I own this cars older sibling! First time I drove it, it was like nothing I had ever driven before, it's so quiet and smooth. And it even has 277,000+ miles on it, and the mechanic said the motor will easily do 400,000 more, so these cars will truly go forever.
This is the first car i have ever loved. I would stare at it all the time and every time i looked, i saw something new. I still get goose bumps hearing all the features that are embedded in this car.
Its a 1996 car , and it has auto self closing doors , automatic and heated seats , auto trunk open.. I am amazed that a 1996 car can do that. Well done MB
I remember my dad having this when i was young. I loved it so much when he came from work. from what i remember it had a very heavy steering wheel but i was little so I don't know. but man it brings back so many memories. it was very comfortable too
After owning a 05 E500 right now, i have to say Mercedes makes the best cars in the world hands down. But i still love my old school Cadillac D'elegance it gets driven every day also.
I love how you care about all detail of your videos. For example, you said it has a huge sunroof, but you did not slide it fully (which I understand completely and read the comment you wrote to somebody as a reply) BUT you slided the sunshade fully to show the size of the sunroof. "Little" things like this makes your videos awesome! Sorry for the English. Keep up the good work!
Back when Mercedes let the engineers run the show. What a car! I have a very used 1992 300E and I love it, I just wish the previous owners had taken better care of it
No they are not reliable, not when compared to Toyota or Honda. These cars are very well built but maintenance and upkeep is frequent and more expensive, parts are also very expensive. They are known for bad or faulty biodegrable wiring harness that require replacement ,bad plastic timing chain guide rails that fail with age or heat, ac is expensive to repair if not working properly, the evaporator is in the dash and the dash must be removed to work on that or the heater core, the throttle bodies go bad, do your homework before you consider buying one, everything about owning them is very very expensive.
Legendary Grim Reaper 0000 . I have owned two different Mercedes. I owned two 420sels w126 chassis. I really liked and considered owning the w140 chassis s420 or s500 but after researching the cost of ownership, parts, labor, and some of the problems that these models inherently have I decided against it. The wiring harness goes bad, the timing chain guides are plastic and break. The air conditioning evaporator is in the dash and often leaks and you have to remove the dash to get to it. These cars are very well built and generally good quality but they do suffer from some poorly designed features; moreover, these cars are older now and items will fail due to age and or mileage. I would not recommend these cars to someone on a strict budget or isn’t prepared to shell out some serious cash in order to keep them running.
This car is from before Mercedes started falling off. Plus there were (and still is) several different engine options for this car, like from straight-6 all the way to V12.
The design for this 1996 facelift model is actually from late 1992, while the original 1992-1994 model is from 1987. Daimler-Benz has penchant designing their cars too many years early. Glad mine is a 35-36 year old design which has only seen few updates over the years.
Such a great piece of engineering, still more advanced than modern middle class. Only they depreciate like there is no tomorrow. You can get this one probably for less than 10k.
older Mercedes are absolutely phenomenal cars, could you have gotten a video of that silver R129 SL at 4:51 ? also, i know the R129 had this, but im not sure on the W140, but it kind of looks like it, a power rearview mirror, put the mirror control in the middle setting, then adjust the rearview as needed, cool feature.
Thanks for the video, such a nice car, great attention to detail, superb build quality. Why did you use the key to open it, did you forget it has infrared remote locking?
@fastestlapsDOTcom Actually, the BMW E32 7 series also had double glazed windows (if ordered), starting in 1987, so before the W140. Or were you referring to that they were the first Mercs with DG windows?
@Vortec43CPI Did you have the A/C evaporator problem with it? That was a notorious problem with these W140s. My Uncle had a 92 400SE with that problem and since it cost $3500 to fix he just sold the car because it was only valued at around $5000. Florida is deadly hot in the summer.
@MrCounterstrikeforce as long as wiring isnt at fault . ive got an 02 s500. so far so good. bought off of ebay. bought with 32k on it. is up at 85 right now. kyle, when youre in tehse upper end german cars, see if any of them has teh parking assist lights, ( i.e. you turn headlight switch to left i believe, and drivers headlight/brakelight ONLY comes on, )
Not bad coming from a Lexus fan and owner. The interior aesthetic is better than that of my LS400, However i hate the old-fashioned gauge display. The LS400 has a beautiful back-lit neon display instead.
Anyone else notice? The wipers go in the opposite direction to normal for a LH drive car? I always thought it made more sense for them to be this way, sweep the water AWAY from the driver, rather than into their vision lol.
That car had a phone next to the cup holders and on the middle of the dash on top of the radio it had the numbers. This car dint had the phone i know because my father has this car same year but the car was gray
did you write "dint had" as a joke or are you very young? I am going to assume the latter - the car came with options for example mine was bought new in the south where there is no need for headlight wipers. The phone was probably an option,
In Australia it was $183,500 but U.S. I'm guessing around $90,000, definitely a large amount of money but worth every penny both back then and today. I'm looking at getting a black S320, can't wait :)
My favorite S-class! This car's only failing was with the cup holder design, but everything else was simply flawless!

Yet a 2023 Toyota Camry don’t have these features. Well it have heated seat but that’s about it
That buzzer makes me smile every time :)

Master piece until,now. Greatness.
The w140 and the w126s in my humble Opinion are the best benzes ever made
Yea they are beautiful
My parents have a 1996 S420. Best sedan we own. The thing is almost durable like a tank, yet it picks up speed effortlessly and is quite luxurious.
That horn was waaaaay better than I expected
This is real mercedes
demonized YEAH! Bro...It's nice car.
This is real mercedes
No dip Sherlock
Even new Mercedes is Mercedes
Wow what a nice Mercedes-Benz. Great quality, nice condition. Thanks, Kyle.
this is exceptionally well maintain.
Great video as always Kyle! What a beautiful old Mercedes! One day I'll try to video my brother in law's rare 1969 Mercedes Benz 220 Diesel.
older Mercedes are absolutely phenomenal cars
This is the first car I fell in love with at the age of 12.
I like these sedans more!! Brilliant job bro.
best benz ever!! my grandfather used to own one but it was a 1997 s420

One of my favorites of it's generation😍
Wow, the interior, beautiful paint ... yet I always really get rocked off my feet when I see what's under the hood. That engine is something else!

@carloveridc Yes it has keyless entry and it doesn't appear to have heated seats, unless I missed it.
I agree, I got 1994 s320, immaculate, I'll drive another 20 years
Zaza Jgenti Is it reliable ? have u got problems with it ?

ozelot250 in germany w140 have no problem .....in america all mercedes are crapp...
Septimiu Razvan Bot why do you think that Mercedes have less problems in Germany?
Legendary Grim Reaper 0000 . I have owned two different Mercedes. I owned two 420sels w126 chassis. I have a 1996 S500. I wish it was in this good of shape.
That's one Sweet S-Class
This car is from before Mercedes started falling off. Plus there were (and still is) several different engine options for this car, like from straight-6 all the way to V12.
Just like in "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" movie. :D
Loco18 no he had the s class this is the smaller copy
Just because this has a smaller engine doesn't mean it is a smaller copy dude.

@Swrtzjstn12 Engine size. S350 has a 3.5 Liter V6 whiles the S500 has a 5.5 liter V8 (Known as the S550 in the states). S600 has a 6.0 liter V12.
Nice. The S-Class is my 4th favorite Mercedes ever made. The three I like more are the G-Wagon, GT-S AMG and SLS AMG.
the 1991-1999 Mercedes S Class was assembled in
Stuttgart, Germany

@crazyteamcrew Oops, Sorry. :)That is a little storage compartment for little things like cellphones.
Could you please add Tire size comment in your videos? For instance 255/65 R16
This S320 known as SsangYong Chairman in Korea.

Wow so quiet !!!
what's the original price for this one, back in the day?
In Australia it was $183,500 but U.S. I'm guessing around $90,000, definitely a large amount of money but worth every penny both back then and today. I'm looking at getting a black S320, can't wait :)
+tiburciolapanak I have a '96 S500 that was $98,000 when it was new
+Pattttt0406 Yes, and now you can get them for under $7500. There's one locally that needs some work for a grand.
does it have a freezer??????
Used to have one of these, great car but guzzled fuel!
Why didn't you do that w116 in the background?
he did a long time ago
Do you have a link for that?
+Smith John you mean that little blue Mercedes right?
+Smith John your welcome
The little blue one next to this 140 is a 107. I mean the one in the back at about 8:48.
The interiors are nice but to me a lot of the Mercedes in that era look alike.
Thx kyle
what a car..
Thumbs up if you still saw Mafia driving this!
1:00
wish i never sold mine!!
@beavisPDBSK for sure bro...
it's very austere though, especially with the white on gray.
My dreams car.
