I think the guide makes sence in general, but starter location should take nabouring bioms in to account. If i start in biom A and see a useful ressource just crossing the border to biom B, then i would consider this ressource to be one of my starter ressources. But i think any new player will find the guide very useful, because it covers the entire map.
Very thorough coverage of every area of the map. Super helpful even for someone with 2,300 hours in the game. (Not sure who that would be referring too…)
Wow wow, Mr Pickle thank you very much for your hard work and detailed analyses of the biomes ! And thanks for all your other videos as well, you're doing a great job !
8:49 i wouldn't rate resource availability a 6, it only looks like there's a lot but in actual practice i would rate it 4 this includes difficulty to extract to those said resources
Did my first playthrough from Grasslands with a litte extension into the western beaches and beat the game. Started a new Game with a little bit of modding and started in the Rocky Desert and it felt like cheating, so many pure nodes is unreal
I started over at the Rocky desert but in the south east corner below the crater lakes I got coal by building up had easy Caterium and when the time came 2 bauxite pure on top of the mountain between rocky desert and red jungle pillars with a also contained lots of resources to expand and used western beach and lake Forrest for Oil plants by the time I needed more power and resources I had teleport so made a huge power plant at the blue crator worked like a dream. Also I think you missed out on expansion option as a category
Pretty good video, but why did the Crater Lakes get a 4/10 and the Abyss Cliffs got a 3/10 on resources, when both have coal, but the cliffs have way more sulfur, an amazing nitrogen well and more?
id like to point out that the lake forest biome in the far right side has those tiny lakes (27:49 for map picture) the have abouit 2715 wood and 4k leaves between them and is an extremely lucrative spot to go collect those for your start up biofuel needs cause everything is pickable by hand and no enemies except 3 hogs that patrol close to the top leftmost pool.... so while not a good starting place its a god send place to go load up some easy biofuel materials for the early game especially if you start in the northern forests right sides premium starting spot... you mistakenly included the maze canyon biome as part of the northern forest biome... though i would consider it more of the desert canyons biome than the northern forest... southern forest you said terrain 2 nad it was marked as 1 i started my 1.0 playthrough in titan forest... by the lake you said is not a good idea... though it is elevated by a lot if you are on retaliation or passive mode with the fauna like i am cause im not interested in fighting the things... also as a side note the section there is also chock full of mycelia and you can quickly unlock the parachute and use that for traveling it is really good item to have early game for movement. i think the only way you could have made this video more informative would have been if all the zones had 1 more thing to rate and it being either late game expansion to that biome or late game expansion out of that biome to gauge how good the spot becomes later instead of only having the focus on starting power...
I hate that the game makes me choose between aesthetics and practicality when making my initial factories. Obviously it matters less as you begin to use the entire world, so it is only a minor nitpick.
Spire Coast is the sexiest biome but the worst in terms of gameplay and effectiveness, and it's really a shame, maybe I'll build something there at some point, but even after 200 hours I don't see a point to go there.
I was actually trying to find some kind of biome-by-biome analysis earlier this week but couldn't find anything, so this is perfect timing Thanks for the excellent and informative video!

The swamp will get concreted by me and my Nuclear are planted above it. Seems like the best use for that area.
Yep. Wayyy too much death and destruction down there, but some good resources (and power slugs).
have just over 700 hours in game and i just learned the biomes names lol
Yeah me too 😂😂
Great Video. Nice breakdown and gave me a good overview, now that i want to expand my starter factory considerably.

text didn't load in 😅
great video. what map are you using?
0:40 Spire coast is great to look at but nightmare to build at
Yeah. That’s why I often build out into the sea rather than in the actual biome itself.
I started over at the Rocky desert but in the south east corner below the crater lakes I got coal by building up had easy Caterium and when the time came 2 bauxite pure on top of the mountain between rocky desert and red jungle pillars with a also contained lots of resources to expand and used western beach and lake Forrest for Oil plants by the time I needed more power and resources I had teleport so made a huge power plant at the blue crator worked like a dream. you mistakenly included the maze canyon biome as part of the northern forest biome... though i would consider it more of the desert canyons biome than the northern forest...
southern forest you said terrain 2 nad it was marked as 1
i started my 1.0 playthrough in titan forest... by the lake you said is not a good idea... though it is elevated by a lot if you are on retaliation or passive mode with the fauna like i am cause im not interested in fighting the things... also as a side note the section there is also chock full of mycelia and you can quickly unlock the parachute and use that for traveling it is really good item to have early game for movement.

No Coin Tree Forest or Canyons?

The swamp gets a 0/10 from me. Spiders. As large as a truck. No thanks. Lol
I was actually trying to find some kind of biome-by-biome analysis earlier this week but couldn't find anything, so this is perfect timing
Thanks for the excellent and informative video!
No problem. Glad I could help!
