Dear Chaithra Dn ,
It was given by the USA to help its pharma company to gain facilities provided for Rare disease drugs producers(Orphan drug manufacturers). In the USA, for Orphan drug manufacturers government provides special provisions like tax incentives. Because these drugs are not financially viable all the time, so to incentivise innovation and production of these orphan drugs, usually governments provide such special incentives.
