when you think about it, everything in this scene gets a proper resolution. watching this scene then watching gonna go cry a bit is amazing, also i LOVE "speak of the devil" when referring to demon before we know him as demon. fuck dude this is one of the best shows of all time
Also, Sakuma's sarcastic "I didn't see you there!" foreshadows his poor eyesight.

"speak of the devil" is just what the subtitle says-- it isn't a direct translation of the line so that wasn't intentional. u right though, this is one of the best shows of all time

This feels so organic and real, Not some made up fake ass scene. It's well-directed and the length of the scene is also perfect
I love that Sakuma still greets the old lady, but he's still wearing that angry energy.
It's cool how Sakuma acts all tough shit but when he starts speaking to any adult he acts respectful

It's like he recognizes the obvious fact that they're still just teenagers. It's a reality check that doesn't happen much in anime.

海王高監督の｢お前にもいつか、あの子の辛さがわかる｣って言うのは、才能はないが努力している佐久間と風間を照らし合わせたセリフなんだなって。

俺は寧ろ逆なんじゃないかと思ってる。
アクマは｢先鋒を任されてる｣わけだから、少なくとも1年生の中ではトップクラスの期待株で、時期エース候補の可能性があるってこと。
そう考えると、期待しているが故に、アクマ将来的に常勝海王の看板を背負って立つことに対して心配をしてるからこそ出たセリフなんじゃないかと思えてくる。

個人的には1番心に刺さるシーンの1つです。
@@wata9884 ドラゴンとアクマの才能は(一般人目線では)天地の差ですが、孤独な努力家であるという点において彼らは非常に似通っています。
スマイルとの練習試合で負け、プライドも熱意も壊されたアクマに対して(傍から見れば)非常に冷酷なスタンスを取っていたドラゴンですが、内心ではアクマに｢未来の自分｣を見て恐怖し、その事を考えないようにしていたのかもしれません。
実際、ペコに負けて以降のドラゴンには以前の闘争心は見えなくなりましたが(少なくとも作中の描写においては)、比較的幸せな転落だったように見えます。
もっとも本人の心境は複雑なようですが笑

The animation directly supports how well the writing of this show is delivered, the "sloppy" and almost rotoscopic style allows you to perceive nuances in the characterization and expressiveness of the characters, several scenes, otherwise most of them simply would not work in a traditional style.

I dont think someone got it right the first time watching but Sakuma already wasnt much of a rival to Peko, more like always trying to surpass him. I was in awe when I realized Peko was the true shit in this anime, never expected it.

Does anybody have any idea if the particles above akuma's shoulders have any meaning at all? They also appear slightly on kazama's shoulders when he gets out of the bus on the beggining of the second tournament.
It can be something just artist related (i imagine the frames and the scenes weren't draw all by the same person). But on the other hand, it can really have a meaning. Anger maybe? I really can't get my head arround it.
