I thought the whole story of Artemis, the Atlas interface at the end, the whole dialogue and lure leading up to that point was amazing. It's a Journey of understanding, it's not the end of the game, there is no end to this game, it's an infinite universe!

Technically it’s the end but not the end,it’s the completion level 1 of the game where you’ve gotten an ending/done something Big where you have drained most of the will to play or just done enough of the game to say you’ve completed it
Wow. When I saw the original "center of the universe" thing when the game launched, I didn't think there was any way to fix it. But the "universe is a computer simulation" thing is pretty good for this game. It sorta makes the whole thing work.
Well, the Atlas is something that was created to make this simulated universe and the Atlas anomalies that you find in the game is how it chooses to interact with travelers within its own created simulation. Once you finish the game you can open up these cool interfaces in buildings and space stations that require something called a "remembrance" (what you get access to after you beat the game). Anyway long story short, these things give you the lore of the game and are something to read up on as the story is quite neat.
No Man's Sky isn't actually disappointing but genius and it's the high expectations of the players. People seek a goal, an end or any story and the game reflects the greatness and poetry of the universe throughout the Atlas-path: There is no purpose, it's a human construct...
Ik finally somebody understands. The game is not meant to be played its meant to be experienced. When you really look at it, you weren't gonna get a better ending than starting over. No Man's Sky is meant to be a infinite platform for you to explore and enjoy to your hearts content. Not just another game to beat and throw in the trash. People misunderstood No Man's Sky and were completely blind to its true colors, to its true beauty. Nobody sits down and sees No Man's Sky as a entire universe, nobody sees it as a work of art. Thy just see it as a video game that is boring and repetitive
There is a sense of sadness when you reset the simulation and start a new one. All the challenges, the hazards, lifeforms and planets... Gone. It's especially sad to see the lifeforms gone, as most of them are friendly.
Does everything actually get reset? Like can you use the interstellar teleporter in the Space Anomaly to teleport back to Euclid and all your bases and stuff will still be there? Or does it actually wipe everything out? If it actually wipes everything out I'll probably decide to stay in Euclid...

Idk if you're being sarcastic or not. If so, please ignore this :) But if not, the Discoveries, Star Map (discoveries), and multiplayer all run through HG's servers. Pretty nice when stuff like Unification Day happens, visiting a friend's base, and such.
I always tense when entering the Atlas, because I don't know if, when the chamber opens up on the other side of the tunnel, it'll look normal, unsettling, or creepy. And there's no way to turn around without getting closeup 😬
PushandillPushback interesting! My reasoning is simple. We are in one of billions and billions and billions of galaxies. We are in one of billions and billions of solar systems in this galaxy alone. If every solar system had an average of 5 planets, the amount of planets is astronomically large, to our perspective seemingly infinite. We are in what's known as the Goldilocks zone of our sun. That's where the temperature is that of liquid water. So assuming we evolved naturally based on the right concoction of elements and temperature and time, then many billions of other planets have the same potential of having some sort of development of life. Logically, there are probably billions of alien species all over this vast universe. And that's just thinking about carbon based life forms mirroring the conditions we live in. Who knows what other potential life forms could form from other elements (silicone maybe?) and thrive off of. The truth is we can't know because of limited technology. Idk how we got in this argument but I love it XD
I bought a ps4 just to play this game...... I was not disappointed. I've not put this game down for more than 2 years, it has everything I ever wanted from a game. I've started building a massive underground base, and the only thing that could make it better is a population. I want to build a civilization centre........ an empire maybe........ having specialist desk bound companions is very well and good, but to create a galactic community of npcs would just put a wicked shine on this game for me. I mean, you can build a fleet, so why not a community?
Think about the missions you could have too!! The sentinels could be sent out on a population surpressoon mission, and your job will be to oversee your people's defends personally, or in the role of battlefield supervision! Beat of the waves of sentinels! New blueprints for defensive turrets, gun bunkers, earthworks, etc....... one small change to the game gives birth to a range of new possibilities.......
i know I'll inevitably have to reset the galaxy but i just,,, will struggle to bring myself to do it idk the story really made me attached to Artemis and honestly condemn null for how many times they reset for their selfish desire ik its just a game but damn did it suck me in

Tragic :( I hope this video helps people avoid making a mistake they cannot undo. Tbh, the “pocket reality” quicksilver item should be an actual interactive thing that you unlock for each galaxy you travel to and unlock
Well the stupid thing is, it says in the log that “Atlas awaits if I want to change my decision” but when I go to an atlas station, it just allows me to birth starts over and over again which is strange.
@@Rocksteady72a I tried to do a reset with the green option. When it started panning around to the left in the galactic map it kicked me out of the game 6 times in a row. I finally had to choose to refuse to reset. Now after I finally found the Atlas interface again it is like a normal visit and doesn't give me the option to reset. Currently i'm 3 ly from the center trying to get to the center. There's nothing closer to the center but the center for me. I read you have to have your fuel completely full. I filled everything up but had to go back to send some frigates out so I didn't get to try it. I built a base at 3 ly away so it'll be easy to go back and try again. Just deciding if I want to.
The anomaly wasn't as much of a thing during the version this was recorded on. That being said, the anomaly remains as something you can spawn and visit. Although, you still cannot travel between galaxies via portals, and most community-related collaborations and coordinates remain 1st-galaxy focused. Edit: This is a pre-Origins rule. I have yet to confirm if this is still in place. Joining directly on a player or visiting bases via Nexus portal seems to allow you intergalactic travel (written during Prism).
This game makes me wonder about how many different timelines we have been in, in real life and we forgot about them. Its like saying I always think my life is a simulation and when i (we) die it resets our memories along with everything we’ve ever seen and done and puts me (us) into another timeline
Well scientists Ave recently figured out that once this universe dies, its gonna go through another big bang, and another universe will be born and it will die, and be reborn, etc etc. So there's no telling how many times the universe has done this.
I’ve been questioning the theory of a creator and the unisverse itself and my existence yet I haven’t gotten an answer. I have so little to live yet so much to explore but nothing adds up. It’s almost as if the “creator” or “creation” doesn’t want us to know or not know.

I suppose being called a traveler has some sense to it in its name when you think about it. If you arrive somewhere in a new galaxy, why and how could have the same stuff and it NOT be broken? Your in a new galaxy so it only makes sense that every thing you have be broken. The jump alone should’ve dismantled you but it didn’t. Not to mention the galaxy inferiority complex being substantial meaning gravity could very well be pie or cupcakes. Air could be napalm and water could be pure acid. It makes more sense then the entire game does.

Complete Stargate reference, I love that, the symbols are very similar on the top, the keypad to open it is almost identical, the opening of the gate is similar, and the whole portal phase is similar to Stargate.
I like the number of ppl still hating on this game. Its a very good game at the moment. If you are in such poverty that you cant let go 50 not well spent for so long i feel bad i guess.
The more you think about it, No Man's Sky isn't about the aliens, or the planets, or conflicts, or goals. It's a parallel to real life. Someone is a sceptic like Apollo, someone might believe, like you, and it's completely psychological. At the end of the day, you shouldn't reach the goal, because there is only one goal, death. You should enjoy the journey while it lasts. And the game is not talking about itself, it's talking about the life we have on Earth in our lives, enjoy it while you can. Everything else is irrelevant. So this is actually more than a game. Perhaps the "game" we were playing was our life outside of the game all along.
Well these endings are better than the original ending when the game first came out mainly cause it at least gives context to the third ending and you have the option to continue the save instead of just restarting
This game is genuianly the most beautiful game I've played and enjoyed. I got the second ending where it zooms out of each galaxy which I've yet to explore with so much time on my hands I can explore each system out there and find as many creatures out there and explore every star there is to be seen This doesn't feel like a game it feels like your actually there all the people I've met on No Man's Sky all the beings everything I've done doesn't feel like it was a mission it felt like I was actually doing it I never want to leave this game to rot, I want to keep playing this until death do us part

Correction: It will end with a date. Because the No Mans Sky universe is a simulation, time is warped to be much slower than the real world. After humans left the earth and their simulation, the simulation carried on, but started to glitch and rust and more errors started to occur. Because of this, there will be 16 minutes left of the simulation IN THE REAL WORLD but in the simulation, 16 minutes is equivalent to thousands of millions of years. So yes, it will end with a date, but the date is very, very far away.
So essentially, we are Artamis. When we damned Artamis to an eternal existence in that simulator of Nada's, we are essentially experiencing the same fate.
Ok, so what exactly do we keep after reset? He had his suit maxed (broken, but maxed), so i guess it stayed. What about the multitool, ship, mods, blueprints? I dont mind going with "reset" option and losing my resources, as long i get to keep my blueprints and gear

No, it’s not trapping anyone. The atlas was a universe simulator supercomputer built by future humans, most likely to help with stellar colonization. But it was abandoned when humanity left earth completely. It’s creator decided to not shut it down and let it remain powered on. So the atlas continued doing what it can do best - simulate universes. But as with all machines, it will eventually break down. In this case, it has several minutes before it shuts down and dies. But it’s really fast so for it it’s thousands if not tens of thousands of years, maybe even millions. It created travellers as a simulated version of it’s creator to try and prevent it’s death. It’s simulations show that right before it dies, a human will appear near it, implied to be it’s creator, but what it will do with the atlas and why it is there it cannot predict.
That's a what if, but I have the real answer for you: We all have a creator and it is Allah SWT, none can be greater or equal to the lord Allah SWT. All this "universe is a simulation" is all jokes, I want you to ask yourself this. Why did the big bang happen(I don't believe in it at all) why was there nothing to begin with and all of a sudden some insignificant atoms or whatever collided and made the universe? There is a creator, and he created us for one reason: To worship him. I know lore wise to think of simulations is all fun and cool but irl... that's just not gonna work. Yeah, never understood how people reached the center in vanilla with such a distance to jump. I loved the game when it came out, but I got NOwhere NEAR the center by the time this update went live.
I played the game for hours on end when it first came out, stayed with the game through the hate, but I never got anywhere close to the center, I stopped playing until the update came out

Forgot what ending I did, but I got to a point where Apollo messaged me and asked for forgiveness. I said no, he broke down in tears and ended communications. That is the last I ever heard from him. This just shook me.
The easiest way to get to new galaxies after the main story is to complete the “Atlas Quest” mission, allowing you to see black hole which is a huge advantage for reaching the center.
Since im kinda dumb, when i reset the simulation and had to choose the Galaxies, i didnt even notice that i had to choose so i Just went on the green one on pure luck and i got the transition with the song leavint euclid and i got sad. When i Discovered i accidentally choose eissentam i got happier.
What it amounts to is that some of your stuff may or may not get broken, and you may or may not get shunted to a different Galaxy. Probably, you'd get more deep insight from a box of fortune cookies than from the Atlas, whom I am not liking very much at all. On with the game! :)
I was not aware that there was an end. I have been under the impression that this was a continuous ever ongoing adventure of accumulation of wealth, unless you are killed off by pirates, marauders or some other unfortunate event. Where then you start from the beginning anew. I haven't watched in a few months and it has changed immensely...for the better from what I keep reading in commentaries.
It feels werid I didn't have any of these endings, the atlas judged me saying I had potential to create atrocities and wonders and then said to whisper the last word which was 16
Yah, I have 600 hours since NEXT, and I freakin love it. And they just keep adding to the game. Been a couple of months since the last patch, bet they're working on something big.
Anyone else get the angle of this? When designing a game what is seen is from the point of view of the ATLAS (player) because everything in the players feild of view is rendered while what isn't seen is not
That's my theory on it. The atlas is a game system with a A.I in it that's bout to die n is aware of this.so it conducts a simulation to figure out y n how to stop it n sends us da player to explore n find a answer.
I don't know why some people don't like the ending. It's not something we like or expected but this is actually a possibility. If we do find the end in reality, it could be very similar in the game.
On one hand you are made to dislike the Atlas for willingly destroying quintillions of life forms it created and punishing those who question it, on the other hand you have to feel a deep sympathy for it too

QUESTION (to anyone): at 5:19 it says the choice will remain open to us if we wish to return. Well, after having left I'd like to return and make my choice ... except I dont see how. Atlas stations no longer appeared on my galactic map, and the only way to get them to do so was to hunt down an anomaly and ask Nada again about the Atlas path ... but when I return it's asking me for another Heart of a New Star, which is the culmination of the Atlas Quest, not the New Beginnings Quest. So, after having opted to leave (and return later), how do we get back to the spot at 5:19 were we decide whether or not to reset, and if so, which galaxy type we want for the galactic reset ? The vid doesn't show because you simply reload from just prior to meeting Atlas for the last time.
While not the purpose of the vid, I'm actually in the same boat as you. As for as I know, you must reach the center the long-way around to be given the choice again, as there is no way to repeat the Artemis quest. Hopefully, in a future patch, they will give us the direct address to the center Atlas (after quest completion, of course) so we can choose again more conveniently.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, but I think you may have missed a subtle but important aspect to my question ... I'm already AT the next center (Calypso), and it's asking me for ANOTHER heart of a star (which I easily could craft in a couple mins with on hand materials, if I wanted), but I dont want to create a new star because that's the wrong quest (Atlas Path vs New Beginnings). Rather, I want to reset the galaxy (or more accurately, jump from my current galaxy, which happens to be calypso, to the tranquil green one, which happens to be #10 aka Eissentam). You seem to be implying that, despite what Atlas implies at 5:19 there actually is no way to get back to the decision point, and that I'll have to get to the tranquil galaxy the LONG long route (Calypso 3 -> Hesperius 4 -> blah 5 -> blah 6 -> blah 7 -> blah 8 -> blah 9 -> 10 Eissentam). If so, major suckage. :-( If not, I'd be hugely grateful for some clarification, because this is a game ending sticking point for me, and I'd hate to walk away after 1000+ hrs in Survival Mode (i've been playing off and on, with a few breaks, since launch day).
Rocksteady Gaming UPDATE: AFAIK, there is no way to get back to the decision point, so I am currently undertaking an epic drive to Eissentam the long way ... by portaling from rim to core, then core jumping each galaxy, 1 by 1, all the way to #10. I did 4 galaxies today, so i am about 2/3rds the way there. Warp drive will be a glowing puddle of slag by the time im done, but so be it. Still a lot easier than the 300+ jumps it took me back in 1.0 to reach the core of Euclid, before we had things like portals and freighters.
Rocksteady Gaming BTW a HUGELY HELPFUL TIP: after some trial and error, and consulting a few other experienced travellers, I've confirmed that HG took some mathematical shortcuts in their procedurally generated universe ... the single biggest being that it appears EVERY GALAXY IN NMS USES THE EXACT SAME MATH TEMPLATE FOR ITS SHAPE ... meaning there are exactly the same number of stars, each in the exact same position, from galaxy to galaxy ... the only variations are the local names and conditions for each star and planet. An important consequence of this is that portal addresses are the same from galaxy to galaxy ...only the names and appearance of the planets they go to change. Thus, you can use the same portal near the galactic core, again and again. The only hitch is that if the planet with the portal rerolls as an exotic in the next galaxy, the portal will sometimes rebound or behave randomly. Also, there may or may not be habitable bases, so if you use this technique youll need the addressess of at least 2 other portals near the core, in case of glitches or lack of bases. Anyway, this is how i was able to do 4 galactic cores in a single sitting. Cheers.
You are both wrong.You need to get to the center of an unknown amount of galaxies to get to the center of the universe and the Atlas is a supercomputer that controls reality.
@@Bumsbaerchi no, a system is short for solar system. A solar system is one star, various planets sometimes with moons, that is a system. A Galaxy has billions of systems in it. When you reset, you are going to a new Galaxy. The assumption going around is you need to do this 255 times before you are finished.
@@Bumsbaerchi I see what you're saying. I read it as you need to get through all the 256 galaxies to reach the final ending. As of less than an hour ago, I read that the wiki stated there is no ending. You just keep "prestiging" with no benefit. Each prestige also means that less players in whatever Galaxy you are in. Such a fun game ruined by this one thing that just kills the game for me past the first playthrough.
people need to stop saying this game is a lie because it is still developing, where there is no early access. people hate this game because no one can accept the loneliness, and with loop so they choose to die uninstall.

The game has extremely improved since launch it’s now 2019 and the latest update is awesome and makes it feel like game we were meant to get at launch

If every solar system had an average of 5 planets, the amount of planets is astronomically large, to our perspective seemingly infinite. We are in what's known as the Goldilocks zone of our sun. That's where the temperature is that of liquid water. So assuming we evolved naturally based on the right concoction of elements and temperature and time, then many billions of other planets have the same potential of having some sort of development of life. Logically, there are probably billions of alien species all over this vast universe. And that's just thinking about carbon based life forms mirroring the conditions we live in. Who knows what other potential life forms could form from other elements (silicone maybe?) and thrive off of. The truth is we can't know because of limited technology. Idk how we got in this argument but I love it XD

I bought a ps4 just to play this game...... I was not disappointed. I've not put this game down for more than 2 years, it has everything I ever wanted from a game. I've started building a massive underground base, and the only thing that could make it better is a population. I want to build a civilization centre........ an empire maybe........ having specialist desk bound companions is very well and good, but to create a galactic community of npcs would just put a wicked shine on this game for me. I mean, you can build a fleet, so why not a community?
Think about the missions you could have too!! The sentinels could be sent out on a population surpressoon mission, and your job will be to oversee your people's defends personally, or in the role of battlefield supervision! Beat of the waves of sentinels! New blueprints for defensive turrets, gun bunkers, earthworks, etc....... one small change to the game gives birth to a range of new possibilities.......

Well the stupid thing is, it says in the log that “Atlas awaits if I want to change my decision” but when I go to an atlas station, it just allows me to birth starts over and over again which is strange.
@@Rocksteady72a I tried to do a reset with the green option. When it started panning around to the left in the galactic map it kicked me out of the game 6 times in a row. I finally had to choose to refuse to reset. Now after I finally found the Atlas interface again it is like a normal visit and doesn't give me the option to reset. Currently i'm 3 ly from the center trying to get to the center. There's nothing closer to the center but the center for me. I read you have to have your fuel completely full. I filled everything up but had to go back to send some frigates out so I didn't get to try it. I built a base at 3 ly away so it'll be easy to go back and try again. Just deciding if I want to.

The anomaly wasn't as much of a thing during the version this was recorded on. That being said, the anomaly remains as something you can spawn and visit. Although, you still cannot travel between galaxies via portals, and most community-related collaborations and coordinates remain 1st-galaxy focused.
Edit: This is a pre-Origins rule. I have yet to confirm if this is still in place. Joining directly on a player or visiting bases via Nexus portal seems to allow you intergalactic travel (written during Prism).

I suppose being called a traveler has some sense to it in its name when you think about it. If you arrive somewhere in a new galaxy, why and how could have the same stuff and it NOT be broken? Your in a new galaxy so it only makes sense that every thing you have be broken. The jump alone should’ve dismantled you but it didn’t. Not to mention the galaxy inferiority complex being substantial meaning gravity could very well be pie or cupcakes. Air could be napalm and water could be pure acid. It makes more sense then the entire game does.

Complete Stargate reference, I love that, the symbols are very similar on the top, the keypad to open it is almost identical, the opening of the gate is similar, and the whole portal phase is similar to Stargate.

The more you think about it, No Man's Sky isn't about the aliens, or the planets, or conflicts, or goals.
It's a parallel to real life. Someone is a sceptic like Apollo, someone might believe, like you, and it's completely psychological.
At the end of the day, you shouldn't reach the goal, because there is only one goal, death. You should enjoy the journey while it lasts.
And the game is not talking about itself, it's talking about the life we have on Earth in our lives, enjoy it while you can. Everything else is irrelevant. So this is actually more than a game.

Well these endings are better than the original ending when the game first came out mainly cause it at least gives context to the third ending and you have the option to continue the save instead of just restarting

I got the second ending where it zooms out of each galaxy which I've yet to explore with so much time on my hands I can explore each system out there and find as many creatures out there and explore every star there is to be seen

Correction: It will end with a date. Because the No Mans Sky universe is a simulation, time is warped to be much slower than the real world. After humans left the earth and their simulation, the simulation carried on, but started to glitch and rust and more errors started to occur. Because of this, there will be 16 minutes left of the simulation IN THE REAL WORLD but in the simulation, 16 minutes is equivalent to thousands of millions of years. So yes, it will end with a date, but the date is very, very far away.

No, it’s not trapping anyone. The atlas was a universe simulator supercomputer built by future humans, most likely to help with stellar colonization. But it was abandoned when humanity left earth completely. It’s creator decided to not shut it down and let it remain powered on. So the atlas continued doing what it can do best - simulate universes. But as with all machines, it will eventually break down. In this case, it has several minutes before it shuts down and dies. But it’s really fast so for it it’s thousands if not tens of thousands of years, maybe even millions. It created travellers as a simulated version of it’s creator to try and prevent it’s death. It’s simulations show that right before it dies, a human will appear near it, implied to be it’s creator, but what it will do with the atlas and why it is there it cannot predict.

The easiest way to get to new galaxies after the main story is to complete the “Atlas Quest” mission, allowing you to see black hole which is a huge advantage for reaching the center.
Since im kinda dumb, when i reset the simulation and had to choose the Galaxies, i didnt even notice that i had to choose so i Just went on the green one on pure luck and i got the transition with the song leavint euclid and i got sad. When i Discovered i accidentally choose eissentam i got happier.
What it amounts to is that some of your stuff may or may not get broken, and you may or may not get shunted to a different Galaxy. Probably, you'd get more deep insight from a box of fortune cookies than from the Atlas, whom I am not liking very much at all.

I was not aware that there was an end. I have been under the impression that this was a continuous ever ongoing adventure of accumulation of wealth, unless you are killed off by pirates, marauders or some other unfortunate event. Where then you start from the beginning anew. I haven't watched in a few months and it has changed immensely...for the better from what I keep reading in commentaries.

Anyone else get the angle of this? When designing a game what is seen is from the point of view of the ATLAS (player) because everything in the players feild of view is rendered while what isn't seen is not
That's my theory on it. The atlas is a game system with a A.I in it that's bout to die n is aware of this.so it conducts a simulation to figure out y n how to stop it n sends us da player to explore n find a answer.

I don't know why some people don't like the ending. It's not something we like or expected but this is actually a possibility. If we do find the end in reality, it could be very similar in the game.

QUESTION (to anyone): at 5:19 it says the choice will remain open to us if we wish to return.
Well, after having left I'd like to return and make my choice ... except I dont see how. Atlas stations no longer appeared on my galactic map, and the only way to get them to do so was to hunt down an anomaly and ask Nada again about the Atlas path ... but when I return it's asking me for another Heart of a New Star, which is the culmination of the Atlas Quest, not the New Beginnings Quest.
So, after having opted to leave (and return later), how do we get back to the spot at 5:19 were we decide whether or not to reset, and if so, which galaxy type we want for the galactic reset ? The vid doesn't show because you simply reload from just prior to meeting Atlas for the last time.
While not the purpose of the vid, I'm actually in the same boat as you. As for as I know, you must reach the center the long-way around to be given the choice again, as there is no way to repeat the Artemis quest.
Hopefully, in a future patch, they will give us the direct address to the center Atlas (after quest completion, of course) so we can choose again more conveniently.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, but I think you may have missed a subtle but important aspect to my question ... I'm already AT the next center (Calypso), and it's asking me for ANOTHER heart of a star (which I easily could craft in a couple mins with on hand materials, if I wanted), but I dont want to create a new star because that's the wrong quest (Atlas Path vs New Beginnings). Rather, I want to reset the galaxy (or more accurately, jump from my current galaxy, which happens to be calypso, to the tranquil green one, which happens to be #10 aka Eissentam).
You seem to be implying that, despite what Atlas implies at 5:19 there actually is no way to get back to the decision point, and that I'll have to get to the tranquil galaxy the LONG long route (Calypso 3 -> Hesperius 4 -> blah 5 -> blah 6 -> blah 7 -> blah 8 -> blah 9 -> 10 Eissentam). If so, major suckage. :-(
If not, I'd be hugely grateful for some clarification, because this is a game ending sticking point for me, and I'd hate to walk away after 1000+ hrs in Survival Mode (i've been playing off and on, with a few breaks, since launch day).
Rocksteady Gaming UPDATE: AFAIK, there is no way to get back to the decision point, so I am currently undertaking an epic drive to Eissentam the long way ... by portaling from rim to core, then core jumping each galaxy, 1 by 1, all the way to #10. I did 4 galaxies today, so i am about 2/3rds the way there. Warp drive will be a glowing puddle of slag by the time im done, but so be it.
Still a lot easier than the 300+ jumps it took me back in 1.0 to reach the core of Euclid, before we had things like portals and freighters.
Rocksteady Gaming BTW a HUGELY HELPFUL TIP: after some trial and error, and consulting a few other experienced travellers, I've confirmed that HG took some mathematical shortcuts in their procedurally generated universe ... the single biggest being that it appears EVERY GALAXY IN NMS USES THE EXACT SAME MATH TEMPLATE FOR ITS SHAPE ... meaning there are exactly the same number of stars, each in the exact same position, from galaxy to galaxy ... the only variations are the local names and conditions for each star and planet. An important consequence of this is that portal addresses are the same from galaxy to galaxy ...only the names and appearance of the planets they go to change. Thus, you can use the same portal near the galactic core, again and again. The only hitch is that if the planet with the portal rerolls as an exotic in the next galaxy, the portal will sometimes rebound or behave randomly. Also, there may or may not be habitable bases, so if you use this technique youll need the addressess of at least 2 other portals near the core, in case of glitches or lack of bases. Anyway, this is how i was able to do 4 galactic cores in a single sitting.

@@Bumsbaerchi no, a system is short for solar system. A solar system is one star, various planets sometimes with moons, that is a system. A Galaxy has billions of systems in it. When you reset, you are going to a new Galaxy. The assumption going around is you need to do this 255 times before you are finished.

As of less than an hour ago, I read that the wiki stated there is no ending. You just keep "prestiging" with no benefit. Each prestige also means that less players in whatever Galaxy you are in. Such a fun game ruined by this one thing that just kills the game for me past the first playthrough.

@Chris Macfarland Yes, your ship is parked a few minutes' walk away, like in the story missions when you come out of a portal.
You did at least spawn near your ship, i had to walk half an hour to get my ship in the blue galaxy (Budullangr)
