The Bells of Worcester Cathedral

- As the last tower on the Young Bell Ringer's Outing to Worcester on 1 February 2014, organised superbly by Laura Davies, we were privileged to be allowed to ring at Worcester Cathedral for the evening service.
The bells are the 8th heaviest ring in the world, (the 7th heaviest 12,) and were cast in 1928 by Taylor's of Loughborough, They sound simply magnificent, and are acoustically very good inside and out. However, they are not easy to ring, being hung in the old (1869) frame from the previous ring, which wobbles about more than a fair bit! However, I didn't think these were as ludicrously difficult as people would have you believe so long as you keep pulling!! Footage here is of the ringing room, belfry (more for the sound because the lighting was poor,) and the roof for a view over Worcester. Enjoy! :-)

(With thanks to Laura for allowing me the use of her photo for the exterior of the Cathedral as I didn't get a chance to take one!! Also, you can see on the roof view how flooded the area is from the River Severn!!)
