I had bought the tutorial in the early bird stage, and just noticed that the courses were already available thanks to watching this video, will start right away after this video!
Amazing video as usual! Looking into getting the course. Keep up the great work! Would also love a tutorial on how you made your motion graphics, really nice!
Thanks Maximo! Yeah, I think we'll do a masterclass on how we created our graphics in Fusion. It's a popular question we get. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the course, please get in touch.
I’m waiting for full-screen panels like with the tilda key in Premiere. Also the markers index in Premiere with thumbnails rocks. I still use Resolve but it’s not up to speed for me because those two are key.
Those are good points you raise. 1. Have you used dual screen mode with Resolve? Did you know there is a full screen timeline mode? 2. The Marker Index with thumbnails things is a great feature. The edit page doesn't have that. You might like the Lightbox int he colour page though. That can be used to filter just clips with markers or flags on. I know it's not quite the same, but just trying to think of ideas for you. Pitch your ideas in the resolve forum.
@@team2films Thanks. I have one widescreen. When I tried the dual screen mode once, I found it to be a workaround. I'd just hoped that with all of the updates, this would be one. But now 18 and 19 beta crashe on startup. Ugh.
I exclusively edit music videos and a lot of shots needs no be synced with the audio. It would be fun to see your take on a good music video work flow? Like is it really possible or worth it to use the cut page at all for music videos? Is there any advantages etc. : )
7:57 I would love when we adjust the speed, we can make the change of speed smooth in the keyframe editor, but what about doing some ramp by adding keyframe and just have segments, not just S lines. I could decide to start a 1mn clip at 24 frames and slowly increase it to 200 frames, right now if I just the usual add speed change point, even with smooth s line, it won’t increase gradually… I hope you understand what I mean…
Hello, we're trying to understand what you mean. Speed changes can be ramped smoothly by easing the speed point keyframes. It's done in the retime curve editor. Does make sense, or have we misunderstood your question.
Great video as usual. I am trying to switch from FCP and often synchronize external audio to video as well use external audio for multicam edits. Does the audio properties feature work the same way as FCP where you can check/uncheck which audio you’d like to use?
Thanks Stevie. Yes it works a similar way. It's still in beta though, so I expect there to be minor issues present that will be resolved before the official release. Please check out our course btw, it sounds like it would be perfect for you. There's a link in the description, and you can watch lesson 4.3 for free. Great to have you here.

@@coffeelover1456 Team 2 Films already has *a ton* of quality DaVinci Resolve 18 videos, right? And their newly released course is on version 18 - did you already get it? A new version (even if public beta) is exciting to many, including me. (Perhaps you a TH-camr yourself?) I'm certainly not, but if I earned a living (or part of my living) with my channel, I too would want to talk about what's new, quickly. Your comment probably also belongs on all the DaVinci Resolve-focused channels, as many of them (maybe all, I don't know…) have jumped in on this public beta. Maybe I'll see it there as well. I enjoyed reading your comment, best of luck on your projects.
When changing the audio channel to mono for 1 speaker does it have to be done for EVERY clip? Or is there a way to do it for all clips for that one speaker?
Yes, you can do it for all clips simultaneously. We've not tested that with the new inspector properties pane. But you can definitely do that with the clip attributes dialogue.
Thanks. Great video. For me it's mess. Several sections where I was talking it would label it as silent bits. Not words but whole sentences. Love DR for many things but Premiere Pro does this better I'm afraid. DR is still too buggy.
There’s always one of you premiere pro losers in the comments, and you always seem to have “bUgS” that no one else does. Premiere Pro sucks, get over it.
Sorry you're having a buggy experience. Remember this is a public beta. It's not the official 19 release yet so comparing it to an official Premiere release is like comparing Apples and Oranges! I'm sure stability will be improving massively over the next month as they gather feedback and work towards the official release. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
@bseffrood Hey hey, no need to be like that. Premiere Pro is a fine piece of software that has some excellent features that aren't found on Resolve. And the beta for Resolve v19 definitely has bugs. It's a beta after all! We love Resolve here, but we've also had plenty of great experiences working on Premiere Pro too. @anilaboutme Great to have you here. Thanks for commenting.
But why isn't there a complete list of everything when an upgrade comes out? Especially because there isn't a clear distinction between what the free version and what the Studio can do? To give an example, how do I know that pressing ALT on the effects list now opens all the subfolders of the tree?
There is a complete list! There's a readme included with the installation that has an extensive list of all the new features in version 19. Don't forget it's still in Beta. A beta is by nature an unfinished early version of a product. The full manual will be released when version 19 goes official.
The one feature you showed that nobody mentioned was the ability to edit footage taken in Apple cinematic mode. Is there something extra you have to do to activate it? I exported original footage from photos on Mac and imported to resolve 19 and it doesn't offer the option in the timeline like you demonstrated.
Heya, no I don't think there is anything special you need to do to activate it. We did have some minor challenges getting the footage off our phones though. Depending on the way you export it, the iPhone might flatten and transcode the file. Can I suggest that you try getting the file off your phone a different way. Try 'Export Unmodified Original' from your phone.
Thanks for the news, the base text update are very good, love to see AI help working for us, to speed up interview editing. I hope in the future for a "ummmm, ehmmmm" remover, like the silence remover
I must be a moron - I cannot figure this out. I transcribe some audio, delete parts I don't want, and when I do insert it just put's everything in there, like I didn't delete anything... Edit: I am a moron :D I was clicking play on the clip, and not the timeline, didn't know that was an option. Clicking play on the timeline had the inserted edited clip. Voice can be a little wonky right now though, like editing this way is garbling up the audio sometimes. Can't wait for final release. of 19.
Any idea as to when the official release of this version will be available? I am timid to update to a beta version while having ongoing projects in Davinci.
I'm not too sure. It might be worth looking at the timing of 18.5's official release. The beta was launched at IBC 2023. If you are on a Mac, it's easy to install two versions of Resolve. It's a little more difficult on Windows.
@@team2films Good point. I did this and renamed version 18 of the app as an additional precaution. You can also zip (compress, in macOS parlance) the previous version and keep it handy in case you need to revert. Also important: backing up your library, since after opening a given project in the public beta version, you cannot revert back to 18 without that project. All common sense stuff, really. Thank you Natalie, for this excellent overview vid.
