Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah - Requiem

- This is the track Requiem from the film Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah. The music is composed by Godzilla music legend Akira Ifukube (1914-2006). This track is for listening purposes only, and I did not make this for profit.
DISCLAIMER: THIS VIDEO IS IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MUSICAL ARTIST, COMPOSER OR COMPANY IN ANY WAY. - เพลง
Akira Ifukube described this as like doing the music for his own death.
This was the last Godzilla movie he did the music for in his lifetime.
so he had it right! I hope they played it at his funeral
may we all miss you Akira!
If Akira Ifukube had a son or daughter ( pretty sure he does ) they would have done the new Godzilla music.
The little Toxic shadow well that depends, they may not necessarily be good at composing just because their parent was.
Huh.
Ednimo true... Agreed. I think they wouldn't compose a Godzilla movie just because their parent was.
"I was there when Godzilla was born... I should be there when he dies, too." - Akira Ifukube, on agreeing to write the score for Godzilla vs. Destoroyah
What a powerful sendoff he gave.
I was there for Godzilla two and 1995
Chills.
I only got into Godzilla from seeing the characters face on a movie box.
and then TriStar proceeded to murder the character in their own way with the 98 film. no wonder Toho had to re-start the franchise again so quickly.
On this day, Haruo Nakajima, the original actor of Godzilla (aka the man in the suit) has passed away at the age of 88. May the legend rest in piece.
protokardas :')
I bet this played at his funeral.
Our king has fallen
I MISS HARUO IM SO FUCKING SAD😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
+protokardas it is too late but...you should say rest in peace not piece...peace out
“The theme for Godzilla’s death was one of the most difficult pieces I have ever had to compose in a way, it was as if I was composing the theme of my own death…
When Godzilla was born, a phase of my life began. Now Godzilla is gone, and that phase is over. It was very emotional.”
*- Akira Ifukube*
The sadder part was that this was their last godzilla theme they composed before they died.

True words spoken by a legend
Rest in peace you absolute genius.
“Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy. They do not attack people because they want to, but because of their size and strength, mankind has no other choice but to defend himself. After several stories such as this, people end up having a kind of affection for the monsters. They end up caring about them.” -Ishiro Honda
That's a very powerful quote..
Matthew Boren yep
Such a true and great quote. A Godzilla movie, when done in a balanced and proper way can cause us to have much sympathy for Godzilla as well as any enemy he fights.
Matthew Boren the best commentary I ever have read and saw

Today, we have sadly lost "Kenpachiro Satsumo" who passed away. He was best known for being the suit actor for Godzilla in the Heisei series during the 80s and 90s. Rest in peace, Kenpachiro, and thank you for what you have contributed to the franchise. You will never be forgotten by all of us.

Rest in peace, Kenpachiro Satsuma. Thank you for the memories as Heisei Godzilla.
You know. In a alternate timeline, this could have not just been Akira’s last piece in this franchise before his death. But it could have been the very last movie this series ever had. While it would have given this track so much more meaning then it does now, I think we can all say we’re happy with Godzilla still continuing to this day.
no dude i am more than happy for the continuation of this masterpiece of a series
RIP Kenpachiro Satsuma, you brought Godzilla to life in my favorite era of Godzilla (1984-1995).
1947-2023
Kenpachiro Satsuma just passed away today. May he rest in peace. RIP Heisei Godzilla.
I think we can all agree that this is by far one of the most, if not the most, heart-wrenching piece of music in all of cinematic history.
It is profoundly moving and unexpected to encounter such music in a Godzilla movie. But, there it is.
Fr this music messes with your sadness really well.

With him, the era ends. The minds and spirits behind the original are gone.
RIP Kenpachiro Satsuma. Thank you for all you brought to the Godzilla series, both as the King of the Monsters himself and as Gigan and Hedorah.
Cant believe the King Himself, the Smog Monster, Gigan and Tankie Godzilla passed away. RIP to one of the best.
Nearly shedded a tear when this played when Godzilla Jr. blasts his final attack at Gigan Rex.
Somewhere in the sky, his dad is smiling...
Same. I was just chilling ,enjoying watching Junior annihilate gigan Rex but wasn't ready for the gut punch right in the feels
Cried my eyes out. Fullest circle complete
Watching that short right after this film makes it hit so much harder
Let’s not forget that this movie was supposed to be the definitive end to the story of Gojira. From a ruthless beast of destruction that wanted nothing more than to destroy humanity to a loving parent and destroyer of truly evil creatures that threatened Earth as we know it, Godzilla went through unbelievable pain in both physical and mental forms just to protect Earth. And he was destroyed in the worst way possible: by himself. As this was (at the time) supposed to be Godzilla’s final film appearance, he definitely went out on a high note for fans of the atomic kaiju we all know and love. The series was rebooted in 1999, but the 1995 movie will always be regarded by many as the true end to the tale of Godzilla, the King of the Monsters.
Goodbye, Kenpachiro Satsuma. Thank you for the memories, for bringing the king to life. Rest well with Nakajima.

Today marks 3 years since Akira Ifukube's death. Having been a master of music, Toho, Godzilla, and the world, miss him.
I hope Toho makes it a requirement from now on that any song composed for Godzilla movies must take notes from Ifukube's work.
It still surprises me that a requiem for a rubber suited lizard could be so mysterious and sad and moving. This is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of music from any soundtrack.
Rest In Peace Kenpachiro Satsuma.

Do not weep for the void left by his passing, enjoy the life he lived. Whether you admit it or not he was a monster to some, a suit to others or even a joke. But in the end he was there..he was an icon, he was a king....
The tears come but they come out of the emptiness left in your heart.
There will never be another as great as he...an icon, a hero, a villain all in one...lay your head to rest titan of old.
You fight no more, the battle is won and the world is at peace...
Farewell Gojira....thank you
Am I the only one who cried at this scene? ;_;

I still cant watch this movie. Its not even a bad movie. It has awesome music, good battles and even the Super X made its return. But Juniors and Godzillas death are too much for me.
Well junior comes back in the end :)
Of course he does and he's grown to full Godzilla size!

Farewell Kenpachiro Satsuma. Hopefully you'll meet Haruo Nakajima in the afterlife in Tokusatsu Heaven.
I will never stop thinking of Kenpachiro Satsuma when I listen to this song. I can't watch Godzilla vs Destoroyah without crying even more than before after his passing. It's sad to know that one day we won't have anymore Godzilla suit actors left... some of them we don't even know if they have officially passed or not. I hope the ones that are still alive are living peacefully.

This gave me chills and the feels at the same time.
This piece hits much more harder than ever. We lost a great legend. Kenpachiro Satsuma, you carried the torch from the late Haruo Nakajima as the King of monsters from 1984 to 1995 and as adversaries, Gigan and Hedorah. You made a lasting impact for those who grew up with the heisei series, inspired so many to follow your footsteps. Your passing was very hard for many such as myself who grew up with the films you're in as either the enemy or as the King of the Monsters since childhood. Satsuma-San, rest in peace, we will forever remember you. Sayonara, King of the Monsters.

Glad im not the only one who appreciated this

Deone Jones where what
The King of the Monsters is gone but never forgotten. May his son honor the name Godzilla King of the Monsters
Technically his son faded into the depths of cinema history after GvD and never returned.
And if you're a fan who thinks that Final Wars was Junior, it was not. The flashbacks of previous films mean nothing in the face of the fact that the Final Wars Godzilla was alive in the 60's, frozen, and then came back later in the film. Junior was born in the 90's, and therefore can't be the Final Wars Godzilla.
Disappoints that they couldn't at least do one movie...it worrys ne about jr like whats he up to will he ever return and honer his father

Welcome, Dragon Ball fans. You may use this song to mourn the death of the legend.
This coment is for Kenpachiro Satsuma, the actor behind the suit of showa Hedorah, showa Gigan and the heisei version of my favorite character of the entire cinema history Godzilla, all that sacrifice to bring life the biggest hero of Japan will be remembered in his films that we still watching through many years of our lifes. I remember watching this movie as a kid…. I cried when Godzilla died… the actor for this era was a great performer for Godzilla, god speed sir.
I'd call this soundtrack Godzilla's funeral
Hadrosaur838 Akira Ifukube stated that writing Godzilla’s requiem was as mutually important to him as writing his OWN funeral melody.
Tyrant Gregcag That's impressive, but also depressing at the same time.
Alan Carrillo Yeah, pretty much. But at least it was something that was meaningful to him, as opposed to simply thinking of it as just part of the job or something.
Tyrant Gregcag Yeah. It shows that Ifukube really cares about Godzilla, which is great.
Alan Carrillo Certainly! He took pride in his work. That’s why he got so angry when he saw Toho turn his classic Godzilla theme into a pop track for Godzilla vs. Biollante.
That final roar by Godzilla combined with the music was just so heartbreaking, signaling the end of an era 💔💔
I balled my fucking eyes out when this played in godzilla vs gigan rex. Junior has truly made his old man proud

But junior lives at the end because of his dad's energy.
I remember being a kid and thinking Godzilla was truly unkillable, when i was a kid, 2014 introduced me to Godzilla (I was a big dinosaur kid and thought thats what he was back then) and after that movie I watched some of the originals, and I remember watching this movie and when this happened I was so shocked and it was only of the only times I can remember my kid self actually crying because of a movie. This movie is a beautiful masterpiece and what a sendoff for the original King of the Monsters in this timeline of movies. I will admit, this movie even made me sit in fear when Godzilla in Kotm (2019) went into the burning state because I thought I was going to have to watch Godzilla die again and got really scared. Thank god he lived on in the monsterverse from then and I can't wait to see how The New Empire continues that Godzilla's story. But this movie had such a beautiful score, and listening to it now still makes me tear up.
Rest in piece Kenpachiro Satsuma thank you for being the Godzilla actor for the Heisei. 😞
Rest in peace kenpachiro satsuma thank you for everything you may now rest long live the king

Haruo Nakajima :,(
It's odd to go through the comments and see some from 14 years ago mentioning how recently Akira Ifukube's passing was, and then subsequent comments mourning Haruo Nakajima, then Akira Takarada, and now Kenpachiro Satsuma, Burning Godzilla himself. I never met the guy, and while Godzilla is a household name, his suit actors are not. So I guess I'll join the bandwagon and pay my respects to the legend who brought Heisei Godzilla (as well as Gigan and Hedorah) to life.
