To misquote Michael 'this blew my bloody doors off!' ...I teared up when he recounted his mum's passing, and listened to the whole reading in 1 sitting, captivated.

Thank you for never giving up. Your struggles as a 23 year old mirror some of my own. I feel as though I’ve hit my lowest point, but you managed to turn it all around. You carved your own path ❤

I was deeply moved. Haven’t read either biography or autobiography of a modern character in a long long time that captures life and it’s mysterious meaning close to this. My background seemed similar, perhaps that’s it, or that mysterious calling from within that’s in his mind and won’t relent and inspires from nothingness to gratitude and contentment. To the young and old I yell from my heart - NEVER EVER GIVE UP.
Sending love to Michael Caine. I didn’t know you when you were so successfully productive as I was on my own journey, but I know and understand you now - inspiration is never too late. Thank you.

And now we face a time when once again, taxes are rising and rising...
Loved listening to this and really like the way he talks about how the social systems and political decisions of the UK over the decades had such a huge impact on his experience of life and that of his parents and siblings, his own, family and also the decisions that he made.

Thank you for uploading this wonderful story. Michael Caine remains the most genuine and tender hearted actor, humane being that ever was. His sense of unabashed humility often brings me to tears in his interviews and much more so right now. His gratitude for his successes has never wavered. The Man Who Would Be King remains my all time favorite movie.

I'm listening to this, and live a few hundred yards from where Michael Caine lived in Lowestoft. My Mum and Dad were married in the same registry office - now lo longer, bulldozed to make way for housing - as Michael and Pat.
Over the years I've heard many a tale and personal story from Lowestoftians (or 'puds', as we know ourselves) of their connection to Michael Caine, during his stay here. Much the same way that if you go for a drink in the East end of London, Stepney Green and the likes, you will inevitably meet and chat with some old Cockney codger who knew the Kray Twins.
Thoroughly enjoying this 'listen', so thank you to the kind soul who went to the effort to convert this from an audiotape. Nice one, cheers.

People now mostly have no idea in what poverty people almost always have lived and what hardships and shortages, cold and discomforts they had to endure.. Now, after the levels of comfort and supplies exponentially increasing for the first time ever in non-mediterranean regions, after only decades, in great numbers people already have become brainless and are merely degenerated.

It's too bad when the Queen of England came to visit Los Angeles they had to have the formal dinner on a soundstage in LA ; the event could have been held in a grand home like San Simeon . I love the joke he told and it was really cool the way he said the queen asked him to tell jokes and they spent the night going back and forth telling jokes to each other .
It's a shame that taxes were so high in England for the rich . I was appalled at how little some of the top earners were actually worth worth .
I like the way he explains about being homesick .
Very sad about his half-brother who he never knew about and strange that his mother never ever confided in him and his other brother about it . Very tragic for his brother to have suffered like that . And yes truly bizarre the name of the Institute . I like the way the ending of his book is so genuine and heartfelt
