  • This is just a quick demo of the new Danelectro 59DC Shor Scale Bass. I recorded a the bass line true the NUX MG30 with a neutral amp setting, so there is no EQ only a amp and speaker simulation going on.

Sounds very versatile. I personally wouldn't use round wounds on a bass famous for being bright. I'd buy a bright bass to be bright. But it sounds great.

Interesting fact. Danelectro basses were the first basses to come with rounds on them

Why would they have the bridge shifted so far forward on the short scale bass? The regular scale bass has the bridge the whole way back by the lower bout where it should be. Having it that far forward pretty much defeats the appeal of a short scale bass as it ends up feeling just like a standard scale, does it not?

Reminds me of hofners tbh. I used to play a violin bass clone, definitely did not miss the "great-for-picking-but-awkward-for-everything-else" bridge placement.

I agree with you and I think a lot of companies get this wrong because they're basically guitarists designing a bass and they don't understand. The reach to the first fret feels like a long scale bass which defeats a lot of the purpose. The location of the strap button also makes no sense but remember this was designed in the 50s/60s when ergonomics was in its infancy.

@@superduperj1202 It’s Danelectro the whole point is that it’s garbage what were you expecting. It’s the whole charm it’s made out of Masonite

    • @superduperj1202

@@turbosoggy8404 Nope. It wasn't garbage because of what it was made of. The 3 screws on the bridge were not screwed down so the bride was a quarter of an inch off the body. The frets were sharp, there was glue from the nut on the first fret, the pick guard was warped, the pots and knobs were terrible. The pick ups were adjusted all the way up to the strings and were both loose.Intonation was way off and the neck pocket was a mess. I was expecting a cheap, light bass, but was surprised by all the other issues.
