@reelKingsnQueen he just mentioned the top 10 of all time being the Karashi. There could be a lure that works better or worse than different areas or situations, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying even if I’m not in the same state.
My first bfs rod was the Dobyns Sierra ultra finesse 701c and I absolutely love it! Also the day I fell in love with bfs I was fishing a 3 inch spark shad on a quarter ounce keitech ballhead catching 3 to 4lb spotted and smallmouth bass out of 20 to 25 foot of water all on 4 pound line and I have done it so many times since then! Okishira screw head is awesome too it gives any bait a little wobble like a spy bait
Hey Matt! Just wanted to give ya quick shoutout man, your videos and content is awesome. So informative and helpful and you really ‘dumb’ it down for me. You always have a great attitude as well man. Thank you for what you do, I really appreciate it 🤙
I ordered that Karachi after watching this video. Super fast Shipping!!! And within 5 minutes of trying it, a bird swooped down and grabbed ! I’m convinced now! Thank you
I love BFS fishing!! I love these videos and I really appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge on this topic!! I can see that you’re fanatical about it, just as I am, but more for inshore saltwater fishing. Thank you!
7:02 "I've followed good anglers down a shoreline....I'm watching them catch nothing...." Matt, are you throwing some stealth shade at Tim???😳🤯 Don't do your boy like that!!!😬 JUST KIDDING MATT!!!!🤣 I hope this makes Tim and you laugh!!!😂
I fish from the shore and I caught 20 fish 2 days ago and 15 yesterday in 2 hours after work. The Kerashi slays. I mean they could not resist it. I could see the wakes just coming in like they were just full speed. Thanks TB!!
I rarely bother with BFS but it’s definitely a fun setup to dabble with every so often which is why I went as budget as budget can get with my setup for my style of fishing. Kastking Zephyr/6’ lite Bass Pro Crappie Maxx.
Matt Great Video! I just ordered some Karashi lures LOL! I have an "Old 18" 7' ultralight Suppressor Series BFS rod. It's paired with a Curado BFS reel(upgraded ceramic bearings). For simplicity , I use 8 pound Varivas Twitchmaster low stretch mono, so I can fish sinking hardbaits or floating topwater baits all on the same rod. So much fun!
I can't wait for the day in 2, 3, 5 years where we have a best $100 bfs combos all the way to high end bfs combos, or maybe they'll sneak them into the regular combo videos
F1-63X Ultra Light (PopX Stick) vs. F3-610X Med Light (BFS). I have a F3-610X with a Curado BFS reel. Love this combo. It never goes in the rod locker and bring it home every trip to use on ponds when lake weather doesn't cooperate. The Griffon has been my fav of all so far, but just bought some Reins ring craws which may change my mind. ha. Anyway, just throwing it out there. If you're a serious P5 guy, look at the BFS model too.
I fish the P5 Pop-X stick as well as the P5 Cliff Hanger Thrilling. Pop-X stick is only used with hardbaits from 1/8th oz to 3/8th oz. Small lipless, square bill, shallow to medium runner cranks, jerkbait, popper…you name it (the Karashi obviously too). Th Cliff Hanger is strictly used for bottom contact techniques (free rig, DropShot, cheburashka, Texas rig and so on). The Pop-X stick is for my liking a bit too soft with its slow/moderate action. The Cliff Hanger has a moderate fast action and is significantly more sensitive. Both are great finesse rods. A F3 powered Megabass rod to me is not really BFS, but that’s my personal opinion and no formal standard :)
@@arnemueller2112 Thanks for the comments. The Cliffhanger sounds like a great choice. The F3 BFS sounds heavy but the rod is literally named BFS by Megabass. It's working great with stuff like the Karashi, Griffons, baby whopper plopper, etc. and casts a mile.
@@caseysaunders2137 yeah, I know. It‘s the successor of the Hien from their older Destroyer lines. If you are in search of something really finesse for bottom contact try the Cliff Hanger….an absolut amazing rod! If you need something for really light hardbaits go with the Pop-X stick. Honestly, you can‘t go wrong with any rod out of the P5 lineup as long as you fish the techniques it‘s built for 👍
Hey did u try the new Ark Gravity bfs real. It's affordable and a great real , I love there new gravity braking system.. I Hope you can make video about it with your other BFS stuff but I believe it's only $150 which is pretty good in my opinion so I hope you guys tried it or can try it and get back to me or make a video Love you guys learn a lot from you and Tim and love tactical bassin.
I would love to see some videos on how you select combos for jet boat days. What do you go to in terms of rods / line / lures / etc. to give you a wide range of techniques that can work in a day. I'm a jon boat guy and try to limit myself to 5 rods. I also only get once a week or so and I am junk fishing a lot since I can't stay on the fish. I can show up to the ramp and have 4' visibility and slick calm or 6" and and 15mph winds. I need to be ready for anything to have any chance of success but can't have 20 rods on deck.
I used to love throwing teeny 1” Berkley craws with 1/64 oz jig heads or 3” straight tail worms on #4 owner rig N hooks with the same weight bullet weights. It really looks funny to see such small baits in the mouth of a 4 lber.
I jumped on the BFS bandwagon nearly 13yrs ago as a crossover for saltwater fishing and its been absolutely crazy how them tiny lures nail huge Snook,Redfish,Flounder,Mangrove Snapper and Speckled Trout. Its by far become favorite style of fishing in saltwater.
My favorite finnes set up is a 7' Light fast action Expride B spinning rod with a 2500 vanford with 7lb FC sniper camo color floro. My favorite baits is a 1/16oz ewg hook-swing ned head. paired with 2.5" zman trd tubes in mudbug color. It's super small& natural. You just let it set it has its own action. That catch's everything & bass eat it up. I prefer to fish big swimbaits, big worms, frogs. But when I'm getting my ass kicked & bite is really tough. I'll pull that out & almost always catch them!
What are your thoughts on the Daiwa Tatula BF 70? I’ve seen a lot of good reviews and people liking it more than the shimano bfs? Have you tried it or have an opinion on it?
I picked up some Karashis a long time ago and posted on a Megabass FB group about it, only like 1 guy said it was any good. The rest said it was a bad lure 😂
Be careful with the little Shimano McBeth 39F squarebills. Extreme, excessive heat will cause the lures body to expand and split. The results is a lure that won’t track again. I lost several last summer in my boats storage compartment. Now, I only carry a few per trip, and make sure to remove them from the boat at the end of the day. Excellent squarebill.
Great video Matt as I really want to get into BFS but just not affordable hear yet in Ontario, Canada. I am using your info for my light spinning gear set ups. With that for the Rhythm Wag and the 1/0 hook do you use any weight to throw it like a nail weight or are you just texas rigging weightless. Thank you as always and love your passion as it really rubs off on me and I am sure everyone else! HAHA
Could you guys do a bank fishing series? For us anglers that don’t have the means of a vessel (yet). For me, its a limiting factor and I can only do so much. Thanks
Thank you for another great video! I recently paired up the 6’8” medium light from Cashion with the curado BFS and have been slaying them! Now I’m torn between the 7” light or the new tackle warehouse exclusive 6’8” ultralight from Cashion for all my BFS hard bait applications. Which would you recommend?
My windbuster exist combo is the deal. The quarter oz stuff is a little challenging but anything up to 5/8 oz I can throw with precision. For me I like it better than BFS gear but to each is their own.
The Windbuster is an incredible rod. I love throwing jerbaits so much on it I'm considering buying one and paying to have it stripped down to the blank and remade as a baitcaster just for 110s. The sensitivity on that rod has ruined me for anything else.
Great video...In the first BFS gear review you and Tim recommended the IMX Pro 864 CBR DF rod. I have never seen y'all use that rod and don't know what cranks you would be using it for. It's rated 3/8 to 1 ounce... Is it a good squarebill rod or mid or deep diver?
I haven't dove into the bfs yet. I'm sure I would like it. I've got pretty decent medium, light & ultralight spinning rods already I've upgraded last year n half. If you could only buy one reel & rod for bma bfs set up what would you buy?
Also, a question on rods. Looking to the JDM's the general direction is ultralight rods. Very whippy. Amd they load and flick that thing out there. I find this to be very different from a traditional long cast. Does going to medium light work to bridge that gap? As in you're casting light lures in a more traditional bait casting technique .
I’m looking to get a “do all” bfs combo. I’m pretty set on the curado bfs with an expride. Just curious as to what power/action expride would you recommend that could do all bfs techniques well. Thanks
Hey Matt...I've know you've committed the Cashion ICOn 7'L to Karashi fishing but I'm teetering between the 6'10" ML and 7L. How well does the 6/10 do with the Karishi?
Hey Matt: Just curious as to what is it about the bfs style rods and reels that has made them so expensive up until recently with some quote unquote affordable options? Is it simply most of them come from higher end Japanese brands? Also have you now abandoned spinning gear altogether or does it still have it’s place? Thanks…🎣🤔😎🐝
Hey Matt, I remember a video last year where you said you didn't think there was a real good rod on the market yet for bfs hard jerkbaits. I'm thinking an x nanahan, bfs x70 or x-80, or even a small whipper snapper. I picked up the 7'0 Cashion but haven't fished it yet, would you say that rod would work or have you come across any other light rods with a good tip for micro jerkbaits?
So, can Tactical or someone else answer me this: What other EWG hook could I use for BFS besides the BKK one? They're constantly sold out, and when I get an email they're in stock they're gone already. Thanks!
Alright you guys have convinced me, I’m finally going to dip my toes into BFS. I’m most likely going to grab the Cashion Icon 6’10 ML. I really want to get a more budget reel to pair with it. I just don’t have Alderbaren money right now. What reel would you recommend? Curado BFS?
Definitely the Ark Gravity Bfs. It's cheaper and better than the curado. 200+ isn't "affordable". As they get more popular they lose touch with what is affordable and what isn't.
I was wondering if you guys have tried the SLX bfs reel? I was thinking of picking it up on the JDM market but I wasn’t sure if it was worth my time. It seems like a cheap option and I know the slx reels are great reels for the most part.
Seem like everyone else who watched is on the TW trying to order up some bfs bait cause it just crashed on me 😅 trying to get me one of this tiny cranks
Once again I clicked a link for one of the baits in your video ( Megabass Karashi Twitch Bait) and of course Tackle Warehouse is on backorder until June.
I'm honestly a little disappointed with Megabass about the Karashi. For a company with their level of attention to detail, it seems odd they would take the lazy route by putting the same blue flash tail on every color.
They were up making babies yesterday and wouldn't bite anything. I have a love hate for the spawn. They were piled on the banks. No matter the presentation, they wouldn't do anything but run a circle. Be glad when it's over
@@Mandoslicer they're in limbo where I am. Was finessing them. Gotta find the fish that are done or are yet to spawn. I like that you know more about the fish in my county than I do. You were fishing a dam. Always fish stacked up at dams.
