Timely video. I found a near new pair of 990v2’s in my closet last year, I bought them 20 years ago when they came out and hadn’t really worn them. Wore them non-stop since then, time for a cleaning and refresh.
Fantastic job bro! Awesome work especially the glue on the toe caps to the midsole; 992’s are really rugged on top of being insanely comfortable when worn in. Those have to be like slippers at this point lol and they look great cheers as always my man! 🫡
They are for sure one of my most comfortable new balances! Even though they are old I'm still rocking them like they are brand new because the life of a new balance is never over until the disintegrate 🤣
@samdopkosky ...I found the Teddy Santis mahogany leather 990 V4 on sale for $70 @ the NB outlet in Williamsburg, VA... has to be my best buy to date..
Shoe Goo is a better way to glue the outsole back on. Superglue won’t work well, I think. You should try to run them in the washer to clean the inside of the shoes, then brush the suede to revive it. Also, the 992 was available on sale until barely like 2-3 years ago, there should be basically new pairs out there!
Next time I’ll for sure use shoe goo. Running them through the washer is a great idea, I might have to try that! All the 992s new are very expensive in my size so I plan on waiting until the rerelease
@@samdopkosky I actually bought a pair of MiUSA 992s this week, brand new, in the white suede/neon green/orange colorway. Paid $72 USD equivalent (the store is in Quebec, Canada). They still have most sizes, like 10 and 10.5 in stock! If interested, let me know Sam, I’ll get you the info for that store! They do ship to the US!
@@samdopkosky ... I put my grey 997H NB in the washer with some Tide liquid detergent and they look real good.. also put them in the dryer with my other clothes and they look good... I was actually surprised at how they turned out..

I’m glad you found those v2s, clean em up and enjoy them!
I bought two pairs of V2s … the Gray and the Navy colorways … my fav aesthetically. It seems like it takes some time to break them in
Awesome video showing how you clean it. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!

We need a Sam Dopkosky x @DylanLey collab … my two fav @NewBalance content creators … let make it happen
That would be so ideal, hopefully someday!

Should use the soft brush for the suede
Did you use get to use a suede brush after it dried?
Yeah they turned out great, the suede loosened up pretty nicely
make a video on how to clean 990v4 please
You got it! I’ll film it this week and have it uploaded hopefully next Monday!
How about test the market out selling for 70$ or more after you cleaned
I’ve defiantly thought about it!
Is this by chance the 992s that Dylan Ley sold?
I did not buy them from him but his videos are great!
@@samdopkosky Gotcha. That would have been cool if they were, but it’s awesome you have an OG 2006 pair as well. Enjoy your Memorial Day, Sam!
Thanks! Enjoy yours as well!!
Next time shake most of the water out of the brush less water when cleaning suede
Great tip, thanks!
Not worth it. Cause the work u put into it is also $. I rather pay like about 100 n in great condition.
I had a good time working on them and wearing them so I’m not too worried about the $
Cleaning not a restore 😅
You’re not wrong 🤣
