My female student watched this and she feels inspired. She just learned how to play bass a year ago and made All-County this year. This is exactly what she needed to see and hear. She is now dressing up as the first female bassist (whoever that is) for our Women's Tea Party at the school. Thank you.
2:38 my lord what awesome , passionate , beautiful playing . Out of this universe ! Never in 60 years of listening and playing heard anyone play like this ! I’ve heard many of the greats and you are the crème de la creme ! BRAVO
Today in my music lesson I learnt that you have to play every single with absolute love, or else there is no sense in making music. Now I come here and watch this video and I understand what my teacher meant. Thanks for posting this!
Although I've seen this video several times before I really like to return here as you show the perfect example of how to play emotionally yet not overdoing theatrics on the character of this piece (which I notice watching some of bassists). I'm practicing the Czardas these times and you gave me a really great inspiration (again), thank you!
Lauren, that was amazing and truly inspiring. Seeing you play so eloquently with that high level of artistry has definitely motivated me to keep pushing on the bass. Thank you girl!!! Please post more videos whenever you can! Love this
I'm so sorry for the late response. Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope your musical journey is going fabulously since you left me this comment! xx
Lissette Solis Mikyung Sung is a wonderful inspiration also. (Her czardas for instance is at the end of a video for the 648 house concert, following the Bottesini Elegy no 2)
I think I just fell in love :) My friends used to be in a gypsy band called Loyko and this brings a strange sense of nostalgia! Only Mr Bradetich could come up with an arrangement like this, really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with the instrument, great interpretation.
Wow Lauren! That was so awesome...I like Czardas so much with guitar and bass, but most of all, I adore the artistry you bring to the performance. Keep it coming!
OM! I have never heard this on double bass and guitar. You are truly amazing. I could listen to you play all day and night! Thank you! Mahalo! Fiddler in Hawai`i
This is so good it should have millions of views! It's sad most people would rather waste their time listening to "songs" like I'm in love with the Coco, I mean what is going on! Beautiful performance I am truly amazed by your playing!
Tocan realmente hermoso y la combinación de Guitarra y Contrabajo es fabulosa. Muchas Felicidades a Ambos por tan buena música. Gracias por hacer de esta pieza algo especial.
Lauren, you have the x-factor; passion, precision, a unique personality and more. What's in the near future ?.. symphonic, chamber, recording..... You could supersede Gary Karr as a soloist with your cello like timbre and passion for the music. You are awesome in duos like guitar or piano to breath new life into songs such as these.
Mike Wes I think many bassists today could supersede Gary Karr. He is great and a pioneer but others are even more talented now, and don’t treat bass playing like a joke or stunt, like “ooh, look what crazy things this awkward, lugubrious elephant of an instrument can do!! Haha isn’t it funny?” They treat it like any other instrument to be played beautifully with passion and emotion. Players like Lauren and Mikyung Sung and Bozo Paradzik make you forget it’s supposedly a hard to play instrument with a gruff deep sound, because when they play it’s just beautiful and effortlessly virtuosic.
If you’d like to learn this piece, I have my personal edition available for you in my online shop
for DB and Piano: gumroad.com/l/czardas
I guess it is quite off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Liam Anson flixportal =)
@Walter Major Thank you, signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!!

1:45 that run is enough to crush my self esteem for about 2 years holy crap
0:43 she really cut that gliss off and paused a bit to build it up. probably one of the best bass interpretations i have ever seen. well done!
Excuse me while I hang my head in shame and sob silently into my bass in my practice room...
i felt that on a personal level
Ich hätte niemals gedacht, dass am Gitarre & Kontrabass den “Czardas” von Vittorio Monti so warm klingen kann ! Meine Ohren beginnen fast zu glühen !
So great! and proud of you Lauren!!!
+Craig Butterfield This is my amazing teacher, everyone! Thank you so much Craig :)
