Because of the way my factory was set up, I wnded up using different recipes in different locations. My initial trigon production was using caterium and coming in to the factory in one area, but when I started my nuclear plant, not only did I need more, but it was out of the way for the existing line, and the location made more sense to use a different alloy.
For my setup aluminum was best because I had leftover aluminum I needed to use up anyway and it was right near the same SAM node you showed near the iron nodes. But then again I burnt myself out and stopped right after setting that up. I'm not sure how much I'll need for tier 9 products.
I've used that Carerium recipe every time. The breakdown is super helpful. I didn't consider the Aluminum recipe because I didn't want to invest in setting up enough production. I might add the Iron recipe tho since power isn't generally a concern...
I'm working on it now, and I will make them all. 😊 I have all the pure recipes, and they rock. Probably, the majority will be iron because there is more of it.
I've set up overflows on ingot lines to go into fixite systems for random small scale uses, aswell as using all 3 ingot recipies depending where I am and what else is in area
Love the series! I am sad you don't get more views 😢 Have you considered adding a little bit of humor or a running joke or something? I know some have a special character in each episode or some joking or humor.. might help hold more people's attention? 🤷♂️ I love the series, but I know it is a TON of work to do what you are doing and hope you get more traction soon!
I would say there is a 4th recipe ; is to use Sam to make bauxite from copper There is much more copper available and Even tough it use 16.67% more Sam, it doesn't use bauxite which is much more valuable
A massive aluminium and then a massive ficsite factory It was my biggest project at the time I am still sinking most of my aluminium but I needed mrk 6 belts to supply the sam It was insane (for me ) I hope I don’t need any more ficsite
I think the Aluminum ingots are 1) much harder to make and 2) much more useful in other recipes. Iron ore being one of the most common resources makes it the most attractive imo, but Caterium ingots only make one thing of value: Quickwire. And they make so much of it (especially when combined with Copper Ingots) that there's definitely going to be some ingots left over that could be made into Ficsite. At the end of the day, SAM is going to be the bottleneck. I haven't done the math to see which one will maximize Ficsite Trigon production, but to me the difference probably won't matter in the long run He says as he's about to do the math
When you were looking for Caterium in the swamp, if you had just looked a little bit to the north you will find three nodes, one pure and two normal in an easy to access cave, well easy to access on peaceful. Otherwise, it's a nuclear hog and one of the large spiders.

Iron all the way. By this point in the game, power isn't really a problem so I tend to try and keep things as simple as possible.

that works too. It also saves you from using too much of 1 particular resource

the best way i find using all three by send the extra ingots to a centralized Ficsite ingot factoy
With as much quickwire my factory uses, even with the coper alternative, meant I went with the aluminum variant for Ficsite
This is the same for me. I made a factory that uses all of the bauxite on the map to ingots, so I have lots of extra to use on this
I've set up overflows on ingot lines to go into fixite systems for random small scale uses, aswell as using all 3 ingot recipies depending where I am and what else is in area

I like him Because he gets it done so quickly I sort of wished he had a best recipe playlist with nothing else on it

I Came to the same conclusion re aluminum as well. It's also the most destructive if it backs up.

All these numbers and math...I just dump all input untill belt is full. It's much more simple
As a Pioneer I find it highly offensive at the suggestion that we would be wasting resources.
