    • @tylerb8700
      @tylerb8700 4 ปีที่แล้ว +86

      Im a Vibration Analyst and i love these videos. The usual cause for non symmetrical patterns in a situation like this are very minor variations in the density of either the plate or the sand being used for the demonstration. The tone is triggering what is called a critical resonance in the plate. There are an exponential number of these resonant frequencies, which will make more and more complex patterns as the frequency increases. Resonant frequencies are determined by an object's mass and even the tiniest variation in it's density will alter the resonant frequency for that spot of the object, this shows itself in non symmetrical patterns in the sand. I suppose it could also be related to how the speaker is projecting the tone but im not a sound pro lol

    • @aathish04
      @aathish04 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@ShinAkuma Random vibrations can't occur because the oscillations travel from the frequency generator as electrical signals and get converted to sound waves, which have definite places for high and low energy depending on wavelength (and therefore frequency). So, since the wave travels out from the center, where the plate is fixed, the salt moves to wherever there's a lack of energy from the wave in a roughly radial manner.
      I'm not sure why asymmetric patterns happen however. Tyler B's explanation seems pretty plausible.

    • @static_motion
      @static_motion 10 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      I don't think that would work. The patterns drawn by the sand are due to how the solid surface responds when it resonates with the vibration of the speaker cone underneath.

    • @merion297
      @merion297 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Felipe Varela Yeah, we could think it, but no. Resonances would appear in the air in 3D and some of them could trap the rise, and there would be no gravity breaking the patterns. Search for 'ultrasonic levitation'. :)

    • @static_motion
      @static_motion 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I know what ultrasonic levitation is and that's exactly why it wouldn't work. Ultrasonic levitation only works if the sound waves you're using are stationary. This causes the particle being levitated to stand stationary at the zero-crossing point of the result of the two waves, which makes it impossible for it to move. If it were to move without the motion being caused by shifting the phase of the waves it would simply fall out of its levitative state.

    • @merion297
      @merion297 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Felipe Varela Yes. But in zero-gravity that fall-out could/should be avoided, eliminated. This is the theory why it should be tried there; what if we create these resonance points in 3D, in zero-gravity... What if we move the phase without that fall-out...

    This is something I have been studying a lot lately.. I am using the same technology to make fractal antennas for my shortwave radio and other frequencies that I receive and transmit on. A fractal is a fraction of a wavelength, in my case its radio, but it applies to the entire electromagnetic spectrum.. If you are familiar with antennas you know they come in full wave, half wave, 1/4 wave, 1/8 wave, 1/16 wave and so on.. You can build a multifractal antenna consisting of multiple angles each represents a fraction of the wavelength you are after.. By making numerous angles connected together connected by a common conductor you can build a very compact and efficient antenna.. They are used in modern cell phones because they are highly efficient and compact. I have built several with very good results..

      @Fabio GTX The symmetry is due to the interference of the table and its own resonance. The frequencies they list are not necessarily fundamental but may be a result of how they have the table set up. I'd imagine a more rigid construction would eliminate interference but would require a much louder sound to stimulate the effect. We have to remember that intensity is important when it comes to overcoming interference.

    How much are the frequencies a function of the plate..?
    i.e.. would a different size/shape plate give you same or similar patterns at same of different frequencies or different patterns entirely..?
    Did you try in reverse..?
    They seem to change shape quite quickly then remain stable for some time then shift again.. would be interesting to know if there is an upper end to the same shape as the frequency descends.. or indeed if the same patterns result on the way down..?

    I have seen an old docu about this, and they used the same plate with sand. Only, they used multiple frequencies. And as they had multiple high level frequencies, the paterns got animated. Showing galaxy like paterns on the board. And the higher the frequecy, the more complex the pattern got. So that makes me wonder, what if this planet we live on now, has a uniq insanely high and multiple frequencies, that shapes and form our world. a frequecy that controlls everything. From where it rains to volcanic and tectonik activity. Hell even human and animal behaviour. So if this force (frequency) controlls everything that is supose to happen, i mean scientists have done experiments on the human body, that shows that the human brain knows that something is about to happen, before it does.(i would link you the documentary, but i cant seem to find it again). My point is that this world we live in now, considering our technological advances the last 100 years. Seem to me to be a computer simulation in the distant future. And the possibility of humans being able to create a virtual world in year 2500, would be much more advanced then what we have today. And for all we know, in this virtual world, created in the future, there is another virtual world created within it. And it keeps creating worlds within worlds. And every time a virtual world is created it changes a litle bit. And for all we know, this world we live in now, might be the 1 000 000 000th virtual world, completely diffrent from the first. Food for thought.

    There's an old book, Flatland, where the characters live in 2D and watch objects from the 3D world pass thru. So, like, a sphere would be a circle. An egg passing thru just right would be a circle or an ellipse, but could be some odd ellipse i don't know the name of.
    A cube might pass thru as a square or rectangle, or i don't know.
    BUT!! this video suggests that when a 3D "thing" passes thru 2D the result might be much more complex.
    So!! This FASCINATING woman, Alicia Boole Stott, had a brother working on "things" in 4D, which i think are called tesseracts, so she began making 3D models from cardboard of what tesseracts would look like as they passed thru 3D space.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alicia_Boole_Stott
    But this video has me wondering if "things" in 4D passing thru 3D space might be much more complex than her polytopes. Or would it be just wave forms, if 4D has such, that would create complex 3D patterns?

    You know, some of these patterns look just like some of the patterns that can be seen from the air that were drawn somehow by ancient civilizations.

    I noticed lots of 4, 6 and 8 sided patterns, are there any frequencies that produce 3,5 or 7 sided patterns?

      Jasim Zoobi yes I know exactly what you mean... I too hear the high pitched sound, even when it's not quiet (if I zero in on it). As a kid, I wondered if it was radio frequencies in the air I was hearing or something internal. Never shared my thoughts with others because I was weird enough to my family as it was. Glad I am not alone...

      its called tinnitus. the little nerves attached to your ear "hairs" spasm and a false harmonic is created in your ear by those vibrations. Usually occurs after exposure to high decibels at most any frequency, its just high pitched to you because there are so many 'hairs' and the tympanic membrane spasms causing the sound. Id like to see this in space as well...super cool for containment theory in fusion.

      jetpaq FYI: RF is commonly confirmed with Tinnitus. There are dozens of electronics that causes a ‘whine’ in your ear for the time being.

      Jasim Zoobi yes, I hear the same pitch. Its not in my ears, it is in my head. I was brainwashed ( by myself and mainstream 'consensus' )to believe the bs about the ears. Not so.
