i planned to watch no creator builds and have fun discovering the game at my own pace. I think PoE 2 EA would provide enough content to have fun exploring game mecanics.
It's so exciting to see new, complex, and synergistic mechanics that even goes beyond what we have in PoE1 right now. My first character will be built around the new dodge roll mechanic. Trillions of damage, here I come!
Mechanics breakdown videos once the game is out would be great. There's just too many for new players in PoE1 but this is our chance to get in at the ground floor and have a good understanding of the game for the rest of it's life.
My dream of a sorc monk will be fullfilled in November. Palm skills with quarterstaff to stack up on charges, use unleash with elemental staff and then blast them with a sorc spell that consumes those charges.....or something like this :)
My plan is already set. I'll pick the coolest looking skill or interaction from the announcement stream and go with the flow. Not knowing what will be the best build or if the choosen build will work at all is the fun part. And the worst thing is that we can't get back to the innocence of our first ever character until PoE3 in a long time from now.
@@SummonSkeletons you are right ! but the thing is the game defs build the game for these meta builds and this is why i hate it. especially in diablo 4 the skill system is very boring.
I get PoE2 is more combo heavy, but i will always be a fewer buttons the better player in any game, i'll be doing my best to get through the game with a single skill, the more buttons i have to mash, the less fun i will have. Thinking maybe something like that bow ability that creates the poison clouds on a ballista totem (if possible) then manual casting a fire ability to blow it all up.
With 9 possible different skills you could have 4 mapping skills and 5 completely different boss skills which you can switch to without any gear swaps. Of those skills you probably hit 1 or 2 buttons many times and 1-3 buttons every 5-10 seconds
I think of important note is that due to how things work for PoE 2 it may actually be nessesary for players to change a few things about the build because of how often they actually make use of each of the skills. We will likely see a lot more varients of each build
My plan is elemental monk, as I already know lightning monk is going to be cool with quarterstaffs. Using the extra weapon tree to branch into a different element. Either that or I go Elemental DoT witch, as I am sure there will be a whole bunch of DoTs in game and all I need to do for DoTs is overlap them.
Toughest thing for me will be remaining flexible. It's even hard in POE1. One thing I love one league gets wrecked the next. For example, I had a winter orb build one league that I really loved that was not possible again after that league -- can't remember why... Some craft or suffix went away or a node on the tree got changed or moved out of reach -- like reservation efficiency and needed all the auras to feel good with less than 5 mirrors. (I might be confusing builds, so please don't bother calling my BS here) Honestly, it's one of my biggest gripes about POE1. Majority of players seem to complain if a league lasts longer than a couple months. I'd rather things be unchanged for 6 months or longer. In POE1, even standard characters get bricked every other league. Anyway, I think being flexible will be especially difficult in EA, where I'm sure things will be HIGHLY chaotic, with lots of patches and balancing changes. I don't want to erroneously set my expectations based on something fleeting and have to battle that. Maybe I'm boring but I don't like having to go back to the drawing board all the time. I really love everything else about POE though, so... "Semper Gumby" for now.
I'm going to give this a go and hope that there's enough playstyle diversity that I'll enjoy it. Most of the new fight mechanics sound like other games that I didn't enjoy. For example, dodge rolling, active block, and weapon swapping feels like Elder Scrolls Online -- a game that is loved by many, but I didn't like the arthritic, physically painful (personal problems) gameplay. I will probably wait a bit before getting in. Wait until the dust settles a bit. Well... If I can wait that long.
I had repetitive stress injuries in my hands from K&B gaming like crazy. I now use a controller to play on my PC and things are pain free. I’m 47 been gaming forever. I still use K&B while in town and chatting etc. but for spam play it’s controller all the way. Not the best but pain free.
I’ve had a good time devouring all the poe 2 gameplay I could find, planning out ideas for the cold monk I want to play. I am not the same person I was when I first started poe with a Cleave-Cast on Melee Kill-Detonate Dead dual wielding sword Duelist. (He only made it to lvl 45ish lol) I gots me a concept of a plan, at least for the first 2 acts, and a bunch of interactions I want to try out. Probably make a sorc second time around. I really want duelist to be added though. Two swords and a dream.
My personal plan is to avoid any information for a while to test if the Devs did their homework in regards to delivery of information and how easily it is to fix build mistakes.
I wonder if the new focus towards coop play means we can now consider synergies with other players builds, so a tank that focuses on stripping armor for the DPS to nuke as an example.
I started playing POE around ritual and I’ve still never figured out how to make my own build. I always use content creator builds. I plan on making all builds my own and not looking at any content creator builds for POE2. I felt behind in POE and I felt dumb but having everyone start at the same place makes me feel so much better.
