  • finally got round to ripping up my model railway station platforms and starting again! I haven't been happy with them for ages but they look so much better now!

    Nice video... I've found that for the final finish on the surface if you remove all the filler from your scraper then clean it in water, then just let the filler dry a tad then dip your scraper in water then drag it over the filler at a low angle it will make a smoother surface, you just need to keep cleaning the scraper in water, a lot like how a plasterer plasters a wall. If you do it like you did i find that you keep pulling the filler up that you've just put down.

      Thanks James, never thought about using water! I did find I needed to have a clean scraper and aslong as it was spotless it wouldn't drag anything. Worst thing I found was the odd piece of ballast would find it's way on and cause a scrape!

    could i ask what width your platforms are please

      The main two are approx 50mm wide, the other one is about 25mm, I think!
