- About a year ago. I bought 16 chicks to keep me busy whilst waiting for this Covid-19 madness to end or end us all. I enjoyed keeping the birds so much that I bought an additional 30 to increase the farm. A year down the line and I'm now targeting 1000 (One thousand) birds; ideally 800 Hens and 200 Roosters.
In this video, I give you a little background to my poultry farm, an update and also what is currently happening.
Watch me reach my One Thousand Birds target this year

I appreciate your kind words and enthusiasm. Keep moving forward. It will all work out
Can you explain why you had lower hatching rate at first what did you improve to increase the hatching rate
The explanation is in the video. These tips will help increase your hatch rate;
- only hatch freshly harvested eggs if possible.
- store eggs in a cool place not beyond 20 degrees temperature.
- make sure to keep the incubator temperature at around 37.5 degrees. if your machine is not fully automated, keep temperatures around 36-38.
- humidity should be below 55% for your first 18 days of incubation and above 65% the final 3 days.
-FINALLY, make sure to turn the eggs regularly, the more you turn the eggs, the higher your hatch rate.
so my mistake (not so much a mistake but experiment) was not turning the eggs frequently
It seems your incubator does not have egg turner motor so how are you turning them.
yes this is completely operated manually. which means we turn the eggs by hand.
