    I can't believe that a Carl Segan lecture is not blown up youtube, any opportunity to learn from him is worth igniting young minds .

    The day Carl passed I was in 1st grade. And the internet was not around. But I know from my research of Carl Sagan that energy just evolves. Neil Degrasse Tyson says light is pristine. He is an entrepreneur of fine particles from another world.

    I love Carl. More than just about anybody. I wouldn't think he had anything to do with the Mars High parade video personally. But, that up-the-skirt shot of the guard girl - WTF!!! He even laughs at it. Like "Really? You just had to throw that in at the end?" At least she was moving too fast for Viking to catch it!

      Yeah it's gross, but I guess it's one of those things that we can look back at and think, hey, look at the improvement we've made since then.

      I hadn't noticed that. But when I looked at it again, Carl's giggle/chuckle seems to be one of embarrassment, if anything.

    That they achieved so much with such primitive technology -- my phone has a million times more computing and imaging power! But Carl Sagan will never go out of date.

    VHS with tracking noise - those where the days - Makes you appreciate HD
    Also I think VHS was only 300 something lines - S-VHS was 625

      What is tracking noise?

    • @TheAlpineProject
      @TheAlpineProject 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FirstLast-fr4hb He could be referring to tape hiss or actual control track damage, which causes occasional "glitchy" jumps in audio and video.

      @@TheAlpineProject I just remmebered using a tracking knob, I kind of miss it

      @seanjoseph8637 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FirstLast-fr4hb Aye, still have a VCR, but it's auto tracking.
      Tracking noise is the interference you get at the bottom of the picture, I think it's caused by the reading head not aligning properly with the tape.

    Uncle Tom's Cabin they have a scene where the slaves are dipping in Lysol. I use Lysol for to clean my hair. A typical African has hair 4- 6 inches length. Cosmetology.

    • @bobbart4198
      @bobbart4198 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe an general estimate, since the distance from Earth to Mars varies quite a bit, depending on the time of year the launch takes place ...

    Excellent, as was usual for the late-great Carl Sagan. I suggest this was recorded on an early Phillips system. Poor quality, but we must not forget this was the 197s when analogue TV at 625 lines was the norm and, a compromise transmission system.

    • @FirstLast-fr4hb
      @FirstLast-fr4hb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed recording tools were quite primitive in 197, chisels were the best we could offer.
