Richard I’ll tell you what, this tank cleaned up so well on the inside using that technique. It has a raised petcock that helped initially. My 656 is awful and a work in progress, much larger than this tank and a bear to work with.
You know, I’ve never figured out if it is a positive or negative ground. I assume positive but I couldn’t get anything with a 6v hooked up that way. The 12v worked and didn’t spark.. the generator doesn’t charge but I haven’t replaced any wiring on it, yet…
When you clean a gas tank put pebbles or nuts and bolts in the tank and shake it they help dislodge the the junk in the tank
