I have a black RP3+ and removed the vent screen on the back, they look like its molded with the case but Its just a sticker. I noticed the temps didn't get as hot when the screen was on. It reduced temps dramatically.
i love my retro 16bit plastic 2s I got last week. I am having buyer's remorse towards the metal version. Is it really that beeter than the plastic one? Mine never overheat btw
I'd keep the plastic one since you already own it. The metal one is nice of course, but the benefit is mostly just better cooling.
The screws are stripped on the top edge of my 2s metal also, I think this is unfortunately a common issue. I think they should be using a thread insert as they sell DIY button kits etc and know customers will be removing the backs!

Gotta be honest I dont like the form factor for the 2s so the metal version costing even more isnt for me. Thanks for the review anyway though 🙂
I think It's great, It's the budget model for a reason and the 4:3 screen Is great for most older games, I'd consider a RP4 only If i decide to start Android gameing so at this moment the 2S Is all I need.

what is crazy is that the metal version has 2 heat sinks but the plastic version doesn't. the plastic version gets very hot on more demanding games. retroid need to fix that.
My guess is that this one needs it, the other would just benefit from it
Im not done with the video so idk if he mentions it, but im sure that the temps are the same objectively compared to the plastic version
Metal just heats up more so this without heat sinks would probably mess up the device frfr

@@akapeegly6463 Metal doesn't "heat up more". The metal case is actually better for heat transfer, the shell becomes a heat sink.
They are pads, the metal case is acting as a sync.
