that's what I thought until i started working at honda, and I saw them installing a few spoilers...asked the tech why he needed to install the spring...showed me that if you lift the trunk up half way without the spring, it would just fall right back down, whereas with the stiffer spring it will hold.
Be careful with the ebay wings, they dont line up like factory equip does (speaking from exprience)...so ya might want one that goes on with only 3m tape if ya get it from ebay!

My deck wing didn't come with the bolts pre installed like that , and I don't want to use only tape , anybody know the bolt size needed?
You need to contact the seller of the item. Those bolts are preinstalled "if" it is a Genuine Honda item. They should be 6mm bolts.
the only reason they use the heavier trunk springs is to jack up the install cost. theres no need for the springs when the spoiler only weights 2 lbs

how come you remove the orginal right trunk spring and replace a firmer spring??
So the trunk doesn't fall from the added weight.
Is there a way to buy just that template to mark the holes?
I bought that spoiler but didn't come with the template

Labor rate will vary by dealer. Honda's recommended install time is .8 hours.

Not a very in depth video...coming from a dealership you'd think they would be a little more informative...my opinion

I'm only saying because the instructions seem lengthy...at least talking over the video instead of music I think would help a little more.
