Looking forward to the series! I'm from the UK but found myself in Phoenix last year, and drove a lap of the circuit in my hire car. Definitely one of those things that I never thought I'd do.
How I imagine period of 1986-1989 for Friedrich Bang? 1986 - Another shot with British F3 1987 - Formula 3000 1988 - Searching for luck across the ocean in CART American Racing Series (known present day as Indy Lights) 1989 - Part-time CART drive
What's worse is that in real life, a brush with the wall is always a fatal thing. So as if pre-qualification isn't a tense enough thing to contend with, trying to achieve it whilst bringing the car back in one piece is on a whole new level. I've always found the backmarker teams fascinating, and the Subaru-powered Coloni is no exception. Nice work you've done here, I look forward to more :)
Great! I liked the idea to struggle in the pre-qualify with the worst engine. Thanks to use this version of Phoenix. I have a 1990 version too but I never finished the details.
Fantastic stuff! For a laugh I always drove as Coloni in F1GP, though that was with the default grip levels. This is a great illustration of just how hard everyone pre-qualifying had it, the tiny clips of Eurosport's brief reports of it obviously can't do the heroic struggles of the AGS, Coloni and Life drivers justice. This is probably as close as we'll get to knowing what it was like in pre-qualifying!
Yeah, the pre-qualifying era becomes more and more interesting the more you investigate. So many absurd but beautiful little teams with no hope whatsoever.
Haha as soon as you mentioned it being an F1 project backed by a manufacturer I just knew which team it'd be. This is going to be great fun 🙂 - 1990 was the second full F1 season that I watched.
@@TedMeat it was a fascinating time - some properly experimental and borderline dangerous cars being run by a handful of enthusiasts. I love the Bang lore, especially the 1985 F3 series! Hope we find some lost video footage of that some day, as well as seeing how he fared in 1990 of course 🤞👍
Another fantastic upload! Loving the pre-qualifying and the series this will be part of, keep it up! Been a subscriber to this channel for a few years now and always good to see you uploading or going live-streaming, just wish i could actually watch them live 🤣 I started watching F1 from late 94 onwards (I was 7...) so F1 in the 90's is my favorite subject for any pub-quiz! Later in the year when they switched back to Cosworth it became the 'C3C'. I think that happened for either the British or German GP....? So it could be a VERY painful first half of the season! Also...I Didn't recognise ''Monteverdi'', untill i researched that the team was more commonly know as Onyx, then it all made sence! 🤣 Loving that detail!! Although.... They didn't drop into pre-qualifying till later in the season.... Thank you very much :) The Coloni development program is currently under development, thanks to the sponsors. It might make the car better.... or worse :D

Hello Ted! This series Looks Awesome! Would you mind tell me the app/webiste using for obtain the engine/aero values that then you will put in GpEdit? Thank you =)
Hi! Basically I adjusted the grip levels via trial and error to somewhat match the real pace of Coloni in 1990 (although this car is actually a bit faster). Also I set the engine power to 500 as that was the hp the Subaru engine had at the beginning of 1990. Other than that I used a 1990 carset that you can find here: grandprix2.de/Carsets/csF1/csf11990.htm I don't remember which one of the 1990 carsets it was but if you find the one with the "pre-qualifying" cars on a separate file then that's the one.
@@Vinsax96 Oh, sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you meant the base values for performance at the beginning of the season 😅I of course update the values before every race. Hello Ted. I'm even more enthusiastic now that I watched your first career GP! The Coloni-Subaru is the perfect choice, I wouldn't have asked for better! And yes, the power is terrible, top speed amazingly low and the handling seems awful too!😅 I really hope that next year you can make way for young talent Pedro Chaves, currently at British F3000. Don't worry, since we got some new sponsors there's a development program coming that might make the car better. However because this channel is not that straight forward, the development program might also make the car worse. I hope this somehow makes you feel better about the scam.
