    Just finished the BOM Believe Applique and Monther's Day Pansy's Applique projects today. While there aren't wool, I used so much that I learned from this video. Jennifer was absolutely write. Can't imagine doing any applique project without the applique pressing sheet. What a great tool. Also, Jen has been totally right about the need for friction pens, micron pens, and the 2.5 X 6 ruler. Absolute essentials for any sewing room.

    I wonder if ironing the shape flex on the bottom instead of top would be good. It seems like you could handstitch without going through the sticky on fusible as you wouldn’t need to go all the way through? Thanks for beautiful video.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can iron the shape flex onto the bottom of your Shabby mat; however, the shape flex is used to stabilize the wool so that it does not move as much while you are doing appliqué and embroidery stitching. -Kyla

    To make layouts easy (when a lightbox doesn't work) I have printed the layout--footprint--on a transparency and put it together just like the footprint. Then I can lay it on top of the project and see where the parts should go. Once part is in place, the transparency has to be moved before ironing.

    • @ShabbyFabrics

      Fusible web is very popular for appliqué. It melts to adhere the fabrics together and is available in various weights. • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did do our fusible off-camera for this video, but Jen talks you through how to do it from about the 8 minute mark to the 11 minute mark. You'll trace your shapes using our reversed diagram to the fusible, then cut roughly around the edge. Then you'll fuse that down to your wool, cut it out exactly on the line, and then fuse that down to your background.
