I love how she explains how to do everything and in the end she was having a conversation about something else I loved that also, kind of takes the edge off of the whole learning thing and you can kind of enjoy the art. Amazing 👏 very good.
I did this in children oil pastel and the effects didn't come out as well, but I'm still reaaally satisfied with the final product. I've never thought I can do something as good as it! Thank you so much!
U did wonderful I like how u speak of what ur doing ur a great tutor for me thanks and ur right soft pastel and oil get very very messy for me lol keep up the great work
Sam _Rocket The reason you don't want to use printer paper is it can't hold near as much without warping. And it can't screw with your colors sometimes. I learned that the hard way. You don't have to spend lots of money on paper but you should definitely try actual media paper. It makes things easier.
Very good tutorial. It's nice to watch people paint, draw, etc., but it's so much more helpful if they tell us what they're doing along the way. I'm a beginner with soft pastels, so this was very helpful. Did I miss you saying what kind of paper you're using? I got some pastel paper with a kit, but it's horrible, because no matter how many layers I tried to use, I could still see the terrible patterned grain of the paper. Thanks!
Honestly, I use the side of my pastels so they are too long out of the box. But I am SUPER type-B. Broken materials are pretty standard in my classroom anyway. I teach in a public high school. Nothing stays pristine for long :)
@@elizabethvaughn7696 i wish u could teach me, i can not do this but i have oil pastels. They aren't chalk they are the round ones and they don't blend together, which made me kinda upset.
i have bad vision, what colors did you use for the island and palm tree? looks black. thank you, i have been meaning too look something like this up for years... i always thought water in a sunset would be hard, but it's so easy! thank you for this inspirational video! i love sunsets with a passion...
Elizabeth Vaughn thanks very much. bad vision makes it hard to do the water, but ive seen people using white for surf. the island is a great easy adition. im using my pastel pencils for the palm trees. unfortunately i don't have cheap soft pastels to practice with, my sister gave me prismacolors a year or two ago. as for the water, i'm going to have to watch as i do it. best wishes, and merry christmas. thank you for the inspiration.:)
This was my second time doing a chalk pastel drawing, and it turned out amazing! Thanks you! I got mungyo pastels, it’s a 64 pack and I’m pretty sure it’s only $6
Joshua the pubg master awe thank you! And you’re right, any chalk pastels will work. Oil pastels work a bit differently. I make the for my students so they’re probably the ones disliking it 😂
Any decent, toothy paper will yield good results. I like Strathmore pastel paper. These are Dick Blick Brand pastels. The cover of the box is shown at 0:10
Many artists do the video at fast motion. But u explained it so that others could understand and I liked this element of yours.
It is very easy and good SALUJA true very sensible!!

This is so helpful. I always found using color so daunting, that I've kept my work strictly black and white for years. :D Thank you for the video.
This is beautiful. I'll try to recreate!
Thank you for the video. I might try the same artwork using oil pastels. Though I can't use all the techniques I will try it anyway!

Does anyone else just use normal printer paper

Soft pastels is what they're called in stores around here. I just bought some yesterday. This would be a nice piece to start with!

What size paper did you use? That sunset looks so real!
Beautifully done! Thanks for going slow
You have expressed very easily
is this soft pastel, extra soft pastel or hard pastel? thank you
Hi. This is beautiful. Can i use your video as reference for my project? .i will tag you .... please????
Absolutely! I do these for my classes in the public school where I teach. Feel free. thank you for tagging me :)
What kind of paper am I supposed to be using?
Why do people dislike this? Your an awesome artist, but does it matter what type of pastel u use

@@elizabethvaughn7696 thank you so much
Nice
What brand of pastels did you use? They are so smooth.
Heather Nelson they’re Blick brand, from DickBlick.com and I always use these as beginning pastels for high school students
@@elizabethvaughn7696 thank you so much!!
very beautifull painting my dear friend.
very cool.
It doesn’t really matter the brand I have different ones and it still works
can i use oil pastels?
Erlens Miklavs This IS Oil Pastels
Erlens Miklavs Oh, I mean Yeah I think so (Sorry I thought it was Oil Pastels)
Popricornious Queen okay thanks
Erlens Miklavs Yes but Soft Pastels are really good at blending.
Erlens Miklavs I did, and it was rather tough, but it still looked quite nice
I want to know the company name of the oil pastels you used and what paper is more better for oil pastel drawing.
I use Blick brand chalk pastels, not oil, on a standard 80 pound white sulfite drawing paper.
NİCE🤗
Wonderful
Thank you.
Merci beaucoup !
Pas de problème
The scenery is awesome but you would try some other way of the tree 🌲 🌲 🌲🌲🌲🌲 good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!best of luck
Wouldn't it be easier to use black paper for this kind of motive?
I’ve never tried, but I am using student grade pastels so it might be better with professional grade materials
What kind of paper was used??
hari n some paper
Please tell me what color You used in this drawing
Santosh Mehra I use Dick Blick brand chalk pastels
can I use oil pastel for blending
that would be way better
Shayne Mae Galang well they don't work as well and the kind of drag the darker colour when you try to blend it
Sam _Rocket yeah i did it with oil pastels if you do a light coat of white it will be ok
I am doing it at the moment with twistables but I keep messing up on the watter.. 😢
Allah Allah ya
Oil or chalk?
