  • Got two in a trade, was told one ran and it had its coil robbed. Another had body parts it needed but had a scored piston. Third one had the coil and carb I needed. So out if three saws, got one going. No bar oil in it so it's not burning that, just alot of fuel.

    Found one in the trash, got it to run for a few seconds with starting fluid but now it won’t run at all. Thinking its toast 🤷‍♂️

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never use starting fluid om a 2 stroke. Now that I said that, could be a number of reasons why it won't run. Check spark, compression and toss some 2 stroke mix down the carb

    • @frankiemarchese2978
      @frankiemarchese2978 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oops!! Okay, has good compression, has spark, just gotta get fuel in the damn thing now. The right fuel! 😂 thanks

      Hopefully i didnt blow the thing. Does it take the engine to run for a bit to get the gas into the carb?

    Another great video from the house of Bryan seeing that wire left off the kill switch probably gives me an answer to an echo I was working on a while back. Ok lets see you do a chain brake repair on one of these where you actually change out the broken wrap around brake spring. I have yet to find the info on wether the holding pin is screwed or pressed in, and thanks for the invite to Hopper

    I just picked up a 610 a few weeks ago for $40. It runs, but is hard to start. I guess it needs a little shot of fuel to get started. I haven't had time to mess with it yet.

    Pretty cool never ran a 610. My father in law was throwing one away . He said it would run but was tired of messing with it. I grabbed it. Took it home but the crackhead next door stole it befor I got to fool with it. Lol..

      About choked to death laughing at that last bit, caught me way off guard on that one. Sorry it got jacked. My timber bear was found in the trash by a buddy in Georgia and sat in his basement for 8 years them he sent to me for free and all I had to do was out new fuel and oil lines on and she is one of my best runners.

I found a mac pro 10-10, I think the piston is scored. But I got 2 from the pawn shop and hope to get them going. Lol..keep the vids coming.bro.

    Would love to get my hands on a Pro Mac 55 in good shape. Any possible sources, Bryan? Jimbo from Southeast Texas. We get hurricanes frequently, so get trees down. I'm a baby boomer, so, was around when MacCulluch was king. Thanks.

      I've traded off two pm55 saws but now have a pm555 (Canadian version) and will keep her as she's not an easy model to find. As for finding one, depends on wood size you are cutting and the type.

      Only issue I have oiling was the oil line on my timber bear rotted away but got that fixed. This one doesn't have any bat oil in it so she isnt burning that, just running alot of fuel. Have to adjust the carb still but a damn strong runner she is. Very pleased with this saw revival

    Thanks so much for posting this! I recently found two Pro Mac 610 saws in someone's trash at the end of their driveway (they were moving away), and brought them home. They were absolutely covered in grime and oil, but I managed to get them cleaned up. One appears to be working perfectly, and starts and runs like a dream, except for one real problem: the chain tensioner screw is missing. The other one doesn't appear to be running, and it has no bar or chain, so I think I will just use it for parts, including the chain tensioner I need for the first one. In order to get in and remove the chain tensioner screw, do I first need to remove the clutch assembly and then the plate underneath that? I tried removing the chain tensioner screw from the "parts" saw just by backing the screw out all the way, but it seems to have a hard limit at that point, and I didn't want to force it for fear of breaking it, so I assume there must be another way to access the tensioner assembly? Any advice you have from experience with this problem on the Pro Mac 610 would be hugely appreciated!!! I am really hoping to get this old saw fully working again!

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Last i knew the chain tensioner was part of the brake assembly on these but I may need to check again, been awhile, more or less a nut at the end of the screw from you backing it out to far. Dont forget to subscribe, lots more McCulloch action I've done and in the future.

    • @ianhamilton4816
      @ianhamilton4816 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mistermacgray Thanks! I was able to remove the clutch and replace the chain tensioner screw assembly today. One remaining issue - I got the saw running today to test it, and I notice the chain tensioner screw loosens off quickly with the saw's vibrations when it runs. Is there something I can put on the chain tensioner screw that will "stiffen" the threading so this doesn't happen but that will still allow for full chain tension adjustment when I need to?

    Hey there Bryan...this will be useful in my near future, I've a 610 coming, I believe it's got a pawl issue and maybe a top end issue also, apart from that it's complete , probably rough though....you seam to have no shortage of spares....I received a 266 but it's so rough I think it's beyond it from a price point...even with all hutzl parts looks like $200.00 and that's not Inc missing screws or carb kit...what u think?

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These saws have chrome bores so if they get messed up, not worth saving. Piston gets eattin up and the bore survives then just a pistons change away from making good again more or less.
      I'm not a husky guy yet, so unsure on the value of a 266. Jereme Bell is more to ask on that subject.

    • @mistermacgray

      @@nickywalsh8492 no aftermarket at all. The 600 series wasnt sold at dealers, it was sold at hardware stores and whatnot, kinda like the modern day Poland saws people get from Walmart.

      Chrome bore so if it got damaged, not worth fixing. If the chrome bore is fine, aluminum transfer can be cleaned off with muratic acid and a Q tip, then maybe but you will be after a piston and rings.
