      directors tend to rely on trusted collaborators for these kinds of decisions.
      that's why you often see directors work with the same producers and crew, or as close to the same teams as possible.
      directors obviously work well with film crews who mesh with them well on a personal level, and who execute the director's vision satisfactorily according to him or her. a director really can't do everything alone.

      You should definitely read Robert Rodriguezs book.

    • @TheHumorgod
      @TheHumorgod 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well, thats why big movies like that usually have 3 or 4 AD's, or Assistant Directors that are there to handle the logistics of everything so the director can focus on his job which is directing the actors in the scene.

  • @darringreen8630
    @darringreen8630 2 ปีที่แล้ว +294

    It's rare you get to see the behind the scenes of a director looking at drafts and making decisions like that. Usually behind the scenes is all about the actors cutting up. I loved this.

    5:48 Oh my god My man is responsible for literally my favourite scene in all of Iron Man, the mechanical arm screwing the joints into place is *chefs kiss noise* thank you Jon for saying “I almost want it to linger” because goddamit that one little detail made me believe that the Iron Man suit was real

    • @Vousie
      @Vousie 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well, it's more like most directors think "consistency isn't that important, viewers are too stupid to notice anyway. Rather concentrate on making it Look Cool"
      But there's a few of us who will notice the difference, the plot holes, when filmmakers change things just 'cause it suits them.

    6:55 What's cool about this discussion is you can see in the final film they added a shot after the punch to become the new "reveal shot." Wonder if it was a reshoot or if they just found another take to use.

      Since the suit in that scene was full CGI, all they had to do was go back to that set and shoot a dolly shot to put the CGI suit on. If the set was already re-purposed, would be slightly harder.

    This is why the various Star Wars tv series are in such good hands... Favreaus knows exactly what he wants in a shot, he knows what works and he won't settle for anything less. He's also a massive fan of Star Wars and practical effects which is a huge bonus.

    The fact that the amount of sheer dedication Jon and his team put into this movie is unbelievable. I mean the amount of hard word he's putting into each and every single inch of those shots is mind blowing and the way he attains and corrects every unseen minute detail is what made this an all time spectacular and marvelous masterpiece. This is like the dope film of those times and no other movie during that era has pulled of with a CGI like this. God! It is as if it's almost real. I mean they were just trying to give their best in the work not knowing how iconic this movie is gonna turn and paves a path wide enough for more future projects.
    Love RDJ and Jon fav! Thanks to Jon Favreau, we got him as Iron man otherwise it would have been a lot more odd to see or even imagine someone else portraying this role.

    Ah the pre Disney says the MCU had such a good start, no overly childish comedy and jokes just for the sake of being ‘family friendly’ practical props and sets that actually make the scene look far more realistic and movies that largely focus on its own character and not try to squeeze in a bunch of cameo or supporting roles of other non related character
