finally toppling the mini boss... I wouldn't beat the first floor boss until years later.
I think we all need to just take a moment and appreciate how good the translation is here. Games from this time. Usually had multiple typos and incorrect grammar all over the place. This game was localized pretty well and translated exceptionally.
Wow. There's an old memory. I only played it once or twice and I was bad at it, but it left enough of an impression that I at least remembered its name.
It took a while to get comfy with the battle system. Hit boxes were a little weird but once you got it, it was really fun to work through. Really deep story and cutscenes and great music too.
I've played this game a fair amount. It's a pretty good game. You should really check out an NES game called Frankenstein. I never heard of it growing up but I started playing it as an adult and I really enjoy it. I have to tell you I really appreciate your videos. I have gotten my ten year old son into playing classic NES games I grew up with and its great that he can watch these walkthroughs with me and I don't have to worry about language. I am not personally offended by foul language but I don't like my kids hearing it so being able to watch your videos with him without worrying about that is great. Thanks a lot.
@@kennethmccullah4905 oh man I’m glad to hear that! Same here - I personally don’t care but did want to make these games accessible for as wide an audience as possible. Appreciate the kind words! I’ll have to give Frankenstein a look

This was brand new to me when I learned it. I’d seen it as a pretty cheap buy for the OG hardware but had never tried it. This was really rich with story and cutscenes which I loved
of all the obscure nes games i had THIS one as a kid. this and that weird rom hack of pocket monsters that made the playable characters into batman and robin. and that is the only thing changed.
This one was really good! Obscure yes, but that’s one of the things that made NES collections so fun. You’d show the collection to a friend and they’d stop you and go “wait, what is THAT?” At least you had a fun one to show them.

Haha, I teach the Iliad to high schoolers. I just know Astyanax as the infant son of Hector and Andromache from the Trojan war. According to the mythology, Astyanax was pushed off the walls of Troy after the Greeks sacked it. This Astyanax seems to fare much better
I'm surprised you didn't comment (or possibly notice) that when you climb up the mountain to Blackhorn's castle; it's filled with all his prisoners (in the background).
