I've noticed that Erwann has been giving great representation of our dear Muslim brothers and sisters in his channel. My roots is from Northern Mindanao but I'm now a citizen in Canada. Living in Canada has changed my point of view with different cultures as it's a country known for cultural diversity. Thanks Erwan, this will definitely changed stereotypes and perspective. Your wife and Dahlia must be very proud of you. 😊
That is sad that you had to live in a different country to have a different view of other’s cultures. I’m from northmin also and I never treated Muslims or other indigenous peoples different. I have had friends and co-workers that are Muslims and Lumad and I’ve treated them since childhood not as inferior or superior just equal to me.
This video brings me goosebumps! Born in Basilan but Igorot by blood. Erwan mentioned "from the Cordilleras to Basilan". That's just me. That's just amazing!
@@NiX_aKi nope. My grandfather is from Misamis Occidental who ventured to Basilan as an agriculturist. My lola is from Benguet to had an opportunity to work as a nurse in Isabela City. That's how my grandparents met. Then rest is history.
For someone that haven't been home in the Philippines for the past 8 years, thank you for always showing us these parts of Motherland that we weren't able to reach. Always great content FEATR!
I really appreciate your documetaries. Especially how erwan gave his positive insight about Basilan and how culture exchange can be possibly known from one region to another. Still looking for more travel documentaries from you Erwan and Team Featr! You'll really deserved the James Beard Foundation Awards! 🥳🥳🥳
Sa lahat ng blogger ang taong ito lang ang may lakas loob pasukin ang mindanao. Maraming masasarap na food sa Mindanao na hindi alam ng iba.. Good job Sir Erwan. Salute
Waitt a minute where you living in the Philippines?? HAHAHAHA I’m assuming that your from luzon? I’m been living here in maluso basilan but it’s been peaceful this days i just hope that other part of tge philippines won’t be afraid of exploring the mindanao 😢
Napakaganda pala jan sa Basilan maraming salamat Erwan sa pag prisinta mo at sa kakaibang putahe .na hindi ko pa nskikita dito sa manila at ibang country .thank you and god bless .
Great video Erwan! Basilan is an amazing place, I visited this february as a solo backpacker traveling through less known areas in the Philippines. Apparently I was there a few days before you and your crew, which is quite funny as you were the one who made me want to fly to the Philippines and explore the food and culture in the first place! 😏 A truly spectacular place! However I did run into quite some difficulties, and I think this important to mention. I believe Basilan is perfectly safe and to deny that is quite ridiculous based on real world data as you mentioned in the section at Malamawi beach. I wasn’t allowed to buy a ferry ticket in Zamboanga, had to be profile checked at the coast guard like some criminal, then told I need a contact in Basilan, which I obviously didn’t have but made some connections in Zamboanga which led me to a friendly lady who agreed to host me. After arriving in Isabela I was made to think that I would stop by the tourism office and visit the mayor, which was requested of me and then I would be able to check out the island a bit (in the company of my minder, as it was unthinkable to let me walk around Basilan alone 🙄😬) I found this truly ridiculous, yes I saw the beauty of Basilan, met friendly people, but spent most of my time in various offices taking selfies and getting shuttled everywhere by a car and guards with assault rifles. I have visited well over a 100 countries and this was definitely the most over the top measures I have seen. It is great that a lot of people like you and Kulas are giving voice to the inhabitants and the beauty of this region of the Philippines because they and their culture truly deserve it. But at the same time I think it is important to shed light onto this negative side. All the people at city council keep saying how safe it is and how they appreciate my effort of flying from Europe to the the Sulu archipelago with my own eyes and not trust the media. At the same time I am restricted in movement and not left alone at all. In the end a truly bittersweet trip. The officials should get their stuff together, Either we want tourism as we say and promote by actually letting people come, or we don’t. I hope they choose the former and communicate things better because the people truly deserve it and the potential is amazing in Basilan island and all around the Sulu archipelago I am sure 😏🤩🇵🇭 I thought I had to mention this 😌 Thanks Erwan and the FEATR crew for an amazing video once again and I am here still supporting you guys 💪🏻😏 Sending my regards from Europe to you and the great people of Basilan 🤲🏻😎🇵🇭🌏 But man I am craving a cassava puto right now 😬🤭
5hanks for your honest detailed story of what you went through but still appreciating the beauty of Basilan and it’s people. So sorry that you met all these difficulties that of course sort of ruined your stay. Yes hopefully they read this and put things together to attract more tourists.
Again, as a Pinoy, thank you Erwan and FEATR for opening our eyes to these beautiful glimpses into our own culture that we would be oblivious to, if not for you guys.
FEATR has grown so much! Compared to previous videos, I appreciate the balance in narration and storytelling between Erwan giving his commentaries and the locals of Basilan actually speaking about their food themselves. There’s a great sense of empowerment in doing that. Keep up the good work! :)
Erwan has grown so much as person. when I was 1st introduced to him on Will's channels. It crazy how long ago that was but it seems so fresh in my mind. Erwan, that's how much of impression you make. ✌️
Hi Sir Erwan, I am a big fan. I enjoyed your content. I live here now in the USA. I am a Filipino and am proud being me “filipina “. I am just living in my own simple ordinary life. Here in the US, no one is interested to listen to me when I start sharing my beautiful Philippines with my co workers and friends. I feel bad but I’m also felt fortunate to be a Filipino who has a beautiful country in nature, and a varieties of cultures which is made me feel different from anybody else in this world. I feel so special given the favorable love that God can give. My Philippines is my paradise and would like to share it with everyone around the world but failed. So I am so thankful of you and others who helped to promote tourism in there so the locals can earn money when tourists visit. I am a Filipino but never get any chance to visit the places where you are. Thank you so for doing it. May God bless you and please take care and be safe and be aware that not 100% are good people maybe in the Philippines there’s 1 or 2% are bad. Just be safe and enjoy your exploration around the Philippines. ❤

Erwan ang galing mo! I love your passion for food, cooking and promoting our country.
Omg i love this erwan and the team behind the camera. Thank you for showing it to us. I like how their guide in tourism explained. I went to Zamboanga like 15yrs ago and I really want to go to Basilan at that time but I was being told that it’s dangerous. I really hope more tourists will come and experience the beauty of Basilan. I love that white sand beach 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much. Thru your vlog I had a glimpse of the culture of Basilan. How I wish to taste those foods! ❤
you should be appointed as a head of the tourism department,, this exactly how you promote culture and beautiful places in the phillipines
