    Glad that I watched this before using the premix. Original plan was to apply grout to about 30 sq ft and then start the cleanup. Based on this clip, decided to do it in 5 sq ft increments. After first five, dropped to 3. If I had done 30, I would have had an enormous mess. Thanks.

    ps. If where you laid your tiles is going to experience spills from drinks etc, I’d highly recommend using the Fusion Pre mixed grout.
    Same application procedure etc but it has stain proof additives in it which works incredibly well.
    Especially for floors and around kitchen backsplashes where grease and food splatters can easily stain this Simple grout used in your video.
    If you have already used Simple Grout in these areas, I’d recommend using a sealer on the grout prior to it getting dirty/stained.
    Downside, the Fusion grout is twice as expensive as Simple grout.
    Cheers.

    Fun story: the guy that did the tile in my bathroom did good with the shower walls, but within 3 days, I started having some loose tiles and peeling grout. 6 months later majority of the tiles on my floor are loose. I’ve definitely never done flooring a day in my life, but from what I’ve gathered, I don’t think he “buttered” the tile while applying it. So here I am trying to make my life easier by applying fix a floor under all of these tiles and bought premixed grout to regrout. I’d just pull all the tile up, but I’ve already got my toilet installed and this is my only bathroom. Lol. I’m going to have to do 2 long tiles at a time so I can still use my bathroom.
    Anyways, you’ve made this look pretty easy and I can’t wait to start! I’m glad you showed how to remove haze and timings because I was a little confused about when/how to clean and dehaze. I always heard not to use premixed grout, but I want this diy fix to go pretty quick and simple because I have plenty of other diy projects to do in this old house.

  •  หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video and very clear and concise.
    The only thing I question is only waiting 30 minutes for the grout to cure before using a mild cleaner and green pad to clean the haze off of the tile surface.
    If you’re EXTREMELY precise and careful, you can get away with it but even on the container’s instructions, it states to wait at least 4 hours before attempting this haze removal.
    I know it’s a catch 22 as the longer you wait the tougher the haze is to get off but dampening the grout only 30 minutes later and then possibly rubbing it by accident with the green pad can be an issue.
    Just my opinion but great video nonetheless.

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No precision really needed as the grout level is lower than the tile level. The haze cloth wipes right over the grout in my experience unless you really press hard on the cloth over the groove lines. I'd suggest doing a test section if worried!

      If your tile grout is in a high traffic area or exposed to moisture/water I would. I usually wait a few days to let grout set than apply the sealer. If those environment conditions don't apply, I usually skip the sealer part

      I've lived here over 40 years. It's a hodge podge of bad, crooked tiling, cracks, and discoloration. I've cleaned the grout lines, removed, and sawed down, filled large gaps with the pre-mixed, sanded, and cleaned with Aqua Mix NanoScrub, it's a water soluble cream polish-- that did an amazing job, making everything bright white with a high gloss on the tile and the ancient porcelain tub. @nidhi1124 I've used left over grout a few days later, just re apply the lid securely. I can't recall the shelf life, however, I believe it is listed on the packaging.

    If I use tiles with a little bit of a design on them, in other words, not absolutely shiny tiles, would the hazing be worse, more difficult to clean?

    Are u sealing this premix grout? If so how

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This particular project I did not. If the grout is not in a high traffic or wet environment, I don't bother to seal. I don't have a video on sealing grout, but there are a few quality ones on TH-cam I've watched in the past.

    • @matthew3454
      @matthew3454 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @EngineeredMojo Thanks I'm repairing a shower just two loose tiles and a soap dish with a larger tile. I got a not-so-chap sealer...
      I didn't know if I was doing some overkill here but seems like I'll go ahead and just do a whole seal coat on the shower walls, as it's all fairly aged.

    • @EngineeredMojo

    Do I need to spray a sealer after this application? Also, I want to add glitter to the grout. How easy or tricky is it with premixed? 🤔

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I typically only add a sealer in high traffic areas or areas prone to get wet. I'll admit glitter might be tough with premix given how stiff it is, I would do a test batch and try it out. Sounds like a cool idea!

      You only have seal it if you want to waterproof it.

    Timeline for drying is wayyyy off. Regrouted my shower tdy, followed step by step, and yeah a few things did not work. For other viewers your going to have to wait 25-30 min for it to dry if you do it in 10-15 like he says all your progress will be gone. It’s been a very stressful day trying to follow these instructions bc clearly it doesn’t work perfectly 😂

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @diamondexed5331 a shower enclosure could effect drying times and also how humid your house is if youre not running AC. It's always better to be a bit early with grout than too late when wiping for sure. You can reset a tile, but it's hard to clean haze haha
