In this 1 hour intermediate to advanced class we will clear your energy channels (nadis) and increase the quantity and quality of prana (energy) stored in your body. Our pranic (energy) body is made up of thousands of wire-like structures that conduct shakti called the nadis. Nadi is a flow of energy. It is said there are 72,000 nadis in our physical body, however when our body is full of impurities, vayu or breath does not enter them. What are the impurities? They are the waste and residue from our energetic body. Just like the excess fat accumulates around our blood vessels and obstructs the flow of blood, on an energy level there can also be an accumulation of waste. With this build up of waste our body’s ability to circulate energy lessens and we feel lethargic.
We will begin our hatha yoga practice in bridge pose and then move into reclined twist to remove impurities from our body. Sleeping pigeon will release your hips and downward facing dog will help to release your spine. Alternate nostril breathing is a pranayama that supports purification and balances energy. Breath of joy builds energy in your body. Lunge pose with a twist helps to release toxins from your body. Wild Thing pose helps to open your body to positive energy. We will finish with a twist to release toxins from your body and kapalabhati breath or skull shining breath to remove impurities from your body and to energize you.

Chapter Two Verse Four of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, "The vital air does not pass in the middle channel because the nadis are full of impurities." Our pranic (energy) body is made up of thousands of wirelike structures that conduct shakti called the nadis.
With this build up of waste our body's ability to circulate energy lessens and we feel lethargic.
Chapter Two verse five of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, "When all the nadis and chakras which are full of impurities are purified, then the yogi is able to retain prana." As yogis it is important to clear our energy channels (nadis) and also increase the quantity and quality of prana stored within our bodies. Purification of the chakras and the nadis is the first step for yogis.
According to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, "pranayama should be done daily with a sattvic state of mind so that the impurities are driven out of sushumna nadi and purification occurs." Sushumna is the central channel and sattvic means steadiness or in harmony.
Purification of the nadis means that shakti can flow throughout your body unhindered. When your body is purified through your yoga practice you will give off a radiance and glow. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, "When you practice hatha yoga, there will be visible changes in your physical appearance, in the nature of hunger and thirst, in the frequency of urination and bowel movement, in the quality or smell of your perspiration, the structure of your physical body, the quality of your voice, in the quality of your thoughts and meditation and the quality and quantity of your sleep."
Love this session. Thank you very much. Namaste.
Oh wow!! So that means I have 2 more of these amazing practices!!! I have been following you and the TH-cam videos for over a year now! I finally committed to doing yoga every day this year and so far, I have only missed a couple of days! Next on the agenda - join the membership site! LOVE practicing with you daily! Fabulous Kim. Thank you for following us for the past year. :) Congratulations on your commitment to your yoga this year. That is amazing that you have been able to be so consistent. We would love to have you as a member of our community. The shorter practices make it easier to practice every day when time is at a premium. Thank you for your gratitude, it is my honor and privilege to share the teachings of yoga. Namaste, Melissa
I like these breathing exercises. I couldn't do he hippy dog twist though!
thank you
you're welcome
Hi Melissa, I have just found you a few days ago 'by coincidence' ...hmmm....with your wonderful restorative video Namaste 71. Since then I've listened to 171 and 192...so lovely it was like coming home.
My situation is I have severe CFS so my para-sympathetic system is hardly operating and I'm stressed all the time!! Today after 192 I experienced a lovely sense of pure peace. Thankyou.
I wondered if you would sometime maybe do a session for everyone who has low energy and maybe, like me, can only rest out and listen.
Today you have been my greatest blessing.
Happy Christmas Melissa...love from Carole xxx

Hi Carole, Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind comments. I have had several requests for a series on Yoga for Recovery/Recuperation and so I do plan to put something like that together this year. Thanks for your request. Namaste, Melissa
LOVE this series, but am wondering, you keep mentioning it is 20 segments long and the playlist only shows 18. Am I missing something?
Thanks Kim :) Sorry about that, I had just forgotten to add the last two classes to the playlist. Thanks for reminding me. They are added now. :) Namaste, Melissa
