Thank you young lady, both you and your nuanced accompanist. You are a great team making music to sooth the savage old fart. As I age my hearing deteriorates where anything orchestral sounds hash and discordant. The piano and the bass viol with their simpler harmonic content are still comfortable for my listening. Unfortunatately, not much is published in this pairing but you from time to time bring forth selections that bring me real pleasure. Thank you and your accompanist again.

Grumpy old man? Ha, ha, ha. I'm 81 and my bass is about 70 years old; neither of us is grumpy (yet).
Beautifully played just lovely...I'm dedicating the rest of this year to nailing the (your version of )Mahler bass solo no 1. It's my second favorite peice of music , Tartinis Devil Trill Sonata being no 1) thank you for all your helpful tutorials.

Good for your son. The more he listens the more he'll be able to hear from just a single tune. Maybe, in a while, we'll all be listening to him and saying that young Garcia is a wonderful bassist.

This is by far my favorite interpretation... The tarantella sounds absolutely amazing. I'm currently working on the Bottesini Concerto, so I hope that one day soon I'll be able to play it, but probably not as well as you...

Every bassist wishes he/she could play this tune like Lauren plays it. I know I do but I didn't know a bass could sound like this when I started in the fifties. Now I'll just sit back and enjoy listening.

I think it was amazing but you always have to pick at the little things tho yah so I didn’t like the little noise the bow was making it was because you were playing to close to the finger board I believe so but other wise tempo intonation it was good
Why pick the little things? This interpretation was incredible. Any noise you're hearing is probably because the microphone was close to the bass... any of those noises in a live setting would be totally imperceptible. Grasping at nothing here! Go Lauren :)
Potentially a rosin thing, pops tends to have a fuzzier sound at times in solo rep, and so do some others.
Her bow sounds like carbon fiber, in my experience every carbon fiber bow has had that sand paper noise, if you go watch my recording of this piece you can hear the exact same noise coming from my noise, except a lot more. One thing to help combat this is putting a very tiny amount of violin/cello rosin on the bow before you put bass rosin on.
