I have a lifetime subscription and gotta say I think it's worth it. The amount of stuff they're putting out is incredible. Personally, I've never stumbled on model quality issues. I remember someone complained about an anatomy model they put out a couple months ago, the lung was out of proportion or something. They promptly removed the model and uploaded it back the next day, with the issue fixed. For me that's what matters in this regard: if something is wrong or broken they will humbly apologize and fix it right away.
Jim, Thanks for showing this. If I was selling printed models this might make sense, but as a hobbyist, the lifetime pricing is not something I need. I wish them success, and maybe in the future they will have this deal back again.
@@woodwaker1 could definitely respect and understand that! They also have a monthly option that's much cheaper if you want to check it out for a month and see how it is!
Just saw a discussion downstairs saying that some of their models will have scale issues, and someone else said they will fix it soon after it happens. As a company that specializes in using models to advertise long lines, their subscription is really not expensive (and it's fine if there are problems as long as they're fixed instantly), and I'll consider a 4-month subscription to see what it's like. Thank you very much!🥰
I had the commercial license for 3 months then opted into the lifetime when they offered it. They have many great models and I love how they release drops that are themed. Plus most animal keychains they offer also include a version without the keychain hole, so then it's a toy. Recommended!
I checked. For a monthly membership with commercial license its 29ish USD. So the $499 is less than 2 years of that. I notice you need to scroll way down to get to any pricing. Never a good sign. I just don't see how to justify this or the monthly
I won a 1-year subscription on Joel’s holiday giveaway stream last year. I have since purchased the lifetime subscription. I have a small side hustle selling prints and they have a lot of cool models that make me money.
@@jerrymartin9323 That's great to hear! I'm glad that you can use the site to make money, and like I said in my video I totally could see that happening and making quite a bit of money!
Sorry $500 for most of their stuff is a bit out of reach for most... let alone many of the models do have serious flaws... look into it before you buy.
Artist have to pay bills like everyone. I have seen some life memberships go south fast. I'll have to go check them out. Thanks 👍, to everyones comments, always good points made. How would glow filaments work, say for the eyes? I have 4 different colors, guess I'll have to get off my lazy butt, and print some glows.😂😂😂
I subscribed to their service around 4 months ago and kept it for about 2 months. I didn’t experience issues with model quality, except for one file. I also heard that they've now hired a dedicated team to check file quality, as they were aware of previous issues. I ended up canceling because of the overwhelming number of emails-I was getting 5-10 emails daily even after requesting fewer. They finally adjusted it a few weeks later, but by then, I had already left. I also felt the content was getting a bit repetitive at that time. Ironically, just after I canceled, I started seeing some interesting models (I still get emails about drops), and now I'm considering subscribing again.
@@deeply999 @otterdangerden thank you guys for the warning. Definitely have been skeptical of STLFlix for awhile now and seems like that will continue. It would be helpful if they allowed us to browse the whole catalog instead of hiding it behind a paywall. Outside of the paid promotion videos there isn't much out there on STLFlix and thats concerning.
My issue with them is most of the models I've seen are what I'll call cheap knockoff of well known designers designs. Besides that they are trying to hard to get subscribers
@@highraven1999I can understand what you mean, but everybody makes a lot of the same models, for example dragons or swords or any animals etc. Just like all of us who make videos primarily make videos on the same 3D printers, the difference is the person presenting that video or in this case the person modeling that model. They added a Quality Control team that is dedicated 100% to ensure the models are not jacked - as that has happened previously.

I know I'm probably older than most people here but this reminds me of the Mary K cosmetics thing, just with 3D printing.

$500 membership is way too much. Plus you can tell this is a completely spocered video. Not cool bro.
TH-cam creators should to disclose when their reviews are actually paid promotions.
A hard sell with a lot the key advertising words so poorly thrown in that they stand out like a sore thumb, no shame.
I love the idea and the models look good but this is way beyond my budget right now.
If the academy thing wasn't tacked on and just the STLs I probably would.

So many busted models tho, a good majority of their files need test printed to check for flaws or to check for fitment.
