A lively rendition which reveals some features of Bach's contrapuntal genius that slower performances miss. Excellent. Thank you for sharing this.
This is actually likely by Johann Ludwig Krebs, Bach's favorite student. Of him, Bach said "He is the only crayfish in the stream." Bach, in German, means brook or stream, and Krebs means crayfish. High praise indeed. Krebs is often overlooked, but was a prolific, skilled composer in his own right.
Voran, bem Eingang des Gottesdienstes, das Prozessionskreuz tragend, der Messner, hinterher die jungen Ministranten und dann der lutherische Geistlicher, waehrend die Gemeinde stehend diese feierliche Musik entgegen nahm. All dies wurde nach Bach verlorengegangen!
All registrations used sound alike. I prefer more contrast using the possibilities of the instrument. And sometimes it is worth recalling ; it is in D minor key!
