  • Learn how to accurately assemble any of your fusible appliqué blocks using the tips and techniques Jen teaches you in this video. It's a longer, more in-depth tutorial, so if you're new to appliqué, set aside some time to watch.
    Jen demonstrates on the Santa's Stable Block-of-the-Month Quilt, but the techniques you'll learn can be used on any fusible appliqué project.

    I have learned a lot from all of your videos that I have watched, and there have been quite a few! I am going to be calling y'all tomorrow to order the things I need for the applique kit I got to make for my daughter's Christmas gift. The Blooming Butterflies Quilt. I had no idea where to start, but I think I'll be able to make it work. Thank you for your kind and honest guidance. Doe Harden

    I like the fact that you discuss your mistakes. It is the most helpful for people like me who have a tendency to try to use short cuts.

    This is a great tutorial for any level of appliqué! Your detailed instructions are so helpful. I have done both machine and hand appliqué several times in quilts, Christmas Tree skirts and table runners. It is a great design element. I have also previously purchased an appliqué quilt kit from Shabby Fabrics that had the pre-cut pieces. They are so worth the time and money! I made my own Lori Holt design boards in different sizes several years ago from a tutorial with her before she was selling them. So glad Riley Blake is selling them now. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge of quilting with us! ♥️♥️.

      Thanks for this kind comment Rebecca! We're so glad you enjoyed the video and have made so many wonderful appliqué projects. We're also glad you enjoy our kits. The pre-fused, laser-cut appliqué really is convenient and saves so much time, and turns out beautifully.
      We're so glad Lori Holt is selling them through Riley Blake, too. We love all of her products because she puts so much thought into how they are used. They all work so well. Thank you so much for watching! We sure do appreciate you.

    I really learned a lot from this video tutorial. Are you going to show how to stitch down all the pieces for each block. I don't know how to do that and I'm sure there are others that would love to see tutorials of how to stitch the elements on each block. I would really love to order this BOM but I'm afraid I would be stuck with a fused quilt top and not have the elements stitched down. I would love to make this for my grandchildren that moved to Wisconsin where it snows a lot. I'm from Central Texas and it hardly ever snows here.lol

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question, Debra. When you stitch down these pieces all you're going to do is follow the outline of the shape. You can do a straight stitch or zig-zag, whatever you prefer. On the very small pieces, you can choose to just stitch a couple of tiny stitches to hold the shape in place. All you want to do is secure the shapes, and the way you do it is up to you -- you can get creative or be simple.
      I'll pass that video idea on to our team. In the meantime, you can ask me any questions here or give us a call. If you do join the BOM, we'll help you be successful so you don't end up with a quilt top that doesn't have secured appliqué pieces!

    Do you need to do anything after the fusing is done? Do you do a blanket stitch or anything?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! For fusible appliqué, we like to do machine stitching whenever possible. We typically use a combination of straight stitch on the smaller pieces and blanket stitches on the larger ones. You could use a satin zig-zag stitch as well. You can also appliqué these by hand, if you prefer. For that, we would do a blanket stitch. - Morgan
