absolutely... i have been wanting to tell those "leafblowers" what was really on my mind now I can... 13:03 .. jus joking... I genuinely found this to be a great stream , I think it would be good to play on a regular basis for some who need to get into better habits, even just to re-fresh every now and then if your work flow is great/good... I am def holding back due to .. "perfectionist" ideals.. plus many things Pete mentioned.. making a calendar , schedule date for project completion (days/weeks/months)...whatever the project requires depending if one song or album/compilation then back track to figure out what is required and when you can fit them in... although if your work flow is not even getting you to the point of create/record/release your first track - maybe that is the priority .step by step to build the catalogue. Pete is true champion. I am glad you found him .keep creating and expressing through audio... keep tuned to Pete Johns.. . please check out Son Ray on TH-cam if you have time and subscribe . I have the ability to create/record/release ..and also do D.A.W tutorials for LogicProX and Ableton.. it is all a process and about consistency and linking with like minds , being honest and authentic.. or is .. Imperfections is why I really love the punk rock vocalist Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife, I Am The Avalanche). His voice strains, gravels, cuts out with distortion from clipping... but you can just FEEL the emotion from his voice.

Thanks for another great video, this one really hit home for me. I’m working on a song right now which took me about one month to complete 95% of it, but it’s taking me ten months to finish that last 5%. I don’t know if it’s because I’m relatively new to making music and I’ve never had any formal musical training so I tend to doubt myself somewhat. Anyway thanks for reminding me to have fun with it.
Thanks for this Pete. Yes, my own favourite songs come when I’m not trying to replicate someone else’s sound or style. I use them to influence me for creativity at the beginning but then try to step away. I think it also helps me in not being proficient in any particular instrument. Your guides and tips have really helped me along the way in GarageBand etc. 👍✌️
So glad to hear I don't need to be perfect anymore. I like Bob Dylan, the Strawbs, Ian Hunter, Tom Waits, and a lot of musicians that have "very unique" sounds. I don't like some of the more trained and possibly more perfect voices. Celine Dion comes to mind.

I’ll explain: losing inspiration for me is, trying to make a song in a genre that I like but it isn’t so popular or that is already done by mainstream artists (so, comparison...) and losing connection means that when I find myself creating something I ask myself, ok, I’ll make a song and then? What would I do? Publishing, performing live, a video? I listened to one of my old songs last night and I thought “I actually sound like Bob Dylan/Lou Reed when having a bad, bad day on a sweet sensuous tune hahaha... Neither liked or disliked. So... But I’ll follow Ella Fitzgerald’s advice “What is the best practise for singing: more singing”.
I couldn’t be less perfect. Lack of perfection is the only thing I get right. Positive Time Pressure is a legit thing. My latest opus🫤 “Seasons Suite” was finished using this motivator.

I’m having problems with mixing and mastering. It seems when I get my perfect mix the mastering process ruins the mix. 😩. So I go back to remix the song with the mastering final master in mind and i don’t feel the mix is right anymore.
Hey Carlos. I’ve had similar issues in previous mixes and found that simplifying tur mastering process really helps. When I have a final mix that I think is really close, I just add a limiter in mastering to bring the level up and that’s it. If you’ve done the work in the mixing, the mastering process should be pretty straightforward.
Pete Johns I hear you, master p, all I do is follow your tutorials on mixing and mastering and add limiting to the end. It’s still not doing what I want. I don’t even use external plugins, just GarageBand audio extensions only.
