- Join us on our journey from Kuala Lumpur via Miri to a small village in Sarawak call Long Banga with friends. An eye opening adventurous journey. Karl and Angie's traditional wedding and Christmas 2014. A big thank you to the Kenyah and Saban folks for the warm hospitality and for welcoming us into your humble family.

my mom is Iban , my dad is Kayan. I brought my partner home to SUngai Asap for Christmas 2019.. he loved it.. and was so surprised to hear Wind of Change being played in the middle of Sarawak.. (he's a German).. I told him the song is quite famous in Malaysia.
Must have been a eye opening experience for him. I’m sure he loved it.

The name of the tribe or ethnic group (suku kaum) of Long Banga is Saban which is one of the smallest tribes in Sarawak with a different language and culture that are a little bit similar to Kelabit and Lun Bawang. The Saban are BEM Christians. Also mentioned in video is a visit to a nearby Kenyah village. The Kenyah is a completely different tribe with a different language and with a larger population. These tribes, along with other upriver tribes such as the Kayan and many others, are grouped together for political purposes as the Orang Ulu. The term Orang Ulu is not a tribe or ethnic group but is a group of ethnic groups. Each tribe has its own hereditary chief or chiefs who are chosen from the tribes’ nobility families.

I really miss my hometown especially My parents, culture and of course food!
Everyone who stay overseas or far away will understand how hard it is when it come to food. Living here in US, I can't stop thinking about going back again to Borneo, eat delicious fresh food, and of course visiting my hometown. Hopefully we can go back 4@5 years later.

Though I'm from West Malaysia (orang semenanjung), I have friends from Sabah and Sarawak, they are really AWESOME, taking care of their cultural and way of life though they are well educated people. Went Borneo in 2013 for 4month expedition. KK, long Pasia, Keningau, Miri, Bintulu, Lahad Dattu, Danum Valley..... All ppl for on there are definitely friendly and chillful all the way. They teach me dance pocopoco, sing song anak kampung, tinggi-tinggi Kinabalu..etc . Till today the memory still fresh in my mind. Will visit Borneo again soonest.

I'm a half Kenyah (my father's side) and i'd never been exposed to any Kenyah's cultural life and to attend any Kenyah's traditional wedding. I was thrilled and appreciated of your arts. At least I knew how the wedding was being conducted in such a beautiful way.

WOW..Yes, I had the honour to meet and attend Anne's wedding as well. After that we had caroling practice followed by a simple campfire by her hubby's house under the stars. She was lovely.
