  • The Federal Government says it is aware of false alarms being raised in some quarters alleging discussions between the Federal Government of Nigeria and some foreign countries on the siting of foreign military bases in the country.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris in a statement on Monday asked the general public to disregard the story.
He said government is not in any such discussion with any foreign country or considering any proposals for the establishment of any foreign military bases in Nigeria.
Mr Idris adds that Nigerian government already enjoys foreign cooperation in addressing ongoing security challenges, and the President remains committed to deepening these partnerships, with the goal of achieving the national security objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

@@okirichard4204 Russia and China didn't participate in colonizing Africa countries, not like America and Europe, who colonised us, and didn't do, nothing for Africa, that is why the Sahel nations booted them out, and accepted Russia and China bc, of the changes they experience in the deals they had with Russia and China, America and Europe are only, interested in our raw materials and what they can gain from us, living us in poverty and under-developed.

No smoke without fire. Governments all over the world sometimes leak sensitive information in order to measure the acceptability of proposals by the citizens.
If it is observed that the public perception of such matter is largely negative, they usually come out and issue statements by labelling such leaks as rumours and fake news.
So, this is not new. That's how the game is played.
