    Not a fan of the show as a whole, but man
    Best ballad they've had in a long time, and that's not to say Crown has bad ballads (theirs are some of the best, bar none), but this one is REALLY good imo

    This put Crown on my radar, I was a marching band geek way back but never got into DCI - but this is really incredible. Hell, I've since watched some of their tuning circle exercises - really fantastic.
    Would love to find a Hi-Fi recording of this to put through some good (big) speakers/headphones; I hope they put one out.

      DCI usually releases an official recording a few months after the season is over. It's generally a really good recording and I love listening to it on my Hi-Fi setup. Really looking forward to the album version of Crown, Troopers, BD, and Bloo!

      if you never got into DCI you were doing yourself a disservice. there have been countless incredible hornlines/recordings over the years. marching band is jack squat by comparison.

    1:36 Some over playing in the low brass but knowing Harloff it'll be taken care of by season end!

      it's always those baritones man. The nature of drum corps baritone

    • @BluesClues2s
      @BluesClues2s 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Doesn't help that they dropped the 16 tuba line. The bari voice is naturally gonna over balance

    • @garcar2814
      @garcar2814 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Idk I think they should play louder

    • @unknownd965

      The thing about marching bands, but drum corps specifically is that there’s always 2 kinds of people overplaying normally, those being trumpets and baris. So it’s not entirely their fault, specifically trumpets since trumpets are naturally louder, baritones have to match the sound so yeah they’re overplaying but it will be fixed eventually it’s just a balance issue

    They have to get rid of the concert bass hit in the pit with the low brass "FF" entrance at 0:57...even though in time, it sounds like there is a timing flam...and every on-field video makes it sound worse.

    • @BluesClues2s

      Oh is that what that is.... Been bugging me this whole time but I wasn't able to figure out why

    • @k.coleman9317
      @k.coleman9317 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somehow I cannot see all of the replies here, and I accidentally deleted one of my own...*shrugs*...the result is the same. There is a perceived flam at the impact point and it needs addressing.

      I’m not sure if you’ve seen the show in person or not, but it sounds much better in person. I was worried about it too until I heard it live

    • @k.coleman9317
      @k.coleman9317 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sammy2Watkins No, not live. I made a philosophical choice to not attend shows anymore. I still like that the kids have these opportunities, but the activity has gone places that no longer interest me in entertainment value.
