also under settings,SYNC can b turned off,especially when changing phones,so make sure that's clicked ON..mail will begin to start coming again..

Signing in again , seemed to fix the trick for me. Just click on the top right, accounts, and add new account, just add the same exact info again, and it should update .

* Click on your profile picture or initial in the top right corner of your Gmail screen.
* Select Manage your Google Account.
* Navigate to People & sharing.
* In the "Contacts" section, click on Blocked.
*Unblock that particular Mail.
