- In this video I use scrap wood and offcuts to build some outdoor storage for our recycling and trash bins! 👇 Links to tools/materials below👇
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT
If you are interested in the tools and equipment I use in this video you can find all the information you need here: 👉 kit.co/mikepar... 👈
Remember you can do this too without most of the tools I use by getting dimensional timber from the local store! All you would need is some screws! Although I would definitely recommend investing in a Pocket Hole Jig like the one I use in this video. You can get one with the link below and it is well worth the money! 👍
I'm trying something very new with this video. No timelapse footage! 😱 The editing process requires a lot more time but I'm hoping the end result is a lot easier to follow, more entertaining and hopefully will help more people get inspiration from the techniques I use. What do you think? Let me know if you prefer this new style or the old bare-bones sped up approach 👍

ABOUT THE BUILD
I started with a scrap pile of mostly 2x6s and 2x4s, but there were some 1x6s and battens in there too. These were all left over from when I built the decking and workshop.
Everything was cleaned up and planed down to size using the thicknesser, before being rip sawn down to size and cut to length. I then joined together all the main parts with pocket holes (you can do this too without all the big tools by getting some dimensional lumber and a cheap pocket hole jig! 👍)
I cut down loads of slats (oh so many!) for the sides/back on the table saw from some 2x4s, and used glue and a brad nailer to attach them to the main body. I then trimmed the excess using a hand saw. It was my first time using this Japanese pull saw and it worked beautifully 😍 Did you spot the moment I bent my flush cut saw and it became instantly useless?! 🧐🤦♂️
The roof was some 1x6s glued together and scrapped/sanded down before using some of the leftover battens to frame it on 3 sides (without joining the edges to allow the wood to move over the year)
A bit of Liberon Decking Oil was used to finish it off and that was it! It came out really nicely in the end, and the warm pine colour looks really nice in the summer sun 😍

Thanks again, and keep on building ✌️

Great...all from scrap wood, now all i have to buy is the sander...electric saw...electric nail gun...Oh and some varnish so it looks good. It can even fit inside your home. lol
I really enjoyed the hideo and very easy to follow but now I hace tool envy
Thank you for the feedback! It is really appreciated ☺️ I have been doing this for a few years now and slowly building up the tools I use, but I also still get tool envy all the time. It never goes away! 😭

You're welcome. Take care.
Nice work, good video and excellent final product. Any chance you could share what finish you used? Keep up the good work.
Thanks! 😁 It is Liberon Decking Oil - there are links in the description 👍
Do you have the dimensions for the build on a drawing?
No I don't sorry. I built it directly around the recycling boxes, not to a specific size
OMG is this like woodworking porn! Listen to that music! Quite the mood, LOL!
