Good for the bloke on the LC, not afraid to use it I just don't get turning up to something like this and then driving off like you've got chronic piles.
Good on that 1971 Norton Commando for giving it a bit of juice !!! Some of these riders seemed afraid to put their feet on the pegs, like this is the only event they ride in, and once a year is not much practice, lol !!!
That Rapide outfit got away like snot off a stick @ 6:34...... but the prize goes to the chap on the 350LC! Shows what a gamechanger the Elsie was at the time....
Those Laverda's sound great! I don't think I've ever seen 1 in person. Helpful tip -- if they don't want the 2-strokes to smoke so much, use Stihl brand chainsaw 2-stroke oil in your premix.
@@keithdawson4804 The other problem is when the bike is not used much or pushed hard the exhaust does not get hot enough to burn the oil off. Had a lot of problems racing Kawasakis for people who had only run them in the workshops. 4 or 5 laps at racing speeds sorted it out
Thank you for posting this, it's the only motorcycle video I have found from this years Kop Hill. I am the owner of the orange Laverda Jota at the beginning, FYI it got Best in Show award for post ww2 bikes.
Hey Steve, if you go to our channel there's three videos on Kop Hill including this one. Also, we took some really nice shots of your bike and they're on our Instagram and Facebook, check them out @theclassicmotorcyclechannel - loved your Jota, so nicely presented
That RD 350 would be so much faster and quicker and rotate left and right so much better and be able to corner over bumpy corners so much better without that second disc. that second disc is a flywheel that must be accelerated that second disc is a gyroscope that resists change of direction like being able to flip left to right to left to right in S corners that second disc and caliper and hardware and hose is unsprung weight added needlessly. Porsche has been using titanium Lugnuts on their car wheels for decades just to save a few ounces, this bike has pounds added to it then there’s brake drag of the disk pads. Put the bike on the center stand, get the front wheel off the ground, and try to give it a spin. You’ll be lucky to get one rotation out of it because of the brake pad drag I experienced how badly adding a second disc affected acceleration, tracking over bumpy corners, and the ability to turn quickly from left to right and back again on my road racing machine, which I won six championships, and two national championships on years ago. I added the second disc one weekend..I went to practice on Saturday. Competitors that I was just as fast as because we were on the same machines, we’re pulling away from me about three or 4 miles an hour out of corners. My machine would bounce off line in bumpy corners, it could not maintain its line because the suspension was overwhelmed with the additional unsprung weight. I was losing five seconds per lap in practice, I went out in the heat race Saturday which was seven laps on the track that was a little over 2 miles long. are usually was within two seconds of the lead pack no matter where I started in the heat races which were based on your registration time for the start of the heat race. I came in 40 seconds behind the leader with that second disc anchor up front.. that means that the winner of the heat race that day was 4000+ feet ahead of me. That’s more than 3/4 of a mile.. that means I would have been lapped in a 15 lap sprint on Sunday final race, race i usually won.. that means I would be more than a mile and a half behind where I would be with just a single disc. that night after the heat races, I took that extra plumbing, the caliper, the mounting bolts for the caliper, the brake pads, the disk, the mounting bolts for the disc, all off my race bike, and I threw them out the back door of my garage, and I didn’t even look to see where they landed.. I started the Sunday race back with the also-rans in 17th place on the grid.. because I removed that performance murdering second disc, my machine was it’s white, quick, peppy self. I won the race-, And that was critical to my year end points tally because that was one of the two years I went on to be national champion

I just don't get turning up to something like this and then driving off like you've got chronic piles.
I love all bikes but that lc350 launch was great. Sounded just like I used to ride mine when I was 18
That Benelli was a thing of beauty. RD350 guy was in it to win it - good for him for winding her up a little.
My first bike at 18 was the rd350……loved it!
Those 80's LC are still a great looking bike.
3:42 came here for the LC, I wasn't disappointed. (Ridden like an LC should be ridden!)
Stolen😅😄😃
Love the LC being ridden in exactly the same manner it would of been back in the day! 😁
There's only one way to ride an LC. I had the 250cc version on L plates back in 1981. Mad little bike!
Shows the significance of the LC in motorcycling but a spirited rider is great to watch,,, from northern Ireland ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Yep- It seemed like quite a few of the old British bikes were being ridden pretty gently.
Many a time thats the way I started at the lights under the bridge at Sprucefield leaving the smell of Castrol R30 behind.

Came to comment on the Norton, loved that wrist action! Bloody brilliant :-)
I recognized my late father's G12 Matchless right at the end! Greetings from the U.S (Formerly Holmer Green!)

That Norton Commando at 4:56 sounded gorgeous....
LC in the thumbnail lured me here. Lusted after those in the early 80s. Still love them.
That RC45 Honda looks more like a CBR900 Fireblade.
CBR900 SC33, 98 model.
@@adamroper1197 I believe you are correct Sir. It's definitely a 'Blade. I had this one myself back in the day. Beautiful machine.
@@AnthonyDonnellyTT Yeah, I had the model just before this one. It's one of my favourite bikes I've owned.
Thanks for great footage - that's me on the CB550 at 3m07s
Nice one Jeff!
Looks like your rear tyre was under inflated ?
Came for the LC. Wasn't disappointed.
6:32 that vincent with a side car still fast i say... 🤯
Very quick combo!
Some absolutely beautiful machines there…✌️👍
The LC in the thumbnail grabbed my attention, and I was not disappointed.
RD350LC still looks fantastic to me, if Yamaha would sell it exactly this way again, I'd buy at once!
Agree 100%
A great video. These motorcycles - there is something for every taste.

Plenty of synthetic 2t oils for bikes that don't smoke much. More often problem is over-oiling (pump or mix)
I've got one, and a 750 too 😎
I was a bit disappointed with that pair of Laverda's . Probably too much of an investment piece to wring its neck . Shame .

Waw good klasik top top very nice
Some great sounds there.
RD350LC many happy memories from passing my bike test and owning 350LC OVC 323W on chrome allspeed exhausts before it became a legendary bike.
350 LC still looks quick.
Hi just to point out at 5.11 that is a 1993 Honda Cbr900r Fireblade mk2 and not an RVF750, I only know that as the rc45 is one of my dream bikes.
Was going to say exactly that - that wasn't an RC45 but a Fireblade. 😁
My money is on RD350 and the 75 Z1. I own a 75” Z1 and I certainly don’t ride it like a grandma. Let er rip !!
The two Velocettes near the end looked like a Thruxton and a Venom
Yeah, I think so Rich, we don't like putting down exact details unless we can get everything right :)
Thanks for the upload, awesome footage.
Thanks a lot Adam :)
Good effort from the Vinnie with the chair and the Commando got the berries, LC was a bit disappointing.
The RD350 certainly stole the day and rightly so. Long live the 2 strokers.
Wow that RD350 really took off!

So rare that benelli 250 stroker
The 75 Honda CB550 is the most beautiful bike ever built, Yamaha RD350 LC is second to that 😀

Third bike maybe a CB125rs.

Some of these bikes weren’t designed to have such heavy riders

RC 45? Lolz. Jesus, did I see someone going up in a sidecar, with no helmet? Will make for an interesting court case if anything goes wrong.

At 5.15 that is a Fireblade, come on now, that's worse than a school boy error.

So there are few / no women riders in these events?
Yep, there was four or five women riders there on the day.
