My son who passed away in 2012 absolutely worshiped Roy. He had gotten to the point that he did a decent impersonation. I'm sure he is hounding Roy up there in Heaven to sing just one more song. RIP Jeffery Lee.
Sorry for your loss, What a great video, gives me the chills, Love/Love R Orbison, amazing man/singer, him, Johny Cash, Elvis Presley, are true MUSIC LEGENDS, I will continue to listen to this music until I take my last breath!
Roy Orbison is one of a kind. He wasn't a performer in concerts like Elvis. Never knew of those tragic things that happened to his family. He remains unsurpassed as a singer.
The Orbisons were _not_ in a car accident as claimed here. Roy and Claudette were actually riding their motorcycles home when Claudette was killed instantly when she collided with a truck that pulled out in front of her.
I adored his singing. He was the best. Thanks for this video. It explains a lot about the glasses and the torture he endured losing so much of what he loved.
@@FactsVerse I can't say I favor any one song as my favorite so I'll give you my four or five top favorites in no particular order. Oh Pretty Woman, Only the Lonely, Candy Man, Dream Baby and Blue Bayou.
He left his glasses on the plane when he arrived in Dothan, Alabama and played that night for the first time in his sunglasses out of necessity. That night he met Bobby Goldsboro and John Rainey Atkins who were in his hired backup band and they went on to tour with Roy. I have an original promo poster from that concert hanging in our guitar shop in Dothan. A young Buddy Buie was also there that night.
Correction: You made an error on Roy Orbison's first wife, Claudette Frady Orbison. She did not die in a car accident, she died in a motorcycle accident. The information below is quoted from the article. On "JUNE 6, 1966 - Roy Orbison's first wife, Claudette Frady Orbison (b. Sep. 5, 1941) was killed when a truck pulled out of a side road and collided with the motorbikes that she and Roy were riding on in Gallatin, Tennessee. She died in his arms an hour later, at just 24 years old." She was a mother of two boys. Roy Orbison was a tremendous singer, songwriter, and musician. He had a unique sound that basically transcended decades And resonated with millions. RIP Roy Kelton Orbison, April 23, 1936 - December 6, 1988, age 52.
I thought the comment about Roy Orbison where he wore his trademark sunglasses how it started! I totally enjoyed that moment of how he stuck to his sunglasses up until his passing. Roy Orbison rules this planet!!!😊
@lindaschultz7900 he was a chain smoker. Watch some of his early interviews or the final recording session videos. Cigarettes and Coca-Cola were always by his side. Even when the host mentioned the series Autopsy the last 24 hours of Roy Orbison it was mentioned how heavy of a smoker he was.
Always wondered why Roy Orbison started wearing sun glasses. Him forgetting his regular glasses made his decision to wear sunglasses the only choice he had (at that time), so he changed his image by doing it... Very interesting information, Facts Verse. 🤔

I love watching Autopsy and did see that Orbison episode which stated that he loved chocalate and hardly moved around on stage during his performances.
I thought Roy wore the sun glasses because of some eye problem and the bright lights were affecting his sight or hurting him. I'm glad he wasn't blind nor greatly impaired. He had his own style that is for sure even though he dyed his hair always black like Elvis did.
One mistake here is in regard to the death of Roy's wife Claudette. It was not a car accident. They were riding motorcycles. Claudette was riding marginally ahead of Roy when a car hit her. She as we all know did not survive. Roy was not involved in the accident.

Yes. I was surprised as to how it started, but not totally surprised by some of Roy's eventual reasons. I thought his eyes did look rather peculiar, as did he, so I thought that was the reason he wore them.
