hey man thank you for the answer sorry for not getting back because of the holidays. watched again and it's a really good review. at 5:20 you say that the battery lid has a pass through does that mean if I get just 5 volts on a USB C plug in, I can keep the battery topped off All the time? so I can max out the camera settings? or the battery electronics does not allow that and it has to be removed to be charged? I think it's a really important distinction considering ease of use. about clip lengths limitations if I understand well The maximum length of a clip can be 120+10 seconds? Even if the trigger is constant it won't go over this but start a new recording instead? what I don't understand if a thief packs out the car that would probably be more than this so the actual evidence would be cut in several parts. considering the crimes talked about in the media today the max length should be at least 5 or 10 minutes imho. please correct me if I don't understand properly the lengths at 30:35 in your video. but seeing the very friendly interface and straightforward use I'm still considering this unit. 🤔🤔
@@kbuss10 All good, the pass through lets you keep the battery topped off via power. It is meant to be used with a solar panel but could be direct power as well. This way you do not have to be without the camera monitoring things to charge the battery. At 30:35, yes the max clip length is 120+10 for the buffer. The trigger interval can be set to 0 which would limit the chance of actions not being recorded. Yes it is a little annoying having a number of action clips over a large period of time but that is done to help save the battery. Not everyone will use this camera wired to power to keep the battery topped off.
I love mine but the batteries take forever to charge up and also i have an issue with it not detecting things correctly. For example itll say pet detected ill look at the recording and itll be me and my little boy walking up the stairs it thinks my little boy is a pet i wish they could fix this it has a hard time distinguishing what an actual animal is
As you might have seen in my video it thought a bird was a person and I think tha has to do with how large something is thought to be by the camera. The brid was very close and larg so it was a person. I feel that things like this can get better over time as the camera learns what people and pets actually look like.
@Wanderer001_Reviews I mean I totally agree but I just feel as though that's something thames could've tested and had worked out so we as consumers didn't have to experience that ya kno. Alot of times we rely on this information to be accurate and then when it isn't its just disappointing.
Those are meant to work without the use of a hub, saving the recordings directly to the camera. However, you could bring up the live feed of each of the cameras at once using the Tapo app.
Yes, you can use this camera outside and upside down. There is an invert image option in the camera settings that will correct the orientation of the image if placed upside down.
Hey buddy, nice video - I am considering this and other Tapo products especially the light switch. Do you know if they can work together....say if the camera detects motion at night, then the lights are triggered outside and inside? Thanks !
Yes, there is a section on the app call smart. Here you can setup triggers like IFTT type thnigs. So if a camera detection motion then a light swtich and turn on, or if a person is detected on one camera then an alarm can be triggered on another camera. It is pretty extensive.
@@Wanderer001_ReviewsSorry bud, 1 more question please - what Alexa routines have you set up (if any), in mine, it doesn't recognize the camera (says camera is not supported) when I wanted it to tell my Echo that there is motion, only thing Alexa allows is to turn on the camera which renders this Alexa integration useless for me
@@SanjayChadha Honestly most of my Alexa rutines are to turn on and off lights. When doing ruutines for cameras I generally try to set them up using the cameras app. So tappo camera can trigger a tappo light to do something.

I understand and like cameras that give you the option. Then it is up to you which you would like to use. Some cameras make you get a subscription only and that can trun off a lot of people.

@Wanderer001_Reviews I mean I totally agree but I just feel as though that's something thames could've tested and had worked out so we as consumers didn't have to experience that ya kno. Alot of times we rely on this information to be accurate and then when it isn't its just disappointing.
@@ilikeitwhatisit6749 I do understand that. Kind of why I do these videos to help people see what they would be getting themselves into.
Can you add more than 2 cameras, to this unit
Yes, the package that I got came with two cameras, but the hub can be attached to more than just the two.
i Have C420s2 If I buy another Tapo C310 or C320WS can I playback from hub memory? like c420s2?
Those are meant to work without the use of a hub, saving the recordings directly to the camera. However, you could bring up the live feed of each of the cameras at once using the Tapo app.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Thank you for your answer, Can you please tell me which camera is using Hub for saving
@@internatinolshopmuinternat4112 The cameras in this video the C420S2 uses the hub.
I love your review about the bu. I did not know the hub can be wirelessly connected to the wifi, or did i misunderstood it
You did not. After you set it up hardwired you can then change it to operate over WiFi.
Is it better to just leave it connected to the router using Ethernet cable? Also, does this camera come with flood light as well as alarm?
can i mount the tp link tapo cameras outside up side down
Yes, you can use this camera outside and upside down. There is an invert image option in the camera settings that will correct the orientation of the image if placed upside down.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews thanks a lot
Hey buddy, nice video - I am considering this and other Tapo products especially the light switch. Do you know if they can work together....say if the camera detects motion at night, then the lights are triggered outside and inside? Thanks !
Yes, there is a section on the app call smart. Here you can setup triggers like IFTT type thnigs. So if a camera detection motion then a light swtich and turn on, or if a person is detected on one camera then an alarm can be triggered on another camera. It is pretty extensive.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Hi mate, thanks for getting back to me. I have ordered some cameras and looking forward to installing them in the house.
@@SanjayChadha Happy to help.
Can give directly Power to charge
Yes there is a passthrough in the back if you wanted to power the battery from a power source.
thank you so much fully explained superb way
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you found the review helpful.
Still working? any issue?
Still works, have not run into any myself.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews
How long the battery last?
@@BM-dl2qz That is a little harder to say as it depends on where they are located and the amount of traffic in those areas. I have gotten 2.5 months out of them, but I have nightly visits from deer where they hang around for a few hrs trigger the cameras.
How far can Tapo detect motion?
When I was testing about 45Feet.
Can you mix and match the battery-operated hub cameras with the plugged-in ones without the hub?
You can mix and match them all with in one app. However, just know that you can not connect plug in cameras to the hub if they were not made to do so.
I see you have both c325wb and c420s1. Aside from being wireless, what's your view in term of comparison? eg video quality
The big difference between these two camreas is the dark view on the C325WB is crazy and puts the c420s1 to shame. But the C420 cane be put just about anywhere. If I had to pick I would go with the C325WB as long as I had a power supply. The C325WB also has better connectivity becuase they are not built into the body of the camera. let me know if you had any other areas of question.
HELP MY HUB IS NOT CONNECTING I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING
Have you tried the hard rest bottom on the home base?
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Yes, I did. I resetted the hub for 5 times as of now. Maybe more since i lost count. I tried putting the cable to a different lan port, still not working. I think it is defective since it glows amber yet the hub is not detected by my phone
@@kathleenrivas6257 It might be I would reach out to Tapo support and see what they say.
Nice informative video. Thank you!
Happy to help.
Heres why i like havng cloud storage as well though say somone breaks into your house and for whatever reason they still your base station with your card in it well that would be a problem if that was thebonly way to access your footage but with the subscription you can still see what happens on the camera becasue its on the cloud so i think its nice that they give you the option for either one. I do wish they would offer something like a replacement guarantee there are some camera companies who if your camera is taken down and stolen they will send you another cameea to replace it so thats something that i was hoping they would offer with this
I understand and like cameras that give you the option. Then it is up to you which you would like to use. Some cameras make you get a subscription only and that can trun off a lot of people.
After 8 months, i am very disappointed by this camera.
1) Battery life never exceeds 30 days, regardless of settings
2) Impossible to find and buy spare batteries
3) 10 hours to make a full charge of the battery
THE WORST VIDEO. JUST SAT IN THE ROOM AND SAID .....BLA BLA >>..
DONT EVEN GO OUTSIDE TO SET TO SHOW HOW CAM WORK< HOW BRIGHT, SOUND ......STUPIDDDDDD
It sounds like this in-depth video was a little too long for you. That's why I provide helpful timestamps for those who are looking for specific parts of the review. The audio test as well as the visual tests are towards the end of the video and are marked in the description. Do you feel free to look at them as this is a comprehensive review and not a I open a box and read specs..
No video? Ridiculous
As stated in this video it is only a 1018 video and in order to not down scale the 2k video it was uploaded as its own video which was linked in both the description as well as with a info card. But if you missed it here is the RAW video footage from this camera: th-cam.com/video/HUniIML6Ouw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HwdboeU6hnkL-dt2.
