He was a legend - he didn't need to "go toe to toe" with them, he was as good, in some cases, better. He was not underrated as many people often say. In the U.S. he was disappeared from our radios by his own record company who was pissed he wouldn't do business the way they demanded. But, in the rest of the world, he was always heard and listened to and his albums sold elsewhere like crazy even though here we didn't even know he had released albums.

Stevie Wonders 2nd album released in 1962 was called A Tribute to Uncle Ray, he was 11 yrs old and he did Ray Charles songs. And hearing this is it all coming full circle!! Now Uncle Ray tributes his prodigy!! My eternal gratitude for and to both of these amazing people, musicians, singers, souls and spirits. The world is a brighter place because of them! God bless them and all of humanity.

When George went solo, he had this theory that to break into the North American market he needed someone well known to do a duet with.. Hence Aretha. Since then artists are more than happy to work with him. Hell if I could sing I would love to do duet with him. GM is God"s gift to us, and we treasure him.
