Storm staffer and 5-time U.S Open Champion Pete Weber explains "the shot", and the reaction that went viral all over the world...brought to you by Storm Products,
@Nicholas Pagano It's not like he ran up to the kid's face and screamed at him. Though that would have been hilarious. Also, he said kid but it could have been a 22 year old for all we know.
Supposedly, there wasn’t actually a kid in the audience. There’s some talk about when Pete’s down or not doing good he creates a fictional antagonist in the audience and has “fights” with them for the camera and to pump himself up . Watched a whole documentary on him one time because of this fucking meme.
EDIT: the following is my unedited post; my views have since changed Makes it worse actually. PWJ (Petty Worthless Jackass), aka Pete Weber, thinks people watch bowling for his WWE-like antics and overall crybaby attitude. I can only speak for myself, but I'll watch bowling for moments and reactions like Mark Roth getting the 7-10 split. I don't watch bowling to see some spoiled, crackhead creep who thinks he is a heel wrestler, who in reality couldn't beat up an egg. Wearing gaudy gold chains and sunglasses indoors trying to look cool (or at least what he thinks is cool) is just pathetic. And that bitching about flash photography or people in the audience moving while he's performing what he thinks is his art... for God's Sake, grow up, grow some balls, and maybe grow some thicker skin! If I wanted to watch THAT kind of bullshit, then I would watch WWE. At least it's meant to be entertaining THERE.
TonyTheCat1 I watch bowling for his WWE antics. He and Ernie Schlegel are my favorites. It’s the same reason why casuals only tune in for Conor McGregor fights and so on. Personalities are vital for television.
@@NateCraven318 chill man. A sport like needs a personality like Weber to keep it entertaining. Clearly you have a shit personality, and are jealous SOB.
@@RomanSwak is it actually incorrect in a grammar sense? I think "I am" is a legitimate sentence (a sentence only requires a subject and a verb) and "Who do you think you are?" is obviously fine. It's phrased in a strange way but it is grammatically correct. This is the beauty of language.
@@evan8654 if viewed as two separate sentences, they are grammatically correct themselves, although don't make sense paired after one another. If viewed as one sentence, it doesn't make sense. You're correct, language sure is funky.
it's cool to hear someone who made a publicly known nonsensical outburst explain what was going through his brain and the intended message - it's a fun way to get to know how someone thinks!
Is this a “publicly known nonsensical outburst”?!?!!?!? It was him reacting after winning a game… how anyone can see the original clip as a “nonsensical outburst” is beyond me.
Crazy thing is I watched this live as a little kid. I turned on my TV and this bowling tournament happened to be on and it was the 10th frame so I watched. That was crazy to see but even crazier to see how his reaction blew up and went viral.
There is nothing wrong with the exclamation, in the heat of the moment, to let yourself go in triumph. Uncut, unadulterated, truly believable...PDW has proven to the world that you can overcome adversity to be a champion. He is truly becoming a legend and there is more to come...count on it!!!
Gotta say I respect that he can at least laugh at the quote and knows it was just a goofy fuck up. It’s always nice to see people with a good sense of humor and that they can take a joke
And because he messed up, and goofed up what he wanted to say, it became iconic. Now people who aren’t into bowling know him for that line and that’s pretty cool how a mistake ended up benefiting him more
Kinda like “the greatest peoples elbow” from the Rock is when his shoes made him slide, which he didnt intend to do, but it became the most iconic visual of the Rock’s flair!
Just Awesome !!!! Firstly, if it wasn’t for Pete, I wouldn’t be watching bowling. The hair, the shades (the stache, back in the day) and the intensity!!! The concentration and focus that goes into sport, and like he says the strike to win and the emotions of victory !!! Agreed, seeing and hearing him talk about it here is great. Some people just don’t get it, how when you are on the field of play of your choice there is that intensity level you need, and reach. But when it’s done, you can leave it on the field, that’s what I really enjoy about this clip. It’s like you are right there talking to him, thanks for this.
imagine being in your 50s yelling at a kid saying "who do you think you are rooting against me? I'm the man of this tournament!"...like, i like how he thinks he screwed up because he got those words wrong...
I miss the golden days of bowling with PDW. He’s the everyman hero. Who doesn’t love hanging out at the bowling alley. Drinking beer, eating fries, and you can still bowl a 200. Then shoot some pool later and drink more beer.
You can tell he's a little embarrassed about it, but it's good to see he's accepted it. We all act kind of silly when we get excited. I would definitely be annoyed if people were coming up to me all the time saying that Lol
In the “fighting game community” (FGC), we call these moments, where a competitor earns a victory then celebrates, “pop-offs”. Its the opposite for me. I used to like him a lot until I found out and watched how he belittled a child for moving. He is a professional. Bowling has a hard time getting real fans so you don't belittle them. If you can't bowl distracted then don't bowl and besides id be more distracted by that camera that was on the ball return it moved with you so you had to be distracted but to blame a kid because you missed a shot. Thats a bitch move. If I would have been there I would have heckled him till I got thrown out.
I always took it as how you see in religions where a deity is referred to as "I am." Meaning Weber is like a god of bowling. So to me its like someone asking you "Who do you think you are?" and the response being "I am."....I think "I am" overthinking it but thats what its always sounded like and meant to me. Pete Weber is definitely godlike in PBA. Its always a blast watching him bowl.
The fact that it was him flexing on a lil kid makes it so much better.
@Nicholas Pagano It's not like he ran up to the kid's face and screamed at him. Though that would have been hilarious. Also, he said kid but it could have been a 22 year old for all we know.
