    Nice review!
    I think the gears are the same as the trx4m. Worth a try.

    Nice vid! I just got my Ascent18 today and it performs pretty good box stock. It definitely needs weight up front, but I'm pleased with it so far. Especially for 100 bucks. Killer deal!

      Right. $99 for any hobby grade RC is awesome. Let alone one that performs this good box stock. With a few upgrades, this rig is going to be beast.

    The biggest flaw that needs updated on version #2 is the top chassis plate contacts the servo & servo mount when the suspension is fully collapsed. Compress ether the left or right front shock & look at how it contacts the servo mounting ears. The cause is the chassis design & the chassis is not wide a nuff in the front & should have been 3 - 5mm wider to keep this from happening. The worst part is, there is no way to fix the flaw without an aftermarket chassis to correct the fault.

    • @hyperc5249
      @hyperc5249  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed. The front suspension is barely ever under full compression on both sides. I will be addressing this in the upgrade video. You can bet your bottom dollar the aftermarket companies are already planning an upgraded chassis.

    Hey bro I really appreciate the review going to order mine right now! This was a great, thorough review and had me sold on the purchase. I have had my Axial SCX24 since it came out and it is still a beast years later (after a bunch of upgrades LOL) wanted something a little bigger but a good size for my nephew (turning 3 April 15th!) After all my upgrades to the Axial if he were to step on it I would flip out HAHA

    Good review. 👍 $99US certainly seems to be a smokin' deal and makes up for the out of the box short comings. (Hey Axial!....are you paying attention!!! 😁🤦‍♂)
    Wish they offer it for $99 CDN! 😥
    Fair enough on the in house up grades. Their hoping to make up for the cheap RTR price on the back end with folks wanting to up grade ASAP and not waiting for the aftermarket to get on it. That's fair. Can't understand why straight links and not high clearance? Maybe they don't work with the pinched rails.
    I prefer the SCX24 scale, but this is really tempting. Especially since the EVO pro isn't available in Canada. But it looks to be out of stick everywhere.
    Thanks! I'll check out more of your vid's on mini crawlers!

      Thanks Bert. I agree with you. The 24th scale is slowly getting less and less attention. The 18th scale seems to be the new kid on the block and these rigs are performing very well box stock. I have a lot more content coming this summer. Don't forget to sub and like.

      @@hyperc5249 Agreed. IMO, Axial fell into a corporate bean counter coma. They got lazy and deaf to what was going on and what their customers wanted. They lost out on leading by advancing the market and chose to stick their heads in the sand, putting out the same over priced toys, just in new colors. Total shame. I love the SCX24 scale. Super fun and portable. And you can have a good size indoor course without a big foot print. At least there's a good number of guys doing SCX24 based builds and custom parts on IG, etc. Any further builds, I'm doing ground up. I can't see the value in buying something only to turn around and toss 90% of it in the garbage. 👍
      Sub button hit! Look forward to more mini content!

    I just got mine in the mail today and took it to a river spot and only things I seen that needed much help was weight and maybe a new chassis . I want to put a hobby plus evo pro chassis on mine needs a little weight up front but it’s a nice crawler for sure I like it out of the box maybe cut some lugs on the tires . I had just build a hobby plus evo pro a few weeks ago and man that thing is nuts

    • @hyperc5249

    I love the Ascent-18, but the body is butt ugly so I 3D printed a 1965 Ford F100 body for it as well as my own version of the clipless system it has. Moved the esc/rx combo to the front of the rig, removed the battery tray and added velcro for the battery. It crawls great! It was great out of the box, besides having the ugliest RC body ever made. Stickers for lights? Why do that, just leave it blank. But I get it, you have to sacrifice something to get this awesomeness at that price point.
