    Went from a 180hp CBR1000RR as a commuter to a 797, enough power for City driving, lovely torque curve and the sound with a slip on is addictive. Really comfortable, love It.

      @@AbuAreejQ21 bought a 797 two months ago and i can tell you it's a blast ;-) you made a got choice, a big change in character can be made by changing the standart exhaust. The standart doesn't sound exciting at all in my estimation. I live in Europe and bought myself a roadsitalia exhaust for 250 Euros and now the bike is perfect :-) i wish you a nice time with yours aswell ;-)

    I put a deposit on one of these today. I’ve been agonising for a couple of weeks whether to save myself a bit of cash and get the MT07, I went for the 797. The MT07 has a bit more of a punch and you get a lot of bike for your money. I liked the slightly forward riding position on the 797 and you’re right, the power feels like it is spread more evenly and linear. The seat is more comfortable as well! Pick it up in two weeks! 😊

    I just bought a very low mileage 2021 Ducati Monster 659 which is essentially a detuned 797 for learner/restricted license holders here in Australia. This is to supplement my 2024 CFMOTO 450SRS sports bike. I can’t wait to receive the Monster in my stable. Now I have a great little sports bike and Naked bike! 😎👍🏼

      Yes, I confirm that (on my 797) ! During the first 500 miles and before the first oil change the gearbox feels horrible, finding neutral is just impossible, and you may experience some false neutrals as shifting is pretty hard. But since then everything feels sooooo smooth.

    The false neutral is a pain in the ass. I did read about that before I got my bike, I have the 11' 796 first bikes. I know it's a really big bike to start on but I was told that all I would need to Master is throttle control. I love it except the maintenance cost for everything 7500 miles. When i notice my bike is quiet, I'm traveling 80 plus. Handles well in the rain.

    I wasn't thrilled when I rode an 821... I was expecting more out of it. Especially for the price. for the money, a z900 I think is better. I'd love to throw my opinion about the new street triple in, but I haven't ridden it.

      I agree. The Z900 is a better choice than the 821 no question about it.

    Hello Chase! I really like your videos, I started watching you because of the Ducati wrecked bike rebuilt. Let me ask you, how are you able to come in a conclusion that a bike is better than another without riding it in various conditions and under pressure? I mean how are you going to point out that the Monster justifies the price difference by offering much better braking and handling than the SV650 or MT07? I totally agree with you, the headlight should be black! and it really needs an aftermarket exhaust!

    Great video chase, loving the content. Would be nice if you did a video to compare all the monsters in detail. E.g why an 821 over a 797. Even why a 1200 over an 821 (apart from the obvious).
    Anyhow good stuff ! Keep it up

    I have to say a couple of things as a former owner of an 848sf, a 796 monster and a 1100 evo...
    This is dissapointing, the fit and finish looks worse, no single sided swing arm, same dash as the older 796/1100, euro4 takes about 10butthp ergos are about the same, i felt like the older platform was better overall, i was really hoping to not regret selling my last air cooled duc, but i do now after seeing this bike in person and comparing with reviews all over the internet that seem to lead to the same conclusion... Is not a good bike

    Is there a gear indicator for the 2017 Ducati Monster 797?

  • @Domstadt4711
    @Domstadt4711 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a new rider, which I am or will be soon, I would appreciate the gear indicator shown on the display.
    I would consider the 797 over a MT-07 at any time of the week.
    Just for the fact, that you don't take off like a rocket, like you do with a MT ..

    • @Nik-xe3tx
      @Nik-xe3tx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bro I just got an fz07 and as a new rider the bike is controlled. Unless if you randomly blip the throttle then your front wheel will keep up. But it’s a good bike man and just take it easy. 👍

    • @Domstadt4711
      @Domstadt4711 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Nik-xe3tx - thanks for the input mate. Appreciate it. I am just confused though, because I will be a first time rider in the Manual/Clutch section. I just don't wanna ride a rocket as a first bike. As a newbie you may get scared and by accident you pull the throttle to hard and then you may be involved in an accident. The Ducati is less sensitive on the throttle.
      When I watch or read reviews about the MT- , they all mention the sensitive nature of the throttle. I think it's more for experienced riders who are able to control that. Against the Ducati speaks the price though. it's pretty heavy on the wallet.

    • @Nik-xe3tx
      @Nik-xe3tx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Domstadt4711 bro take this into perspective, four weeks ago I haven’t touched a motorcycle before nor a manual transmission and now I’m riding around town without any problems. I’m not sure why they said that the fz07 throttle is twitchy, I mean it is but it is also controlled. So as long as you go easy on the throttle u should be fine man. But I will tell you the engine braking on that thing is crazy! That’s what I would worry about the most. I’m still getting used to that whenever I downshift. But nonetheless the mt has a gear indicator and I would say a really good overall bike for beginners to even advanced riders.

  • @Jmeez69

    I just smoked one of these that had a full exhaust and tune with my stock Kawi Z650 5 times in a row. Also my super low seat height made me destroy him in the Santa Barbara curves. He couldn’t keep up. Also he’s been riding longer then me but pulled up to me and said that he thought I had “more road time then him”.... when indeed he had been riding a lot longer..... My point is why the hell isnt the Z650 mentioned more in this class? Everyone just wants the twitchy hard Torque of the MT but I honestly think the Z650 is a better bike then both of these. It has even more smooth and linear throttle response then the Ducati. It’s a kawi P twin.... I fucking blast these things and the MT’s all day because my bike is refined, smooth, linear and designed for real riding.... not just power wheelies like the yama :/
